    Great concept, but attached USB connector instead of removable cable is a huge inconvienience regarding the form factor in my opinion.

    • @3lapsed
      @3lapsed Месяц назад +1

      Get a quality USB extension and it'll be that form factor you want

      The point of a static usb connector is to minimize vibration because the tube is sensitive to it. He says its sensitive to vibrations very clearly, its not going to help if its slapping against your phone in your pocket while you walk

    ain’t buying that with that USB sticking out like that. it’s 2024 and these companies still don’t do their research

    We chose USB-A because it is more durable. We tested USB-C and it could not support the size and weight of the chassis and the fail rate may be very high. We prioritize our products for reliably / durability over convenience. Also, USB-A can be converted to USB-C (included) or Lightning via Apple adapter to support a wider range of devices. Many computers (Mac Studio, Mac mini, gaming PC, etc) still have USB-A in 2024. Additionally, your high bandwidth USB-C or T3 ports should be reserved for devices that needs the speed / power ; audio DAC does not. ~ Mike

      I get the idea, but I think having it built in at this size is just bad in general. USB-C makes it usable on a phone, but if that doesn't work it probably should have been a removable cable instead.

      I think having a female USB-A would have been more beneficial with an included type a to type c or lightning. Relying on the USB for the weight is still pretty dicey.

    • @endorphinADMIN
      @endorphinADMIN Месяц назад +9

      a usb-c female on the unit with a soft cable would have solved any durability concerns - users of such devices (especially at this price point) are cognizant of the delicate nature of the tubes inside and would take great care when plugging and unplugging the soft usb-c cable, as i do with the fiio 17 and my iphone / ipad. the phone ($1600) and ipad pro ($2000) have sensitive usb-c ports themselves, no abuse there, no structure or durability issues, while the ipad pro is huge (13") compared to the tube mini. problem solved.

      He meant female usb. You didn't want to do it for unjustified reasons. End of.

    • @DMS3TV
      @DMS3TV Месяц назад +23

      USB-C female would be optimal. Using a male connector on the device is... a bit silly.
      Questyle m15 is a perfect implementation of this.

    I like the idea of having a portable tube amplifier but the problem I see is that the longevity of the tubes will mean that I will have to go through a technical service to change them and with the subsequent expense of money. Greetings from Spain.

      Which is the wrong reason to choose it. See my comment under the pinned one. The choice makes no sense from an engineering perspective and it is a pitfall other device manufacturers already learned from decades ago.

      I dont know of any other dac amp of this size that has actual tubs and not nutube. There are a few portable tube amps, but not all in ones. If this is somehow what you want, then it's the price to pay.

Dude this channel has been losing faith with people that view the content or buy on its website because you guys just don’t seem grounded anymore… no pun intended.
