It was because of the success of the first film that this version was made. But the franchise is a lot older then that. Based on a comic from The New Yorker in 1938. Wednesday herself is the pioneer of gothic/emo fashion, as well as their typical tastes in love interest (usually outcast dorks/normal kids with yuppie, over-controlling parents or in the case of Lisa Loring & Butch Patrick at horror conventions, pairing _The Addams Family_ & _The Munsters_ together by having Wednesday marry werewolf cousin Eddie [I say they're cousins, because Eddie's grandfather & Lilly's father, Grandpa Munster, is supposed to be Count Dracula, who is both his standard vampire self as well as _The Munsters'_ resident mad scientist not unlike the Addams' own Uncle Fester - whom creator Chas Addams based the most upon himself - but according to the 1970's _Addams Family_ cartoon, both Wednesday & Pugsley mention that Count Dracula is a distant uncle, so if Grandpa Munster is Count Dracula, who is a distant uncle of the Addams' children & genuine grandfather of his werewolf grandson Eddie, who is the son of Grandpa's Vampira-merged-with-Bride-of-Frankenstein daughter Lilly - who is named after one of the Count's victims in Bram Stoker's novel - and her lovable oaf of a husband in Grandpa's Frankenstein's Monster creation, Herman, then that makes Wednesday distant cousins with Eddie, despite the worked marriage]), since she came before Lydia Deetz from Tim Burton & David Geffen's _Beetlejuice_ (the phonetic spelling of Betelgeuse as the name of the sleazy "Ghost With the Most" con-artist, fittingly named after the star that is the armpit of the constellation Orion the Hunter), Raven alias Rachel Roth from Teen Titans (created by Marv Wolfman & George Perez in DC Comics during the 1980's, but made more popular through Tara Strong's voicing of her as a gothic stereotype in the 2003-2006 Teen Titans animated series whose art style borrowed a lot from Japanese anime & even had Japanese pop duo Puffy Ami Yumi - who later received their own cartoon titled _HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi_ featuring animated caricatures of the duo & their road manager Kaz - singing the title theme song [Tara Strong also reprises Raven in both the _Injustice: Gods Among Us_ video game & the _Teen Titans GO_ parody series of the original that began in 2012 & is still going, with the idea of bringing back the original for season 6 & possibly more if the _Teen Titans GO_ movie does reasonably well, according to recent rumors]) - Sam Manson (the gothic vegan girlfriend of Butch Hartman's human & ghost halfa Danny "Phantom" Fenton, who secretly helped his ghost hunting parents Jack & Maddie bust Slimer green [a clear reference to Ghostbusters] & ethereal blue ghosts as the resident superhero of Amity Park [which is named after _The Amityville Horror_ naturally] despite also trying to navigate the perils of school life as a tween at Casper High [named after _Casper The Friendly Ghost_ of course], before the final season exposed everything & everyone he has kept his secret double life from knows he's Danny Phantom & he finally committed to his romantic relationship with Sam [which is done similarly to the animated Lydia Deetz & Betelgeuse relationship, except more age-appropriate, with no questionable age gap or being alive versus dead stuff between them & being more concretely solid than that pairing, which is still all about subtle innuendo than directly coming out & saying that Tim Burton paired up a sleazy shyster of a poltergeist freelance bio-exorcist with an underage suicidal emo-turned-perky goth junior photographer, although it is not as if the movie didn't already try it with the forced marriage bonding Beej to Lyds for his entire afterlife from thereon] after countless "Will/They Won't" ship tease moments in previous episodes) & Gazlene Membrane (appropriately shortened to Gaz - since her name is a wordplay on the combustible nature of gasoline in reference to the little girl's abnormal fiery temper - she's is the 9-year-old video game pizzeria addict sister of big-headed paranormal scientist Dib, who is himself the rival to the titular megalomaniacal Irken, ZIM, from the Nickelodeon cartoon _Invader ZIM_ that was created by Jhonen Vasquez, the twisted creator of the morbidly satirical comics _Johnny the Homicidal Maniac_ - about a murderous psychopath named Johnny, nicknamed "Nny" for short, and his interactions with others, most notably his love interest, Devi, whom he stalks & has made physically ill on so many occasions due to his occupation as a serial killer to spawn the spin off comic _I Feel Sick_ centered around Devi's conflicted feelings concerning Nny - _Filler Bunny_ - about a bunny who feels so dejected that he repeatedly tries to commit suicide - and _Squee_ - about a little boy named Squee, so named after the terrifying shriek of joy that fangirls make, who finds himself in scary, horrible & depressing situations, all because Jhonen loves making super fans squirm & otherwise feel uncomfortable ["You know, for kids", as "The Nostalgia Critic" Doug Walker would say]).
Actually, the blood from the gashes and chopped off arm were props made by Fester, but the rest of your point is still valid.
Jason Tachin You would be better if going against Uncle Fester’s wolverine.
There’s a RUclips series where Wednesday Addams as an adult and she goes to the hairdresser
It was an interesting idea for an antagonist for the Addams Family. Have their next door neighbours be underwear obsessed paranoids.
Gotta love the irony.
At least their son was cool.
I remember in the intro how he just jumped into the Addams' train ride and had a great time, while his parents ran for it.
Ikr- at least his son is more AWESOME
My daughter LOVES the Addam’s family she is going to be Wednesday for Halloween! 💚
U beautiful af
that's nice
That's nice
And this is why boys growing up in the 90s loved Wednesday.
Besides Christina Ricci in the live-action theatrical films from 1991 & 1993, also.
When Wednesday pulled down her sleeve I think she was like: OH YOU GONNA DIE BITCH
A fortunate turn of events for her that Wednesday appeared to be in a merciful mood. Whatever she did to this Grabsy Mc-Bill fella, it must be a real doozy if even *THE ADAMS FAMILY* can't talk about it out-loud.
How can Wednesday think to be polite at a time like that!?
"Professionals have STANDARDS!"
-The Sniper
because Professionals have standards. be polite, efficient, have a plan for everyone you meet.
IKR😂😂😂 SO POLITE IN A CRISIS HAHAHA
This was the best Adams family cartoon series.
" Yeah - and with one of my inventions" lol Fester was pure comedy gold in the animated series
Moral: Don’t mess with the Addams.
Reminds me of Debbie........
It might be...
She knew she messed up
What the crook didn't get: the loot
What she did get: those hands
4:11 Excellent playing Lurch.
Lady : was, what did you do to him?
Pugsley : you don’t wanna know.
Wednesday : (pulls down sleeve)
Me : this can’t be a good sign
Agreed.
Whatever it was, it must be a real doozy if an Adams can't talk about it.
Do NOT mess with the Addams Family.
No argument there.
actually they can....... at their own risk.
Don’t touch Wednesday’s braid or she will turn u into a braid
Elayah Adams There’s a series on RUclips where Wednesday is an adult and she visits the hairdresser. She warns the hairdresser that her hair is sensitive.
Yep
a zombie with a RUclips account it’s called Adult Wednesday Addams
She be rolling that train like:
"NO! HIT THE BRAKES!"
Taking hostages
1st try: no too creepy and happy!
2nd try: Uh... maybe TOO big.
3rd... ah yes, the two brats would make perfect hostages!
(big mistake! LMAO)
Wednesday Addams was voiced Debi Derryberry, who also voiced Jimmy Neutron.
Best Fester, Best Pugsley, and all the others are amazing
Wednesday, Pugsley, i Like the Way you Two Think.
Why Normanmyre! I didn’t think you cared! Ha!
I LOVE how they take it maturely :)
Blossom44100 That’s because they take it as a compliment. They take offense when people call them nice things
@@squishyty918 true
@@squishyty918 It is quite enjoyable to watch. They are not what we would expect of normal people and yet their differences are what we love about them. It makes their lives quite enjoyable, actually I think they enjoy their lives more then most people do.
James Vach Hmm maybe society should change its life style to be like the Addams family. The world will be a better place
I love that Thing has a little cap too.
I find it cool that John Astin reprised his role for the animated show
It's downright frigid.
IKR.... To bring back his own memories.... 😢
He also voiced Gomez back in the New Scooby Doo Movies Wednesday is Missing episode as well.
Ah, the pinnacle of my school day nights. Good times~!
This brings back memories from when I was 6 or 8 years old and I woke up early in the morning and watched the addams family on my father's Old DVD player the good old days 🙃
R.I.P Uncle Fester
Can;'t believe he died.
Damn, a real shame...still, at 88 he lived a full life.
I'll miss his voice so much! :'(
I always love this series.
Me too
Why was Wednesday always trying to kill Pugsley for?
Dark Wolf. Don't worry it's like playtime for them
They always rough handle each other like that.
It's their way of bonding with each other
There has to be a reason?
It's play interspersed with sibling rivalry. Remember, the Family is nigh-immortal.
Dude I haven't seen this cartoon since I was a teen so cool
I didn't even know this existed.
I thought the movies I watched as a kid were the original.
It was because of the success of the first film that this version was made. But the franchise is a lot older then that. Based on a comic from The New Yorker in 1938. Then they went to television in 1964. Plus this was their second animated series. In 1973 they had their first animated series after their guest spot on The New Scooby Doo Movies.
I was way too attracted to Morticia as a kid
We all were.
That breaking the fourth wall part though. Hee hee!
were do they do that?
@chriskasmarski5709 The woman turned to us viewers and said 'Excuse me just a moment.', before taking Wednesday and Pugsley hostages.
Rob Paulsen is a delight in every role he does.
edit to add. The names of the dances at the end of the episode and the reasons why they can't do one in particular is one of my favorite parts of the whole show.
I love this show!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Eushabelle Nicole Olmogues 😈😈😈😈👀😭😫😎😎😎😎😎🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇😙😙
I love that episode and someone tell that boys parents that no one cares what they say about the addams
Why Normanmeyer, I didn't know you cared.
I LOVE it when the Addams take people being mean to them as a compliment
@@Blossom44100 It makes life a lot easier for them that insults are compliments and attempts to demean them are welcomed. Normally I would say that someone in this situation has think skin, but I cannot characterize what this is. Whatever it is, I can honestly say that I envy them in this way.
@@jamesvach6698 Me too
Pugsly: you don't want to know. 😂
Haha I'm having debbie flashbacks Haha even thou this was before lol
Why haven't this came out on DVD yet?
Right!?
I would have bought this on DAY ONE if came out on DVD or Blu-Ray.
@@fugitivehunter me too!
I never did like when people call the Addams ghouls, morticia maybe and lurch definitely, I like to think of them as enthusiastic people given the gift of immortality and feeling that in order to be a nice person you have to indulge in a little bad.
1:48
“Can’t this thing go any faster?” She said the magic words
I love this version of Pugsly cause his a polite demonic little boy who loves to be tortured and loves pranks the one from the Netflix Wednesday series has disappointed me, they made him purposefully weak and cowardly just to empower Wednesday even though she was already empowered, fun and sweat with a monstrous twist to her in this show... why is Hollywood destroying good characters 😑. why?
True 😢 I still miss the older times hahahaah
I like when Wednesday said *mother can I borrow the iron maiden*
See, the Addams are wonderful 😊
With up and coming 3d animation...I literally can see this clip as an animation already boii oh boii
2:41 Norman Mire. Just because the Addams Family is very weird and scary doesn't mean they're bad people. And they don't mean any harm.
Badminton with a grenade that's a bad mix but hey if it works it works
who else remembers cousin ed?!?😘😘😘😍😍😍😍
It was Cousin It
Spelled *It* originally then *Itt* for the shows and films.
"You chose the most romantic night for our twenty-second date." I would lose count after five dates!🤣🤣😂😂
I love how they got John Astin to reprise the role of Gomez Addams here.
0:44 Ok, 1st of All, never grab Wednesday's Braids.
0:56 And the way I'm hearing this, if I had to guess that Wednesday put the last criminal to sleep. If you know what I mean.
Something tells me they would fit right in the warhammer 40k universe... so much misery... so much fun
3:00 Look, who's talking, underwear man! Aren't you're the one, who always scheaming against Addams family, trying to destroy them?
THAT was their 22nd date? Then what was the 23rd?
I can't say for sure, but I have a strong feeling it involved flaming hot pokers
My guess. Scuba Diving at Krakatoa.
What was the previous dates?
@@ilikethecokev2 I think that was their honeymoon 🤔🤔🤔🤔
My guess would be taking tap dancing lessons in a minefield💣💣💣💣
She just threatened Fester with a good time
This is so fun to watch!
I love that John Astin voiced over this Gomez
He also played Riddler from 1960's Batman and Gomez Addams from the live-action version of The Addams Family
@@lisettegarcia7013 Frank Gorshan played Riddler in the 60s Batman.
@@CMan-x7k For the most part, that's true, but in episodes when Frank Gorshin was unavailable, John Astin substituted for him.
Sean is lucky to have a dad like him.
Who's here after the Addam's family trailer just dropped out?
Wednesday handled the criminal good since Mei handled Tyler on his own birthday in Turning Red.
