Just by the way, the “cheap” plastics (in the lower areas of the cabin) are actually hardy, durable and scuff-resistant materials, strategically placed where scratches and bashes mostly occur.

If you are talking about 20 years ago car i would say yes or maybe 10 years ago lexus still can do so but if you are talking about new lexus there is no way they can last so long. New generation cars used so much electric parts and technology which can't really last more than 10 years maybe some of then can't even last 5 years

@@kristians2704 and I agree with you, people who lease these cars generally move to newer ones as soon as they can. My point being is, if you have the money and don't care about spending it on maintenance fees, go ahead and buy a German luxury car. It will give you a lot back in terms of comfort and tech but will also put a hole in your wallet once they have some mileage on them. German reliability = be prepared to possibly spend £1000 Japanese reliability ethic = spend £1000 for most of the vehicles lifespan at the expense of some comfort and luxury.

People buy the Lexus for refinement and reliability, and because they don't want to follow the crowd and
buy a German car, I do wish reviewers would realize that. Most Lexus owners have grown out of the need

I really don't think the move to replace the RWD GS with the FWD ES as the executive class saloon is a wise decision but then again I'm not a marketing exec so the fact that the ES has been Lexus' most successful model in the US is probably one of the deciding factors for it.
It's just that the ES has been pretty much the car that solidified the stereotype of Lexus' being "nothing more than" posh Toyotas, what with it being based on the Camry and then the mechanically similar Avalon for the entirety of its life. Sure it's very different to that base what with all the extra soundproofing and comfort-oriented changes et al but still.

There’s no arguing Lexus and Volvo does the best seats in the industry by far. They’re so good in fact, I’m sure they’ve sold a considerable number of cars based on that aspect alone. If you’ve never had a seat in one of those cars... it’s a revelation. I can tell you, even in my home I don’t have a chair, couch, or recliner that’s as comfortable. As an aside, the comfort of Lotus’ Probax seats are mind boggling, especially given the fact they have no adjustability, and even less padding!

Matt they didn't let you test the voice command system that's new on this car? it uses the same system like your google now with a command word and you instruct it on what to do. It's awesome and virtually assists with everything in the car. They didn't equip this car with the same Adaptive cruise control semi autonomous system on the LS. That one wouldn't cut you off when you don't touch the steering like it did here. It would steer you round the bend and slow the car down to a halt and put on the hazards automatically then call emergency services on your behalf. I guess it may be an option on this ES, cause i heard them say it comes with a new safety system which is optional that even detects cyclists, pedestrians and objects and steers the car round them automatically while driving. The interior of this car is lovely though except for the hard bottom plastic door bins, the 5th gen ES had leather wrapped map pockets. Don't know why they have refused to use that since that generation.

A.) The grill on the Lexus is to new to be a classic.
B.) I think Lexus is trying to copy Audi's oversized grill and both are out of proportion except the A7. I believe that Lexus should go back to the drawing board with this funky grill design.
    Keep up the good work.

It is just blank space, a blank black screen and you are looking at a tele thst is yet to be turned on. I much prefer analog dial, as least the main ones like speedo and techo. Too much tech is subtracting from a sense of quality and appearence and now we have dead space. My subjective opinion is, I do not like some of the most modern dash and console layouts.

This new Lexus ES can easily be the best midsize luxury sedan in its class. I’ve checked out the Infiniti G50, the BMW 5 series, the Audi A6, the Mercedes E class and the Acura RLX. The Lexus ES stands out as the elite of the bunch in terms of being plush, smooth ride, quietness, soft and luxurious feel. Moreover, Lexus IS known for reliability, longevity and low cost of maintenance. To top it off, the Lexus ES sticker price us lower than competitors except the Infiniti and Lexus enjoy the highest resale/trade-in value among the premium brand sedans listed in this message. Can’t go wrong with Lexus because Lexus ages like fine wine 🍷

I like it how people bash on Japanese cars and the technology used compared to the German Elite Three.
Firstly, Japan is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. It's not like it is lagging behind Germany anywhere when it comes down to gadgets.
The real reason why Lexus & Toyota will never use the newest tech in cars is quite simple - they would put only tried and tested mechanics & electronics, as the majority of those brands' clients actually BUYS them (unlike the leasing options preferred for Audi-Merc-Bimmer). So when you got the average American who keeps his car for an average of 11,5y, you won't rip him off with expensive servicing & tough maintenance. That is why the German manufacturers will be miles behind the Japs in America & Asia.
It is understandable that Europeans will prefer the best value for money in the short term, given the type of consumer thinking - rent, do not own.
But still - having a Lexus is stress-free, comforting experience that comes at its price.

Paul Shum No mate, bmw leaders in all three areas you mentioned. Please inform yourself before making such wild and ridiculous statements. Audi leaders in Tech you say? Please. Are you just repeating what their adverts told you to say in a bit to appear knowledgeable? Do some research. Here's a starting point for you, two biggest car makers in the world, VW group (including brands audi, seat, skoda etc) and Toyota build cheaper mass produced cars, Good cars at that. Toyota have brand Lexus, which is Toyota in wolves clothing and VW have brand Audi, which is a VW in wolves clothing. Audi a1 = VW polo, audi a3 = golf audi a4 = passat and so on... Takeaway the body panels, interior, seats, and badges you wouldn't be able to tell if you were looking at an audi, VW, seat or skoda. Same engines, transmission gearbox, suspension, chasis etc. As you prove, VW do an excellent job of marketing audi as a genuine alternative to BMW and mercedes. Mercedes are great cars but not on same level as BMW.
