Its so weird. Eminem came out when i was in high school, and no ones parents would let the kids listen to him. Fast forward a few years, i have kids, and my wife and i have never had a problem letting our kids listen to his music. I think its because we understand more where hes coming from. His music is born from trauma, hurt, depression, sadness, and it definitely shows in how passionate he is in his songs. The anger, the yelling, the cussing, its all born from that. This is his outlet. And a lot of his songs do have a positive message. And like he said in one of his lyrics, he hopes that his music can help some people get through tough times. But more than that is his talent. Love him or hate him, you cant deny his ability.
as someone who listened as a kid, i had a bad home life as a kid and eminem was my handrail because his music was something i could relate to. I understood what addictions and absence did to families and he often gave words to express that similar pain. Watching his addiction and him overcome it was powerful to me because it showed me that no matter how hard someone's upbringing is or regardless of bad choices, You still have a chance to be who you are meant to be and with enough hard work that you can make anything. He is my favorite artist to this day after 20 years of listening to him. I wouldn't have survived my late teen years if i didn't have some of these lessons that he talked about having to learn. Hes the reason i stayed away from drugs, and his lyrics mean numerous things because thats how good of a artist and wordsmith he is, and it introduced me to the idea that the world looks different to everyone who lives on it. I feel like i wouldnt be who i am without spending the time i have just listening
@@thatloserpig Even 10 years ago his full discography would have been like 100 songs. It would have taken quite a while for them to listen to them all.
Eminem's lyrics saves lives and will motivate you to stand your ground not alone. He creates stability for those losing so much by transporting them into a stance of strength and truth. I love him. I didn't commit suicide so many times bc he saved me. He made lyrics that put my experiences in words and lifted me up to keep going.
Yes! I also believe that the one grandpa who said that only low IQ people would listen to his songs is partially wrong. I personally believe rap is just as legitimate as poetry, even more so. Sure, rap can be about boning many women or one specific woman, but at least it's direct about it as opposed to most poetry which dances around it for 30 stanzas
rishi dharan What are you even talking about? He said rap was poetry, not music. And you don’t need harmony or melody in poetry last I checked. Also, it is a valid form of music. A lot of rap songs have plenty of melody and some harmony. A lot of music doesn’t use all three elements. Music is music and you can’t take that away, especially when you don’t know what you’re talking about.
@acid5378 hell even Michigan Live in an quiet suburb by myself with my family and we still knew Eminem’s family well and talked multiple times. his mother was an asshole
@@conaloflaherty9867 I doubt that'll happen. Unlike our grandparents maybe majority of our parents if you are 17-21 years old and your parents are 40-50. We will understand the future generation since we were immersed with technology unlike those who came before us. We would be open-minded, I'm not saying that the boomers aren't but our way of raising a kid will be different. I predict that our kids will be much closer to us and more open since we are "cool" because of the age gap. Unlike now that are parents smacked us in order to develop positive attitude.
9 years ago and I just found this!!! I can’t stop laughing… “ oh that’s cheerful”😂! I can’t… this was hilarious! I really want to hang out with Holgie and jam! My favorite thing is every single person knew or heard of the name Eminem, that speaks volumes about our Michigan boy!!! Shout out to the gentleman from Detroit!!!! This was a keeper-saving it now!!! 😂😂😂
"He's so authentic that he crosses the color barrier. That's what you look at. You don't look at whether he's black or white. You look at his artistry." - Beautifully said. That is indeed Truth.
The woman in the pink, Holgie gets it!!! Music isn't always about expressing happy emotions, it's about expressing emotions that are REAL, and sometimes that happens to be sad and angry emotions.
i feel really bad for the people who were saying they wouldn’t consider this music and they don’t understand it. since it’s start, hip hop has been used to tell some of the most beautiful stories and some of the most influential statements. people use it to share emotions, bring awareness to struggles and inspiration to all people. i just hope one day they can appreciate or at least acknowledge the talent and importance of hip hop.
I think it comes from a lack of point of view. This is the music a lot of us grew up with and relate too. This goes both ways though. To understand why elders have the opinions they do, try immersing(and I mean truly immersing) yourself in the music they grew up with. It really is like being on two different planets so I dont blame them for not liking it.
Even though some of them clearly dont „like“ rap its just nice to see their reactions :) Also the way theyre giving him his well earned credit is just nice to see
They don't make second parts, so maybe teens react? I'd suggest When I'm Gone, Sing For The Moment and Criminal (if it must be a single, then Without Me)
Emmay864 Well thing is they got a bunch of different elders like they have a bunch of different kids and teens so they can use ones that haven't done this yet.
FUN FACT, Eminem got hi name from his initials Marshall Mathers which in initial form is M and M and after looking at the way the MnM brand spelled it he said he liked the way it looked written out and that he got the name Slim Shady from being calling him slim as a kid for being skinny and he associated shady to the name for all the shady things hes done and been apart of.

I was reading this as soon as the guy said it
I personally believe rap is just as legitimate as poetry, even more so. Sure, rap can be about boning many women or one specific woman, but at least it's direct about it as opposed to most poetry which dances around it for 30 stanzas
👏👏👏
ECL28E I agreed with you until you said more so. No form of art is more valid than the other.
Rap has rhythm but it still misses melody or harmony
Hello Mrs Jenkins, I thought you hate youtube, but here you are giving us lessons
rishi dharan What are you even talking about? He said rap was poetry, not music. And you don’t need harmony or melody in poetry last I checked. Also, it is a valid form of music. A lot of rap songs have plenty of melody and some harmony. A lot of music doesn’t use all three elements. Music is music and you can’t take that away, especially when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Nooooooo i dont want to be a boomer
@@conaloflaherty9867
I doubt that'll happen.
Unlike our grandparents maybe majority of our parents if you are
17-21 years old and your parents are 40-50.

I'm beginning to feel like a rap god

Elders React to Eminem part 2
If you please, have them listen to:
Mocking bird
Sing for the Moment
and The Real Slim Shady
This needs to be up voted to the max.
Goleon True, but I doubt their reaction would be much different. Seeing a different generation's reaction would be completely different.
And kim
The lady in the pink sweater is me in 40 years
FUN FACT, Eminem got hi name from his initials Marshall Mathers which in initial form is M and M and after looking at the way the MnM brand spelled it he said he liked the way it looked written out and that he got the name Slim Shady from being calling him slim as a kid for being skinny and he associated shady to the name for all the shady things hes done and been apart of.
He actually changed from M&M to Eminem because he thought if he ever blew up and got big there might be legal trouble with the candy company.
At the end of Stan when he says that it was you when he drove off the bridge it gives me chills down my body.
Wait he was talking about himself? :/
@@elispabeth it’s not known as Stan, if I’m correct the 3 are Marshall, Slim, and Eminem himself. And yea you’re right tho, just that it’s not called Stan.
@@elispabeth a "Stan" is a crazy fan, not one of his personas. Em basically writes a part 2 of this in "Bad Guy" where it's like the fan speaking directly to him in the song.

I love to play Eminem’s songs when my grandma is driving, We’re French so she doesn’t understand English (especially that fast). She never listens music if I’m not with her but just to share a moment together she appreciates his talent and me translating his songs for her to understand better my love for his art and what made Eminem write these lyrics. (Just imagine a sweet lady in her seventies listening to Kim, White America and Mockingbird; trying her best to understand what her granddaughter likes when this guy’s voice blast in her car)
It made me angry when one of the guys said loose your self was full of anger. The song is about about standing up at striving for your best.
