Damn, that was actually a really fun PvZ... how often do we get to say that? Extremely impressive creativity and execution from Astrea.
Indeed, Astrea playing 4-dimensional chess, playing to force the response from Lambo while already preparing his response to that response back home, and at times even pre-preparing that response. The Adepts into Phoenixes into Archons and High Templar and then into Carriers? Lambo kept trying to play catch-up but Astrea was two steps ahead.
I thought so too. So much unit variety. I'm a zerg fan but I'm glad I got to see a fun Protoss player.
Yeah! Wow! Astrea looks on point. To be fair, his mindset wasn't to play PvZ it was to play Lambo specifically. That he did. Impressive.

Loved the dominating performance from Astrea, especially the SHEER GREED in the second game. A Protoss with that level of economy can just bludgeon their opponent with their wallet, and that's exactly what Astrea did. His "throwaway" units like Adepts and Phoenixes did so much damage that there really wasn't much the Zerg could do, especially after getting two crucial upgrades denied.

When protoss players have fun the game whole game becomes funnier. I watched this with a smile on my face the whole time.
It reminds me of HAS.
I hope protoss players rise and games like these become more frequent.
I love how Astrea played the opponent. Like, the Adept pressure in game 2, he did indeed focus down as many Queens as he could, but he also duped Lambo into expecting mass Adepts, as you say not only did it force out more Zerglings but it made him go Roaches, slowed down his economy with the loss of the Queens and the larvae for the Zerglings, and it made him hesitant to move out since there could be a huge Adept force ready to jump on him at any moment. But in actuality, Astra went for Phoenix knowing his opponent would not be ready for air units, and it caught Lambo completely off-guard and for it Astra got some free Overlords, Drones, and a Queen.
I like this kind of game way more than the usual. As you said, it's the player playing the player more than the build, and it's unorthodox and risky to play, but unique and fun to watch.

Astrea is SO much fun to watch. 3 different strategies and builds in one match which lead to a 3-0 win. Amazing job. Keep up the amazing casting Lowko! :)

All seriousness I saw this series live and was so happy as a cheeky protoss layer. I love when Astrea does his crazy builds. Great commentary and cast as always my guy!
oof that salty "GG" by lambo at the end truly showed how fed up he was with that series. i think astrea was in full control the whole time because lambo didnt make a proper stand.. each early game was dominated by astrea because lambo wouldnt leave his base.. and well.. you dont need any defending units if the zerg has his hands full defending
Yeah, I was wondering what he was talking about. Protoss didn't win because of an "epic movecommand". Astrea outplayed him all over, and phoenixes and disruptors are some of the hardest units to control in this game.
That sounded like he was lamenting his own mistake tbh - the push that got his Banelings detonated early by the Disruptor.

12:40 Lambo surrenders the Game at the exact moment he saw that the Disruptor was going to hit the bulk of his Ravagers. He knew there was no chance to bounce back after that.

If I was playing as Lambo, I would have my entire day ruined from Astrea's constant frustrating strategies. You keep having to face issues one after another, non-stop. You barely can get a break.
The second game in particular, Astrea was continually producing a set of units that the counter to his current units couldn’t deal with. Basically forcing Lambo to never have the units he needed.

Game number 2 with the surround on the roach ravager army was sick! Almost got the high templars biled too. Was intense.

Astrea plays the most cinematic Protoss ever. Aggressive Prism warp in play and tons of Protoss diehard, I mean zealots, all shouting "MY LIFE FOR LULZKEKW"!!!

Astrea has to be the most underrated Protoss player in the game. I remember when he was playing vs Trap in IEM Katowice 2020(?) and the Twitch channel point bets were something like 90-10 for Trap. Astrea then proceeded to win the series and one of the games with a proxy nexus even.
To be fair, Trap is Trap.

This is so much more fun to watch than the usual top tier games imo
32:40 This reminds me of top chess meta. Top level play, the "optimal" games are already perfectly explored, known, and memorized. There's so many openings that will almost always result in a draw. Announcers will literally say "He's going for a win" if a player takes a less optimal, or unknown path, that introduces complexity and with it, the chance for victory.

Me: This is the only strat I've played on ladder for the last 10 years.

That series was very entertaining to watch and would love to see more 'active' Protoss games. Almost felt more like a TvZ, keeping the zerg off balance and guessing.

Astrea with the Protoss is a threat ... He knows how to defend himself ... and against offense ... He is a monster.... Lambo does everything possible ... I love that Astrea makes full use of the Protoss stable of units.
Very refreshing versatility. Astrea will be preying on more predictable opponents. Hopefully this will make for more variation amongst all the pros.

Astrea seems to be favoring more complex armies (as opposed to a predictable build order) with a little of everything. Honestly, I think they work well together and play off each other's strengths and weaknesses. Fun to watch.
Astrea's game two, for a moment, looked like a PvZ in Brood War. I thought he was going to pop all those Overlords like balloons.

I havnt played in quite a while, and I dunno if this is present in the game or not but it seems like its not: wouldnt it be prudent for Blizzard to add a feature to SC2 where if you have a large group of units selected at once, with different casters in that group, then you get a tray of ALL of the selected casters abilities available to you from out of that whole group? That way you dont have to have each individual type of caster control grouped in order to micro their abilities.
Just curious Zerg players would you rather go against the plain usual skytoss that's everywhere on ladder or against protoss player who mind games and tech switches out of your counters and can play both ground and/or airtoss.
What counters? The solution is to build twenty Queens anyway, teching up with Z takes years. Lambo literally started Zergling Speed at the same time Astrea started Stargate. Astrea was making Templar and Immortals, Lambo just got to Roaches.

All these players have in common are all of them are defensive players. But soo boring to watch.
Aside from Dark, in which I am a big fan since 2016. There are way less aggressive players nowadays in the professional scene.
How the warp prism actually works is that it turns units into an energy signature that is stored in its crystal, then turns them back into matter at the destination...sure. Sure.

Because He had invested to much in roaches already and had no Real counters to this Army. Disruper will make His roach army split Up. Force shields blocks the advance to the Colossos. And they are the Main hitters but He needs His roaches to clumb Up to get Them down what He cant because of the disruper and He cant get a Surround neither because of the force shields and then we have the stalker with blink which will make a Retreat Impossible. They will blink Forward and behind the force shields and kill all the units.
So at this Moment Zerg would have lost everything while protos is basicly maxed out and zerg has No Real counters at the Moment while and can only produce the same Army again to stop the upcoming protos army. So the Fight would just repeat the same way and Then its a maxed out protos Army versus Zero zerg units and a bunch of structures.
After all this years i learn that a phenix can lift eggs huh
