The point is top boy's supposed to reflect reality. This isn't some American drama where the guy escapes prison and conquers the world. In real life, if you do that shit and act like Modie did then you're either stupid or a lunatic (Modie), or even both XD. It would've been cool to see him as the primary villain but if that would've happened, it would be just another generic show where you could predict every step. I like that the show stayed true to its roots in reflecting reality and real consequences. This is a good example of subverting expectations. It may have been shocking yet disappointing and sudden, but it still very much made perfect sense.
People bemoaning his death, I feel you. But I think it shows the capriciousness of the kind of life and how it can all be taken away from you in an instant, especially if you're a marked man.

Modie's escape from prison showed you how far the ZTs have come since his imprisonment. They went from being roadman to running the game and with the heat behind Modie either police were going to kill him or Dushane & Sully, or some other gang.

Modie was great for the show and a true insight into how conducting himself as he did, ultimately ended up with him first in prison and then dead. This show was not made to glamourise that lifestyle it should serve as a warning
Excellent bit of realism here. Armed police in London are extensively trained in single shot lethal kills. They fire only one shot to neutralise Modie because it’s a very busy street with a high chance of collateral damage. Every bullet can ricochet potentially harming innocent bystanders. The Hollywood scene would be all guns opening up on Modie like an Army platoon and not a highly trained firearms detachment. This is much more realistic. Excellent directorial choice from the creators and writers.

Think people missing the point of this scene, top boy aims at showing people the real life issues of road life and this shows how feds just shot an unarmed man instantly who was having issues seeing properly (they weren’t justified to shoot him but they get away as usual)
