Dr. Janine shares the real cause of obesity and how to lose weight. She talks about how the missing link to losing weight may be your hormones and something called leptin resistance. She explains that leptin is a hormone that is secreted while we sleep, but only on an empty stomach. Lastly, Dr. Janine offers some tips to help fix leptin resistance like seeing the early morning sun, stopping eating three hours before bed, and eating a high protein and healthy fat breakfast.

Giving up sugar and flour would also make a huge difference. We still eat wonderful food with great taste. And I have lost over 25 lbs in no time

@@cadence3523 Don't give up. You can do this!!! After menopause it's been rough. I am using the Value Diary app to track my food intake. It's amazing once I start tracking, I am conscious of how much mindless eating I would do. It's a struggle.
My problem is I dont really eat much sugar but I am still not losing weight.
Ever since I gave up cakes, ice cream, soda, fried foods.. I am losing weight little by little. I also try to eat at 5pm and sleep at 8:30pm then workout at 5am it helped me tremendously. When I'm craving sweets I drink carbonated water to calibrate my sweet palate to neutral and it works. Also, I only eat avocado or steel cut oatmeal at nighttime. Coffee in the morning and a big lunch. Hope that helps some people that are trying. It's not an easy road but one step at a time 🤗
Wait, are you saying unflavored carbonated water gets rid of your sweet cravings??
I ask because I tried adding those 0calorie drink enhancers to seltzer water to replace the taste of soda when Im craving a sweet, and they make me SO MUCH MORE hungry. I notice I eat more, and like Im hungrier and never satisfied, but I suspected it was the 0 calories drink mix. If I can drink it unflavored, and it still gets rid of the cravings, that would be amazing! I never tried it though because its such an acquired taste, and I didnt think something unsweet could rid a sweet craving lol.

Blaming hormones of not losing weight is just a way of not taking ownership about your eating habits while dieting. Fat loss is determined by reduction in caloric intake.

Very good for becoming keto, hopefully you’re not avoiding animal fats? Consider transitioning to a carnivore diet if you to become the most healthy and robust version of yourself by miles

Obesity is a medical condition. Stress is the root main cause of obesity.
If I don't eat right before sleeping I can't fall asleep. I'm laying here hungry right now so I can't get to sleep. But if I go eat something, I'll probably be out within 10 minutes.
Yes this happens to me also. So if I get up at 2am and have a half of a peanut butter and jelly and a little slug of milk ,I go back to bed and I'm out . Idk of it's the milk or if it's all in my head 😂

The research for a couple tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, in water, after your evening meal indicates that it helps suppress night appetite and helps regulate blood sugar. It can't hurt and might help.
@@cristiewentz8586 No, legit no meta analysis (high form of research) of apple cider vinegar proves it helps with weight loss in a significant enough way to suggest consuming it.
CICO and TDEE along with a balanced diet is the way to go. Not some fad.

Very true. By doing this with a calorie control diet and moderate exercise has helped me lose over 4 stone.

All of these three tips are impossible for Obese people٫ If they followed these tips, they would never get fat😢

What about skipping breakfast? As intermittent fasting, restrictive eating with 16 hrs fast, and an 8 hr eating window or one meal a day, isn't fasting a good tool to loose weight and maintain a good metabolism?

Better skip the dinner, you need energy over the day and during the night being full of food is semi optimal but still works to loose weight... I lost most of my weight when I skipped the dinner.
Bacon and eggs 8am and steak and a salad at 3:30 pm. Water and water and water 8 hrs sleep.
@@maxmusterwitzig9287 It also depends upon work schedules, etc. I get up around 5am for work and have to be at work 6am so it would be harder for me to make a breakfast. I’d either have to get up earlier or just grab something at work.
@@maxsmart8954Skip the salad. The rest of what you said is gold. Eggs, bacon, and steak. If you want to be at your absolute best then just eat red meat, salt, and water.

I'm very lean but bloat with anything. I workout and eat pretty well. I tested negative to certain food allergies sensitivities. How can I lose the belly bloat and fat?

My probllem is I get up very early. Our family dinner (that we can all eat together) is between 6 and 7pm. But I am in bed at 8pm.

what if no sunlight
love love love your podcast but I disagree on breakfast. I think intermittent fasting until noon is a way to go to maintain a balanced metabolism..
Every metabolism is different, I did it too, but I can't work or do anything without carbs, I need "sugar" in form of carbohydrates over the day. I think to loose weight it's better to skip the dinner! When you eat all the food in the evening and go to sleep, your digestive system has a hard time on working on these carbohydrates.
Lot of other's agree with that too. Whatever works best for you though ! There's a lot of disagreement about fasting methods.

I don't eat past 6 or 7 and I go to bed at 11. This allows 3 to 4 hours for digestion which is recommended. Since I do not eat carbohydrates, I'm not craving a high-carb breakfast in the morning. I too used to eat oatmeal and toast for breakfast but now just coffee with a splash of heavy cream. Now when I eat carbs, I feel sluggish, fuzzy-headed, and I crave more sugar and carbs. I am 61 and my weight is appropriate for my height (I would always love to lose another 5 to 8 lbs). I feel great. When I eat carbs, I feel terrible.

"Eat in moderation" is horrible advice. As soon as I cut off ALL sugars, grains and flours, the fat melts off my body. Even indulging on the weekend, kept me "skinny fat"

Fat=Fat. The fat u eat is the fat u wear, even healthy fat. Do u need fat? Yes, but not very much at all and definitely not fat from meat or dairy, which is very bad for everyone. Please get fat and protein from avocado, nuts and seeds, and vegetables. Yes, vegetables have protein. We don't need meat or dairy in order to get our dietary needs met.

How about skin cancer people.
Doubtful anyone would get skin cancer from the a few minutes of sunlight in the morning…. Arguably getting zero sun is worse and causes vitamin D deficiency which is way way worse.
