Oh, and you didn't ramble, like so many vloggers. You got right to the point, which I appreciate. During certain points where you got ahead of me, I simply paused the video and backed up to watch again. Great pacing!
Just got my G85, and I already spent Sat/Sun experimenting with it. I think I need to try these settings out on the new rig. Thank you kindly for sharing this great tutorial Reha.
Thank you so much for getting to the point and sharing exactly what I needed to know instead of talking up the video for the first two minutes like others do. I really appreciate this and it has helped a lot.
Thank you very much. I just watched your video and set-up my G85. I am a writer/producer/director and need to learn everything I can about the camera I want to use and this is the one to get me started. Great video. Easy to follow. I subscribed.
I've been too chicken to go into the menu on my G85, yet simultaneously to lazy to open the user manual. Your video helped me get over my initial fear and provided an excellent jumping off point for fiddling with the settings. In the future, I may decide that I prefer different settings to the ones you suggest, but at least it has gotten me to start using my camera. Thank you.
Fantastic tutorial, exactly what I was looking for. I'm also a content creator and so in addition to learning about the video settings, I learned a few lessons from you on being clear and concise too! Great work and thanks!
Thanks Reha, excellent video. I am just evaluating this camera at the moment (mainly for videography use) and this video was so helpful to show the menus and suggested settings.
Awesome video! I've been using a G85 for 2 years and never bothered to look into the specs much... Now I'm considering upgrading to the S5 but I feel bad that I never used the G85 like I should so I want to learn how to make the best of it at least while I have it. This was one of the best tutorials on how to set up the camera for video. I really like what you said about not overdo it :) I've copied 90% of your settings! Thank you so much!!!
Have to agree with Alex. Thank you for being so direct, efficient, clear and informative without diverting of relevant topics. Brilliantly presented. Do you have and different settings for specific Vlogging undertakings.
For someone who has a G85 on the way, this video was a nice sneak peak into how the menu will look and what settings I might use in certain scenarios. Great vid!
Hey Reha, I love your video and subscribed, you were the only person I could find that actually went through all the settings in the menu, rather then switch too often to "talking head mode". This way it's way better to follow through. I love this video I understand 90% why you do most of the settings for filmmaking. Now, I'm a vlogger and used the g85 since it came out in October 2017 most of the time in auto mode (YES it is horrible). I'm definitely switching to manual mode, but as you know, while vlogging, which for me involves changing from dark rooms to sometimes very bright outdoor, I would like to be able to let the camera make most of the needed changes automatically. I set the autofocus to face priority, I also set 4K 25p or 1080p 25p plus I set SS to 50. Now for vlogging is it the correct way to set the aperture to 3.5 (kit lens) and then let the ISO at Auto, or what settings would you suggest? Thank you.
I just got my G85. Must say, your video has been the most helpful for quickly understanding the settings. The kit lens low light performance is not as good as my d3300 with prime 35/ 1.8. I am wondering what kind large aperture lens should I go for as the lights can be challenging but the clients expect the moon.
Hi, just wondering if auto iso is possible in manual mode for video? I want to set the shutter and aperture and just have the iso adjust itself as necessary. My GX9 can do this. I've had a good read through the manual and googled it but just wanted to double check. Thanks!
Thank you very much. Very very clear. One thing, can i adjust shutter speed as much as i want? I would like to film also some crt TVs and i would need a specific shutter speed for all. lik 29,97-59-100 ecc. Can i adjust that in this way like 0,1 steps or only like 30-50-60 ecc?
Thank you. I dont suppose you have any info on how or if the G80 can be set up for tethering for livestream video. I bought it for that, put it aside and now find there doesntseem to be a way to tether for livestream.. which is totally lam in my view. If you have any thoughts Id be very grateful.
This is such a great little tutorial, was really having trouble navigating the menu and the footage I was taking was really grainy and amateur looking. I feel as though I have a much better hang of it all now. Cheers, Reha!
I think he means in part what "Photo Style" do you use for stills? Natural, Portrait, Standard? & the settings for those. Do you reduce contrast etc. and manipulate in post? I have wondered the same thing.
Hi, Thank you for this video. Please tell me, i can set camera to show on display how many minutes of video i have left (or i record it already)? Cheers, Marc
I always use the Audio Peak Limiter. Even with split audio (Lav on A1 and Nats on A2) it limits the peaks individually, not a blanket level reduce to both channels. I find it very very very good.
Hey bro! In general I agree with your settings and the idea of not tweaking a lot, cause yeah it brings up the noise a lot. The only thing, I noticed that with -5 saturation sometimes people tend to look greyish or dead in many situations, so I'm keeping it at -3 or -2 now.
Thanks for this, just got the G7 and most of this I have done but you have explained a lot more so its giving me more confidence and knowledge. First camers moving from the phone and I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner
Just what I was looking for! Thanks so much! Any chance us LUMIX G85 users can get depth of field video shots without an extra lens? Looks like you had it with this video. Thanks again for any help.
Hi! Thanks for your videos they are very useful. I have purchased this camera mainly for RUclips makeup videos. I have a very dark skin complexion question number 1 which photo style should I have it on? should I set my portrait or cinelikeD? And should I play around with the contrast noise Or just leave the settings as they are. An ISO of 1600 filming in day light is that good? Also I don't seem to get the f stop lower than 4.2 is that ok? I want to have my natural skin colour and I want my skin to be smooth almost as though it's photoshopped how can I do that? Sorry to ask too many questions.
Most of the time I have been using cine-v, but also had great results with natural, especially for skin tones. These are settings if you color grade your footage as the video will look very flat and desaturated out of the camera. If you don't color grade, go with cine-v and dial down sharpness, and contrast to -2 or -3 and try that.
Hi Reha, I am writing from Italy. thanks so much for this video. Please help me. I can't change the photo style settings. The menu is grey, i can't select it. It is set in std mode. Please help me. Thanks .
Hello, great video! Thanks! I would like to ask if you know wich sd card is suitable for continuous recording(more than 29 minutes). Thanks in advance!
i really want the camera but the fact that is doesn't have a headphone jack bothers me i wana here what my recording sounds likes but theres work around were u ca get a dslr audio mixer and control your sound levels completely but for now ill stick with my Panasonic gh3 love that camera
Thanks for all of the setting suggestions... For some reason, my Stabilization "Operation Mode" is not available. The letters are grey and I can't select it. I can select the E-Stabilization and turn it on or off... any idea why?
I recommend to shoot in 4k and edit/export on a 1080p timeline. The image quality is so much better, not only because you downscale a larger image, which results in more detail, but also because 4k is being shot in higher bit rate. 1080p is of lower quality and no, the camera doesn't downscale a 4k image in camera.
Thanks for the prompt reply Reha. I'm updating from a gh2 and my computer wouldn't handle 4k at the moment. I haven't seen any 24 fps 1080p on any new pana 4k cameras that look good actually. So best I update my computer maybe before I purchase a 4k camera. Like your work, Be well and thanks again.
Hey Reha what a great and detailed video. I just ordered this camera after much deliberation and I'm hoping it will be a good one for my new video I'm aiming at doing. Your setup review was just awesome....Thanks
Sir, I just purchased my G85 today and made the settings just like you did in your video. I intend to use mine for documentaries. Can you suggest a lens that would give me the best cinematic look for docs?

Hi Reha, I try my best to roll it to set the aperture, but when I roll it, nothing is changing, do I need to set something in the menu so that I could adjust the f? My lens is 15mm, f1.7
Hey Reha, I accidentally dropped my Canon 80D during a major shoot and decided to go with the G85 based on your reviews! So far, I love the quality-- however, I'm finding that the autofocus is completely useless for run-and-gun filming. Is there more to the settings that I'm just missing. I'm using the Leica 25mm 1.4 lens... will be upgrading to a speedbooster soon. I just want to know if this camera is better for setup shots only?
Hi. I'm Using a G80, but the Photostyle setting is unavailable. Do I need to buy some special equipment or expansion to get that, or are my settings elsewhere way of?
Reha, I just purchased and received my G85. I own a group fitness studio but because of COVID-19 I have been closed for indoor classes since March 15th. My Teachers and I are providing 'Live Streaming' classes and recorded classes. I have done research on the best way to record very clear classes. I have also purchased the Scarlett 2i2 audio mixer to keep the sound consistent with the beat. Can you give me advice?
It's refreshing how quick you are... I turn off so many videos when vloggers go off on tangents.
Oh, and you didn't ramble, like so many vloggers. You got right to the point, which I appreciate. During certain points where you got ahead of me, I simply paused the video and backed up to watch again. Great pacing!

Start to finish non stop no nonsense super helpful information! Well done and thank you!!
After only watching 1 minute of this video I have learned more about my camera then I did in the past 2 hours of going through the manual.Great video!
Actually, what camera are you using to film your G85,please tell me its the G80?
It was a Canon. I believe a 60D.
Thank you so much for getting to the point and sharing exactly what I needed to know instead of talking up the video for the first two minutes like others do. I really appreciate this and it has helped a lot.
This is the most helpful g85 video I've seen since I started researching this camera. Thank you.

Lumix stablization is realpy amazing.
I just bought a used G85 (in Excellent condition per MPB.com) for location scouting and gear review vlogs. Thanks for this guide.
For someone who has a G85 on the way, this video was a nice sneak peak into how the menu will look and what settings I might use in certain scenarios. Great vid!
Thank you very much for your menu settings...
I usually ski through a lot of tutorial or tip videos however watched yours fully and appreciated every tip!

I watch this video for like 6th time during the past couple of months because it is so useful!

Unfortunately this feature is not available. Doesn’t make sense. Bugged me all the time I couldn’t use auto ISO in manual mode.
@@RehaAlev Ah okay! Blast!!
Been using my camera wrong all this time 😅 thank you, this one really helped me out!
Nice when you learn something.
Is there a way to hook up an external mic on this?
Hello, just recently bought the G90, so hoping these settings will be the same, great video though, have subscribed.
Big thanks sir

Omg same
hahahha hope you are happy with it now :)
Is it possible to film in different aspect ratios on this this camera ?
Excellent job
Reha - would you know where I could find some tutorials for setting up the G85 for stills photography? Many thanks
Darron Saunders I can make one, but not sure what to teach. I expose manually based on what I shoot. What do you want to know?
I think he means in part what "Photo Style" do you use for stills? Natural, Portrait, Standard? & the settings for those. Do you reduce contrast etc. and manipulate in post? I have wondered the same thing.
Photos I shoot in RAW only. I never really bother with different styles in photo mode. However, I like standard and scenery, if I'd be shooting JPGs.

Hi Reha, 2 things I'd like to know before purchasing this camera are ; 1, what is 1080p quality like. 2, Can I downscale 4k in camera to 1080p. Thanks
