Thank you both for this broadcast. I really appreciate your enqiury into this condition. I admire Dr Babak's compassion and approach. I am a formerly healthy 63 year old Australian woman who has spent the last 9 months in painful decline. As part of bloodwork in confirming a diagnosis of Polymyalgia rheumatica my blood calcium levels were found to be almost 13 and PTH was high also.
I have been through the specialist roundabout, testing and imaging. I have osteoporosis, and I am finally having surgery to remove a parathyroid adenoma. Luckily for me my experienced surgeon operates through my local public hospital for free. I am aware how wonderful that is compared to the USA medical model. I am hoping for a significant improvement after the surgery. I have to say my attentive GP who I had never been to before picked all this up immediately.

This was very good. I can’t tell you how hard I’ve had to advocate for myself and push back from doctors who don’t have a clue.

That's good to know! I'm so glad you had the surgery to correct it.

I see conspiracy too because the doctors are not trained appropriately. I think doctors shouldn’t argue with patients when they demonstrate knowledge of their own medical condition/issues.
