- In this new episode of our widely treasured Electronic Beats TV Blind Test series, we dive back into the depths of Acid Techno. Building upon the success of our previous 90's Techno 303 Edition Blind Test, we proudly present part two, this time with a playlist curated by Oliver Bondzio from Hardfloor.
Joining us is none other than two-time Blind Test winner and Sonic Groove boss Adam X, the UK based Hydraulix founder, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Stefan Robbers, one half of the Dutch duo Acid Junkies, Tel Aviv’s Dasco, Clone Records main man Serge and last but not least, Spanish powerhouse Alienata.
Please note that this video is not filmed in real time. It’s edited to create some tension so that you in front of the screen can guess as well. It doesn’t say anything about how fast the participants recognised the track etc.
All contestants receive one point for both artist and title correct, but only half a point if they can only guess the artist or the title.

The guy owned and operated the legendary Sonic Groove record store in NYC forever. He's a walking encyclopedia of techno. I knew as soon as he was included in this lineup, there was no one to match him. Get his brother Frankie in the mix if you really want to see two music heads battle it out!
Adam is the one! I had some party where he played and there were few people around but the music was Ace!

absolutely. he's such a crate digger and his passion for the music is palpable.
You get 15 minutes of educational entertainment for free and still some people find something to complain about.

Adam X is amazing. Even when he doesn’t know the track he can still figure out the artist or label. He’s one of the best out there and I was lucky enough to get to hear him and his brother DJ almost every weekend in and around New York during the early 90’s

Great fun doing this, crazy how hard it is to even recognise the easy ones once you are there, but still it's fun and I really enjoyed hearing some great music I didn't know, big ups to everyone involved.

Love the blind tests. I have no idea about many of the genres, but love peoples passion and general nerdyness and the ability to tell you where they bought it, when, what the label looks like, where it is in their collection and the first time they played it.

The crazy thing about electronic music is that a track created in 1990 with the technical resources of the time still sounds as good in the age of artificial intelligence, and a good piece of acid music still makes you dance in your chair.
Love seeing the hardware setups for those that have them in the background. Makes a bedroom analog producer drool. ❤

Shout out to Oliver for the great selection and big up to Adam X for once again nailing the blind test. Definitely not an easy one but it was so great to discover some more obscure early 90s acid tracks. Will also spend some time on discogs and snatch a few before the price rises...

Blind test is my absolut favorite on RUclips since it started and I’ve been waiting for episode 33 for months! Acid happens also to be my favorite genre, great work @ElectronicBeatsTV, another absolute classic episode!

But not sure yet how many will find their way there this time. Not all of them, wasn't my favourite kind of acid.
Seeing this and listening to Hexagone, Burning trash floor, has really opened my eyes to acid techno (after 30 years of listening mostly to other kinds of techno and house). What a great track.

I was too young for the days of Caffeine (and I had only moved out to LI in 96 when I was 16), but many of my olde friends would always regale me with stories. Caffeine still sort of exists. It’s now a DJ academy operating out of the back of iDJNow (formerly Abracadabra).

I played with Henry a few times back in the day... I remember this one particular rave we were playing, and mind you, I was spinning house, banging house from the late 90's and Henry was up after me. When he arrived in the booth, he said hello and told me that it was one of the best sets he heard in years, and it was because I was 'locked in', in a trance spinning state... To this day, it was probably the best compliment I ve ever heard.
Adam X reminds me of Prof. Andy Pavlo so much. Those who listen to acid techno and do database engineering would know exactly what I mean by that. He is the only other person who would say - "this record damaged me" Cheers Adam, I will see you in NY soon!
