Floored… that good? Wow! Paired with the 100S, what percentage of the image quality would you say it has compared to the 50mm across the frame? Hoping to order one of these two lenses in Boxing Day sales so would really appreciate your view before then, thanks!
You were so right! Just about to pick one up for about 500. Will use it for a coastline commission near where I live. Great to know the simple facts. Great video very much appreciated.
I have had so many full, frame cameras and lenses but never really been satisfied with the photos I took. I wonder if I should go medium format instead with the gfx system.
Just got my GFX 50s ii with the kit lens. I agree, what you said 100 percent. The images have certain depth and magic to them on a medium format camera, and this kit lens, honestly Amazing!!! Ken could you please recommend any 50ish mm manual lens to be used on 50s ii via an adapter? I heard voightlander 58mm f1.4 is good, and covers the sensor pretty much? What is your opinion? Thank you in advance!
Ken, this lens or the 45-100 for travel, street, landscape? I've got the 50sII w/ the 35-70 and wondering if the addition of OIS will help me land sharper images. I already like the idea of the longer reach as it will keep me from putting on the 100-200. Thanks!
Well they put this at half price last night. It makes it hard to decide between it and the 45-100mm now. I want a light MF landscape lens to hike with and shoot waterfalls. For this lens's purpose in my usage, I don't care about bokeh. This goes wider than the 45-100mm, and apparently is very sharp between f/8-f/16 right where I'd use it. Makes it difficult to go with anything else. This and the 110mm portrait lens, and an extension tube and I feel like the MF kit is covered. Maybe a 100-200mm down the road to do some abstract landscapes. Does it hold up on the GFX100S though?
I got both setups. What do you primarily shoot ? Landscapes / architecture ? Portraits ? How do you shoot ? Handheld ? Tripod ? If you shoot mainly stills with tripod and outdoor, Gfx 50r is a great camera. But as a portrait / corporate photographer, gfx50sii has a better grip, has IBIS offering lot more latitude and has a flash link on the side and not the bottom which is a nightmare on the 50r if you are hardwired to your strobe. Just a comment : autofocus are sh** on both of them. Regarding the lenses, 45-100 are perfect for portraits indoor and outdoor, but it comes short for landscapes and travels. And it’s far heavier and cumbersome compared to the 35-70.
@@hezlean i m Shooting Event and Natur in my freetime. Event for me are band Performance in a Stage. Natur sometime Landscape or Something close near me. All Handheld at the time but if it requires a tripot i take it with me. My currend equip are xt2 and xt3.
Could you speak a bit more to why you prefer the 35-70 over the 32-64? Primarily I would like to know image quality strengths and weaknesses for either lens. I shoot with primes on a nikon, sans my 200-400, and intend to buy the 250, 110, and possibly the 45. I had intended the 45 as a walk around lens, but the 32-64 seemed a good compromise, and maybe even a temporary replacement for the 45 to ease the strain on finances.
The 32-64 is heavy. Much more weight to hike it into an area or for traveling. The 32-64 cleans up corners quicker but by f/8-f/11 where you will be shooting landscapes they are indistinguishable. The 35-70 is also flatter while the 32-64 has some curvature. Flatter is better for landscapes. Finally the 35-70 has the strongest performance around 30 mm. 32-64 is ok. 30 prime has more curvature. Both are wider though.
So it's a $500 kit lens, made in the Philippines. All good, no negative points...(I'm just recalling the salty Z 24-50mm review, an interesting contrast)
I love this lens. I have to say, I was quite shocked. I thought it would stay in the cupboard and never get use. It’s the perfect pairing for my 50sii.
I appreciate your personal perspective on life as well as your camera reviews! Enjoyable. My question which may seem stupid is, late last year I moved completely from SONY A7R4 and A7S3 to Fuji XH2 (photos) and XH2S for video. Dilemma: I enjoy photography most and am interested in medium format enjoy details (seen at Fuji showcase here in Tokyo). In your expertise, would I be making a mistake to move to GFX 50S2 from XH2? Seems there’s a different level of image quality and excitement? I’m not expecting it to make me a better photographer, but as I hone my skills, more to experience from results? Am I missing something? Appreciate your perspective on medium vs Xmount image quality. No one talks about what you’re really getting or not going to get. Bery few people out there I deem reliable. Thank you.
Wow, watching this made me happy. Not because I own the lens or the camera but because you are always so honest and straight to the point with these reviews and I take your recommendations on lenses very seriously. Earning your praise is no small feat, as opposed to some other hype-based youtube camera channels. P.S. I watched your video on the 50mm f1.4 super takumar 8-element lens and was able to hunt one down . This was some time ago however. I seriously need to use the lens more, I just shoot film and haven’t used that camera body very much (I found one bundled with a spotmatic pentax on ebay). Random rant has now ended…. But if I ever get a fuji medium format camera I now know just to get the bundle and kit lens!!
... you can laugh at me (go on), but I'm going to get the GF 45-100 mm (but as it is very heavy), I will also get the GF 35-70 mm, because it is nice and lightweight. I don't care that those two overlap ... if you can get the 35-70 at a discount price ...
Just a friendly message to let you know that your title has a minor typo. This is a 35-70mm lens, not a 37-70mm. Hopefully a correction will help you get a few more views. I am finally pulling the trigger on the GFX 100S and I can't be more excited!

The tree stole the show on this session.
Hi Ken! Any comments on how the 35-70 kit lens perform on a gfx50R body (i.e. without IBIS)?
👏🏼 Congratulations for 10 informative years on RUclips Ken. Unfortunately no one would have believed the recent subject matter. Stay sane 👍🏼

It comes down to if you prefer to stand your ground and fight off an attacker with your camera equipment or if you prefer to run to safety.

What is the best buy for 4500€ a used 50r or s and a 45-100 or the 50s 2 with Kit Lens 35-70

hi ken - can you please do a review comparing the 50s mkii and the 50r ?

I advise people to get Fujifilm despite using Sony myself. That's because I don't want the backlash when it all goes wrong with Sony.
Would be nice to slap some photos at the end of each video. For us anti-facebook people...
