  • As a society we have been telling stories since the beginning of time, as a functional method of passing down traditions and keeping important messages alive. However, over the years stories have evolved to form more complex meanings that are subjective to each person who receives them. From fairytales, to Shakespeare, to more modern books, I will be delving into how their meanings have been twisted over time and how they can be received by different groups of people and ultimately, the importance of literature in our lives - a crucial form of expression that has shaped our connections and relationships with other humans since the beginning of time. Ella is a student at Francis Holland School, Sloane Square. She plans to study English literature at university. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
