Some people just don’t understand that this is for players who can play! I love it and understand it and greatly appreciated all just fine! I was a good friends with Joe Pass for many years before he past a way. He used to say to me “ anybody can stroll guitar, but to play you need a God gifted talent from inside of you”, I think you got it man…
skrew everyone who says this guy "talks fast" or what ever... this style of youtube video lessons are pure un watered down "get rich (musically) quick" its like chilling with a master that you have spent 1000 dollars an hour for his time,... wow to all the haters out there on the net... just watch the videos 3-4 times and let it sink in a bit... thanks for your time making these videos man
I agree but in a less harsh manner. The myriad of people out there and what they have to deal with, we have no idea of what they are going through. Patience fellow human, keep your empathy powder dry. Remember if you don't know the syntax, you can't have the conversation. two things, the brain gets old and less flexible, the haters as you say. Only need to be aware of the syntax issue. Funky slow Latin beat....... Am7b5, D7#9, Gm7, C9. repeat Noodle on it for two hours, do not become redundant with it.
Basically, play the chord followed by its corresponding mode followed by its arpeggio. Do this in a diatonic fashion. Play a Gmaj7 with root on the 6th string, followed by a two octave scale of Ionian and then one or two octaves of Gmaj7 arpeggio. Use whatever scale shape you want. Continue this with Amin7, A Dorian, and its arpeggio, etc. Be creative and play the scales ascending and descending, in 3rds, 4ths, any scale pattern, groups of 3, 4, or 5, work on picking accents, or tremolo pick each note. It's also helpful because you can hear and see the chord/scale/arpeggio relationships. It's a really fun exercise.
For the people who write paragraphs complaining. Spend less time writing paragraphs and more time playing your instrument. If it were not for These videos many of us musicians would not have gained so much knowledge in such a short amount of time because we were not in areas of the country where these great musicians perform or live.
You show the chords and scales, but don't really explain how to sit and work on them and build up speed. You obviously can play, but those of us not as bad ass as you, need to know exactly what to do with those scales. Metronome? How exactly does one build speed? It can't be from noodling around all day in those scales. :-)
The lesson is rushed through too quickly. You obviously have the knowledge but I found it too hard to keep up with your speech and the lesson needs to be slowed waaaay down!
