  • Traveling and packing is stressful as is. You're looking over your list and have seen videos reminding you of the usual: toiletries, seasonal clothes, charger, etc.
But dont forget some of these things that might not have crossed your minds!
They may seem simple and you'll probably brush over the thought of carrying around a hand towel, but trust me--you'll need it. See why each of these are pretty important!
    0:19- hand towel
    0:59- passport, tax-free shopping
    3:00- coin purse
    3:49- JR Pass (warning)
4:41- portable charger (see recommended brand)
    5:35- handheld fan & tumbler
6:20- pocket wifi versus e-sim card
    8:25- extra suitcase
    ------------------------------
*If you're looking for an e-sim card, check out airalo! Super convenient and no need for a pocket wifi. Download airalo and use my referral code and we will both receive $3 credit: LILY4992
    *site for bookings: KLOOK
Use this link below and save $5 on any attractions, transportation, hotels, and more on KLOOK!! Book with my referral link and we will both receive a $5 credit :) JR pass, Tokyo Tower, theme park, museum tickets, trains, hotels, it's all here!

KLOOK is also explained in this video:
Also don't forget to make reservations before you take off! Some of these reservations require as far as 90 days in advance. Here's a video with some tips for reservations and what DOES require rsvp beforehand!

Also keep in mind that if you shop tax free, some stores will insist on stapling the receipt in your passport, with a stamp half over the receipt and half on the pages of your passport.
If this is procedure, they might be shocked if you tell them that this is not allowed with your passport. Passports from my country can't even be handed over to people that are not officials (customs/police), and no one is allowed to alter/perforate it at all, again, unless they are customs/police.....so a shop clerk stapling something through the pages would cause issues.
Do not try to explain this, it will cause discomfort to everyone....just opt out of tax free shopping....

Will pin this in case folks have the same passport/coming from the same country! Thank you for letting us know!
Opting out of tax free really does seem to make everything so much easier at the end of the day

I came back from my trip to Japan just recently and all the shopping I did with tax free and all they did was scan the QR code on the passport showing validity of my stay in Japan. they did not stamp my passport with a receipt like they did in my 2019 trip. kept my passport pages more cleaner this way. I think the data goes over to Japan's customs. But I think certain people WILL get flagged if you go over a certain limit on purchases. What amount that is might be unknown and they can check you at the airport for the goods you are taking back with you to your country.

Nice vid....just sharing some of my experiences (i) I've been to Japan over 20 times and never got checked for tax-free purchases but I have heard that the Gov't is thinking of changing the system so that you only get the tax refund at the airport and (ii) suggest that people bring a medium-sized ziplock bag with you as there are very few bins around Japan. You need something to temporarily hold your trash until you spot a bin.

    • @xtigerleelee
      @xtigerleelee  9 месяцев назад +1

Great tips! 🤦🏻‍♀️ i cant believe i forgot to add the trash bag tip! That was in my original notes (and one of the reason why i wanted to make this tip video) and i completely forgot! That definitely is an important tip, thank you!
Pro-tip for those reading: you can get doggy waste bags at daiso as well, which is what i brought from home with me. They come in rolls of 3, which is plenty! Definitely bring some kind of bag to keep your trash in. It was really difficult to find any trash bins.
