30:55 everyone seems to miss that Bly first neuraled the observer so infestors stay invisible. man, great move 👍👍
Really pivotal move, infestors would've been dead in the blink of an eye otherwise.
It baffles me that he was able to so quickly find and select that tiny little Observer to pull that clutch move in the first place.

@@joshuakim5240actually , I think , that was a lucky little accident: Bly probably did use rapid fire to cast neurals on the front line of Cobra's units at the very moment when the observer was flying over the second archon in that line

Neural on the Observer at the end was clutch.
I'm even inclined to believe it was the winning move. Protoss couldn't target the infestors, and zerg got the vision/detection he needed !

I'm just imagining the Star Crafts version of this, with a dozen zealots whaling away at things... then all of a sudden this tiny egg in the corner erupts into a 40-foot giant. :D
Bly is one of the best players to watch as a spectator, he is always fun to watch. And he is probably the only Zerg player that I find myself rooting for when I watch a PvZ match. Great video!

Sometimes I feel so bad for SC units, like those 5 zelots trying to do a runby on a base where there are 5 ultras + a bunch of queens. It's like "Are you sure about this boss? Alright..."

There lowko just play like that. Great match! I know when I played SC2 last I would always tunnel vision first or second fight then realize I never made any more army. With my mad 32 APM don't know how I ended up losing.

With a couple of broods at 26:30, he could probably pushed back those templars and keep his air units into the fight and win. But with that many tempest, I kinda understant why he didn't want to commmit to broodlords and risk getting them sniped one by one.

I have been looking for a "ground view" video, but can't seem to find one. I have seen small trailers and screenshots or what not, but wouldn't it be pretty cool to see 2 massive armies going at it from different rotating ground views as if we were standing on the battlefield? I think that would be sick

King Cobra needed to push harder in the midgame. When he had those Phoenixes and Void Rays he needed to go all-in on Skytoss and just burn those Corruptors out while using Zealots to harass the ground. That gives the Zerg a choice: spend their Larva on defending the air or the ground.
Also, I'm so sick of any game with Zerg in it coming down to either Infestors or Vipers (or both) and every game with Terran in it coming down to Ghosts. If they make a SC3, they need to put a little less focus on a handful of really powerful spellcasters when looking at late-game balance.
If the pro Zergs players are winning late game, then the solution for everyone else is to "get gud."

I am biased but I feel like zerg has to work way harder to win these late game battles than terran or protoss. Where are the games where zerg loses 100 drones and still seem like they are in it? Other races have these different turtle up or comeback mechanics that the equivalent for zerg seem weaker or at least harder to pull off. Behind as terran? Drop mules, make a bunch of mines, turtle up. Struggling with late game counters, just build ghosts. Behind as protoss, air army, stay around shield bats, canons. What is the zerg equivalent, make a ton of queens, have 3 spellcasters microed? Anyways wah wah big baby lol
I actually watched a video from winterstarcraft talking about balance e patches and I commented something similar. Here is what I wrote:
"I am currently silver and play Zerg. I cant seem to break terran early enough in the game and past the 5-6 minute mark they seem to snowball. I can max out but they just bunker up with mass siege tanks and thors. They post up and dont move an inch.
Meanwhile I need to use a unit comp of 5 or more units, include spellcasters and also micro to even start to break anything. I feel like the matchup is frustrating for lower skilled players like myself- it requires way more than I can do currently but the terran can just a move or siege up.
My game plan was usually go for roach push around 4:20 but a siege tank on the high ground always seems to ruin this plan. Should I go for baneling bust instead? How do higher level players feel about zerg v terran early game?"
There is a clear distinction I am of lower skill level so I may be biased as well but I agree with Zerg having to put in a bunch of effort to achieve the same results of other races. The whole swarm mechanic feels moot if they can take out your swarm with a bunch of sheltered units.
@@KryselITG I hear you, it's been a long time since I've played competitively and never much at that. Last I placed was mid Platinum, so definitely a very average player myself. That said I can play at roughly the same level with my off races that I've spent maybe a quarter of the time on just based on easier more efficient unit design architects.
@@TheJunkernaut Doesnt mean shit bro. I'm a T master and played 80% of my games as T and still am master as Z and diamond as P. So what's the exuse now ? Most people below GM kinda have similar level with all races. Your knowledge and mechanics don't disappear when you switch.
@@warnaoh No excuse necessary I'm not trying to rank up or play competitively lol. I understand what you mean with some crossover in skill. At the same time pretending the game is perfectly balanced at all skill levels is a farce. Even if you get it "right" at one skill level it will be somewhat unbalanced depending on skill level apm and game knowledge. Units that are useless at one rank may work pretty well at another because they take less apm to manage or are more forgiving to mistakes.

You pointed out something interesting. Zerg won the air game handily. But because the only Zerg air unit that can acutally do anything against Skytoss is the corruptor, they couldn't actually do anything against the rest of the ground army. Meanwhile basically every unit on the protoss side can attack both ground and air.

Is it though? The company gets more money if people like to play their game. If for 99% of the playerbase your game is poorly balanced - these people will eventually quit, and it won't help your game one bit that 10 pro players are still playing it.
Blizzard was making the same mistake for a loooooong time with WoW - they balance and develop it aroun top 1% raiders as well as the bottom 1% super-casual players who just don't care about any balance so you can do whatever. And this leaves 90% of their actual playerbase constantly frustrated and/or disappointed.
On Lowko's point that on the very top, Zerg lategame is stronger than Protoss, that's because the skill level of Protoss pros are way below that of Zerg pros. Which is why we usually end of with Zerg heavy top placements in tournaments. However, balance-wise, Protoss is the stronger race, as shown by the results of lower than the absolute top of starcraft.

fat fingering a key is where your finger either slides off and hits another key, or your finger lands between 2 keys thus messing up what you were trying to do.
how the hell is zerg balanced? I've seen so many games and in late game. zerg has 80% chance to win. 95% against protos.

I just realized that your balance patch was for grandmasters who are not the top 5. What a strange perspective to balance a game from. Either you balance for the top players in the world, or you balance for casuals. You don't balance a game for try hard's lol.

You can beat Serral with 100 APM, if every click would be effective. AMP means absolutly nothing in this game.
I disagree. There was an aI which got really good at protos. They had to hardcap it's APM to make it even remotly beatable (stalkers with perfect mikro beat everything)
@@stixinst5791 Well that could be true, but I was talking in practical way. Take me like a example, I have more APM as a toss than kingCobra and I am a fricking diamond, so apm like it is does not say anything about player skill. Of course, more effective apm means more skill, but no AI can calculate that at all.

And if you ever go above 1500effective apm you win no matter what and who you are fighting (you can split zerglings against tanks, have invincible stalker ball or tank juggle)
It is safe to say that effective APM matters a lot, while apm (as reported by the game) may indicate it
