- In this video, I show you my UAD PLUGIN Vocal chain for my microphone the Neumann TLM 103 Paired with the Neve 1073 SPX preamp for Voiceovers or recording vocals into Pro Tools. Universal Audio is my favorite company for audio interfaces for studio. Universal Audio has a UAD console where you can add plugins and in this video, I'm using the universal audio twin x paired with my condenser microphone the Neumann tlm103, and AMS Neve 1073 SPX preamp. Rapper/Producer 30KillaBeatz/RIch Goat was born Brandon Beasley in Detroit Michigan, 30K was raised by his hard-working mother and stepfather in multiple locations such as Virginia, Tennessee, Germany, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Hawaii because of his father's affiliation with the military. He was also known for getting in trouble in school and starting fights. After school, he would go to the Youth Center and wait till his parents picked him up after they got off work. There he saw an old piano that the other kids would play with from time to time. He was amazed and started messing with it himself. He got so good he played one of Beethoven's songs in front of the whole school. All the other parents were amazed and asked his mom if young 30K could teach their kids how to play the piano.

yo bro remember i got the same spx 1073, we been doing it wrong, to get the most headroom and cleanest saturation we suppose to crank the trim/output all the way right, and input should be low and no low z input, leave it unpressed, alot of people told me that and electronic engineer erikson from erikson labs too

Bruh! A transformless mic doesn’t cause pops and clicks, the signal is CLEAN/pure it is transformer-less. Transformers inside pre-amps via the input and output stages add color to the sound.

i just bought the wa73 and i have to say its amazing for the price it sounds just like the one you have the only difference is that yours has that little bit more 3d sound to it but its so close to the real neve its crazy.

I’m from San Francisco got a x6 and all the plugins you talking never heard some one get so detailed about it love your videos please do more like this but add reverb too the other side of the inserts for a better performance
You can boost the output knob all the way up to get the cleanest sound and then adjust your actual gain
I do that but it has clips in the daw fucking still comes out clean as fuck
Absolutely wrong about transformers. That transformerless mic outputs supremely clean audio, they removed the transformer just for that reason! Adding a transformer introduces subtle amounts of distortion, which many people like a lot, but it is in fact distortion, adding harmonics. So it's the other way around bro.

I never seen someone use the LA2A and the CL1b together cause they are very similar optical type compressors. Very nice straight to the point clip for an old fart like myself trying to up my game to the 2020’s type production. I don’t have a Neve hardware unit, I can’t decide on the Ams Neve o the RND Newton channel with the silk red and blue options. But for sure will not be buying a real CL1B any Time soon$$$ way over my budget

Yes! It can but your trying to using it has a plug-in your going to need to unplug an output and use that as an input to the line level
Yo quick question what separate programs did you download to fix the crackling / popping? I’m having the same issue on windows 10 / Apollo twin x

Im having trouble hooking up my pre amp to my Apollo. It wont show anything on Analog 1 but works for analog 2 can you please help.
I saw a newer video where you said use the low z with the Tlm 103 but in this video you didn’t use it ? Just curious why was it because you just didn’t know at the time of the video . Wondering because I have the same exact set up
I use a TLM-103 in my VO studio and was considering this NEVE 1073 to replace my aging Aphex Channel strip. Thanks for the advice about the transformer output of the Neve.

I found the only way to bypass the Apollo pre is to run a balanced xlr to 1/4 inch cable into the Apollo and change the input from mic to line. This way you are not running the signal form the spx through a preamp at all.
For the twin x yea use that cable along with turned the volume all the way down the interface. Thanks for watching 💪🏽

So you running a pre amp, auto tune, compressor, and eq in that order?
This is an extra $300 over the bae dmp 1073 which I used to own. Should I try something new and get this for vocals? Is getting the actual a step up from the bae and better resale value?
I think it’s worth it for the ams neve 1073 spx because you get the preamp plus the eq and other buttons that help in most situations like being able to change the impedance. And it’s has send and returns so you can use the spx like a plugin in pro tools
I would say that it is a step up because you have so many more options plus you can rack the spx in a shipping unit like the one mine is in just in case you need to travel. The airport will take it in as regular luggage. Thanks for watching ! 💪🏽

Question: is the neve 1073 spx better then the warm audio 1073 has anybody tried both of them?
I haven’t tried them both but for sure with the spx version Robert neve is helping AMS get the real neve sound.

How are you able to get the apollo console on windows? I have an apollo twin duo with windows 11 and i cant seem to get it to work
Honestly, it barely works on windows. It works perfectly fine in ProTools for some weird reason but not on other programs. I had to use a patcher program to get the microphone to work on other programs. Without that program, I can only listen to music through thunderbolt. Also, make sure you have a Intel computer.
this is what drake and lil wayne and travis scott and especially migos, use this to get that buzzing sound in their voice, the secret, ofcourse they usually use a sony c800g for detailed modern vocals and a tube tech cl1b after 1073 for that pleasant opto compression

@@30killabeatz yeah tory lanez uses it alot, tupac used it too, i like how it makes the S words sound, its that harmonic distortion, but i would go with sony c800g for the crispy vocals that sound radio ready

what pc laptop u use that got uad working & with no cracking>?
I still have that issue but I’m using a program to fix that and I’m using a razor blade laptop

@@TrapZooCease it works in protools out the box without any programs. I use to the crack program fixer when I’m making videos for RUclips. So far it works wonderfully in protools with no issues
