- Frank Pinello visits Google's headquarters in NYC to see how one of the world’s top tech companies feeds its employees. Googlers in New York have a variety of food options. From Mexican food to sushi to butternut squash spaghetti, the choices are endless. In this episode of A Frank Experience, Frank learns about how choice architecture-backed layouts influence employees' food choices, tries his hand at rolling sushi, and talks to some of the world’s most-well fed employees.

Frank is the kinda guy that makes everybody around him feel good and appreciated ...
He genuinely just understands! I’m glad this was uploaded I haven’t been seeing new videos from him lately !
frank's a good person that worked his ass off, usually these people disappear in the economy and get rich, here he's doing documentaries
jesus christ I didnt notice that I got that many likes
You pointed out something everybody noticed he radiates good energy...
Frank is a beautiful person!
They serve good free meals so that you feel obliged to do more and more for company, Google wants their workers to stay in office as long as they can. No one will complain about more working hours cause you are most likely to stay. My cousin also works in the Google France. He works over 10hrs and don't feel tired.
He works over 10 hours my god!! Go to any other company that doesn't have perks, most people are pulling 10+ hours most days.
I worked at those office a few years myself, was great. Trust me no other company takes care of their employees like they do.
That’s they way a company should be. Makes you feel like home and part of a family
Lol 10hrs when people in France only work around 30-35 is Okay , but in the US there's people working 80 hrs a week and two jobs just because they're bored
10hrs is normal working hours😂😂 if uou are saying pulling 14 to 16hrs a day and not feel tired...then you get 👍👍 . 10hrs.....😂😂 that is like clock watcher workers
When a tech company makes you feel so at home you forget to leave.
and that's where it gets scary.
Tech companies offer so much, that the employee's do not want to go home.
That’s why they offer it, so that you are more dependent on work and work more
@Harry Sachs it's honestly not that bad u can leave at 6 at google too
yup, but a lot of them don't and thats why the turnover rate and burnout rates are so high
that's their goal, they will 'eat' the cost of feeding you but at what cost do they expect from you in return? People don't see how this effects themselves from having a life outside of work. I guess if you are a tech nerd that just codes all day, you'd consider this pretty good since you probably never shaved or made a meal.
“Tech companies have been known to treat their employees great, especially with food.”
*Laughs in Bezos”
@@Foronymus Actually not true in regards to food, Amazon corporate doesn't provide meals (even to engineers), only bananas and coffee.
yeah i had a friend who worked in a management position at amazon. Shitty job, amazingly stressful, and they were constantly dealing with unhappy employees under them (because of the terrible working conditions and culture) while also dealing with garbage from people above them.
How about Apple employees in China?
@@JSMStudios1 I've heard of "Amazonian culture" & the BS they expect employees to endure, but to not even provide free meals for a billion dollar company?? Bezos is a cheap SOB lol.

that's how he surpass google and microsoft so fast
"I work at Google."
"Really? What do you do?"
"I'm a chef."

most chefs are TVCs (speaking as a former TVC myself) so, literally, you do say I work AT Google, not FOR Google.
@@harrycampbell5016 Pretty much every corporation is like this and has services contracted out. Janitors, chefs, etc.
the original google chef is a multimillionair because he got paid in stock.
I was impressed after a recent career change that my new employer had a fulltime trained barista making coffee free of charge for us. This is next level!
Bruh, we recently got a water purifier in our breakroom and that alone made me get a water bottle knowing I could fill up with pretty cold filtered water at any time. Haven't bought a soda since. Not quite like a chef making us food but hell, I dont even have to rely on bottle water now which is super nice.
my company hires prostitutes to assist the engineers in "release". But they only come in Weds and Fridays. Yeah I work I.S. in Vegas. Good times.
:( My old boss charged us fifty cents for a K-cup if we didn't bring our own, lmao. Glad you're working in a better environment now!
@@daniellew.9957 I had a boss who would turn off my L.E.D. desk lamp when I would leave for a 1 hour break. And this was a big corporation. Finally I yelled out "WHO TF IS TURNING MY GOD DAMNED LIGHT OFF" He walked up and was like I AM. Cheap ass it costs like half a penny to run those lamps for 24 hours.
Self employed person " My full time trained barista making cofee is a damn coffee shop"
i knew they provided meals but didn't know they were so gourmet! WOW. edit: love frank but the chef is really nice man too!! so encouraging and patient.
They're amazing, and it's for free
Well when you want to keep your employees at work and just work all the time then you gotta provide the best for them.
@@KauaiBallerof2012 right!

When i think of a google employee the guy in the glasses and black shirt is definitely what comes to mind
i'm pretty sure everyone there looks exactly like that
its sad because he only gets 7 minutes for lunch, which by law is ILLEGAL, you get a minimum of 30 minutes for working under 5 hours and 1hour over 5hrs.
@@aliciar4274 i think it depends on the state that you live in and whether or not you're paid hourly or salary. in my state, you have to be scheduled 5 hours or MORE, and then you have to take at least a 30 minute lunch break.
@@kellz6266 yeah but whatever place he lives that has to be illegal because he works like 14hrs a day and he barely gets 10 minutes most days... like wtf thats not right at all... idc how busy he is he shouldnt be slaving away so hard they need him to skip lunch basically
@@aliciar4274 I work at google. in this office. He isnt forced to work so much that he only has a short time for lunch. we make our own schedules. often, lunch gets booked over but his point is that because all of these options exist, he's still able to have a good, healthy and delicious meal even on days where he's running between meetings.

@Patrick Parcivel why the negativity at least try to appreciate him for having the balls do something he was passionate about
Where are you working now Frank?
@Patrick Parcivel right damn i feel really embarrassed its just you never know on the internet
@@yahoomail4908 right now I'm working in the birthplace of Harry Potter in Edinburgh, I'm leaving next week to a small pizzeria.
@Patrick Parcivel it's not the main reason I'm leaving. It's just what made me go with my decision. I had 2 weeks to find a rent, had no luck, ran out of time, my favorite workmate left too and the 2 other ones are leaving in 1 or 2 months. No way I'll live in a hostel with people in one room. And I was thinking, "Do I really want to do this?" And I felt like I have to be somewhere else. So I'm moving to a smaller place with less stress around me. I want to open a small pizzeria once or a place where I can sell "Lángos". It's a traditional hungarian food, pretty simple, cheap, and if you come up with a good tasting recipe, people will come back for it. I enjoy the smaller things in life, money is not the only source of happiness.
Our personal data pays for all of this, so I think we should be allowed to go in and eat those tasty burgers for free too 😂
Your data also pays for you to use software for free without having to pay money for it. Even DuckDuckGo uses the data you use during that individual search session to deliver targeted ads
I agree
@@SurprisinglyDeep Why so serious
@@victortang94
It annoys me when people think and act like Google and other companies are just "stealing" their data.
Like no company can create and maintain complicated software for free (even open source software depends on donations.) It all needs to be paid for somehow.
Also people using AdBlocker can cause many websites (blogs, webcomics, news websites, etc) to go bankrupt. Those websites depend on ads to survive financially.
Lol
Who else wanted to work for Google after watching this lol
Me lol
Millian Macalintal how strenuous was the interview process for him?
I do, however I've met one of the representatives from Google
Not me. I’ll never work for a giant corporation.
Yeah I've eaten at Microsoft before and it was delicious, they had a free taco truck for everyone.
I remember working at Silicon Graphics in the early 90 when we invented this. Our food wasn't free but it was heavily subsized. I would go in and have a big lunch of pasta, or Mexican-style food, grilled, etc., and always have a mountainous salad at the end. And then were some many absolutely MAGNICENT burritos places in the back of these tiendas (little Mexican grocery stores) in downtown Mountain View where you could get a rice, black or regular beans, [choice of meat], Pico de Gaillo, avocado, cheeses, and other fillings of your choice burritos. You could make 'em as big or small as you wanted, depending on what all you wanted in them. I used to drag some 2-pounders out of some of them, and you could always tell the new or "hot spot" by seeing a line out the door of pasty white people wearing Tevas, shorts, and golf shirts (usually with the company logo).
Good times...
You probably worked with my dad Ken
I wonder if people realize the reason they serve free dinners is because the engineers work insane hours into the evening

Did you hear the google employee....sometimes he has about 3 mins for the meal.....don't let that slip
its actually 30 minutes break, but its up to you for go back straight to your work or just do something else, my friend was at Google SG campus, and i once meet him at lunch break since there is no absence system, you could go straight away from your office and no body know. they only demand you to finish your work ontime, they dont care if you workin it on the office or cafe or home etc
Hadi Hassan
Jobs like this you set your own hours. But the catch is there is huge pressure to reach certain outcomes. This might mean you need to work all day to finish a job.
Probably because of excessive meetings. As a developer you rarely run into situations where you simply can't develop fast enough. It's all the extra bullshit they pack into the day which prevents you from doing your measurable job.
