Just bought my 2015 ex-l res, in comparison to this 2016 special edition it seems it differs only on a few things. seats, mine comes with leather this one in review only have cloth, and the vacuum is available now on this model 2015 only available on the touring. The mpg is quite accurate I'm average about 15.2 l/ 100 km on hwy and 21.6 l/ 100 km. I hope the next generation will come with a better fuel economy and perhaps an AWD option. But at the end of the day it comes down to its smooth drivability, and the space! 3 kids ranging from 8 to 3 months, I'm happy and their happy. It took 3 months of arguing with the wife because I would rather have a 2016 pilot. But I'm tired of sleeping on the couch so I caved. But it seems that I made a good choice in getting this vehicle. Thanks for the review it helped me a lot on going for the van!
To get the honda MPG engage the cruise control, When you take your foot off the gas pedal and use cruise control for long stretches of the road, the engine will do it's best to turn on cylinder deactivation system and you will get better MPG every time. I get the stated MPG and in some cases exceed 28 highway doing 70 - 75Mph. The record so far was 31Mpg for a full tank on the highway at 70Mph, cruise one, no city driving.
+Sergei Zhukov I have the 2016 Honda Pilot, which has a 280hp V6 engine vs. the 248hp V6 Odyssey engine. I very recently took a short highway trip (I-25) North from Colorado Springs (Colorado) to Castle Rock, turned the cruise control on for 75mph at the I-25 & Northgate on-ramp, did about 75MPH until I was just past Monument Hill, then re-set the cruise control to 70 for the rest of the way to Castle Rock. It was only a short 27.8 mile non-stop highway trip, but the "average fuel" mpg was 33 mpg even doing mostly 70mph. Not sure how the Pilot's 280hp engine gets better mileage than the Odyssey's 248hp engine (especially if the Odyssey also has "cylinder deactivation" to run on 3 cyls when all 6 cyls aren't needed), but will agree using the cruise control on longer (freeway/highway) trips is recommended. But I'm guessing that's what EverymanDriver did -- so I can't explain the poor mpg for the 2016 Odyssey vs. the 2016 Pilot. Whatever, I was very pleased with this decently powerful, heavy car's highway mileage capability. -- BR
A year after this video was made my family bought this exact car, same color, trim, and options. I had watched this video in the past and I just noticed 😆. We love it and don't plan on getting rid of it for a very long time 😁
I have 2014 ex-l and I get around 22 mix (60 percent city). however, if I drive mostly highway, I do get close to 26. Seems like there isn't any change between 2014 and 2016
I have a 05, city mpg has been around 17, 18 with no passengers. But on the highway, with ac and full load (7 people and luggage), I consistently got 24, 25 doing 70 to 75. So it's a great road trip car, not so much as a grocery getter unless you have 6-7 people to haul around all the time also, is the lazy susan between the first and second row gone?
I have averaged 28mpg on open highway, and seen 31 on a few short trips. around town in stop and go traffic provides 15mpg. It is 4500 pounds to stop and start. Honda GPS is terrible! I got a new $150 Garmin to use instead of using the one built in. I stuck it on the dash, and accidentally knocked the gear shift into Neutral a few times.. Not good. Sliding doors will not open while in Neutral without foot on the brakes. Learned that after a year of wondering why it would not open when I wanted to. Door lock on drivers side door, but sliding doors open/close are on the front dash on left side. It is annoying to have to look at what you are doing because the buttons are in different places and have not real feel when looking for them.
Nice review Dave. I am not sure if this is a worthy suggestion but can you consider giving some insight about the tires that come standard with the vehicles. This might be useful for Fwd vehicles that are driven in snowy conditions. Thanks.
Honda has been using this material for some time on different trims, and in our accord which is 4-5 years old it had help up great , also it stays clean.
They ruined this minivan by incorporating the vacuum in the spare tire spot, forcing the spare tire into a very awkward center floor position and ELIMINATING a large under floor cargo area which I LOVED. *GRRRR* Make the vacuum OPTIONAL and give us that under floor storage back Honda!
I am considering to buy 2014 odyssey touring with 134000 km OR 2016 odyssey ex with factory installed DVD which has 100000 km on it. Both are same price range. Which one should I buy? Does both have apple car play and android auto? Does 2016 EX has 115 volts outlet in back seat?
Hey Everyman driver I like the review that u did with some of the car and I also love the review u did about the new Honda Civic which is awesome and plus I like the explanation with the odyssey and all the car that u did it's awesome and I like it and do u mind if u could review a 2005 Honda Odyssey if can just asking because I want to learn about that and I my familly also have a 2005 Honda Odyssey so pls I want to learn about the 2005 Honda Odyssey and keep up the good work also 😂😂😂😂😂😂😉😉😉😉😉
He's talking about the fact that Honda "in this day and age", 2015 or 2016, is still using 'composite video' (red/white/yellow) video/audio connects that were in all the old TVs rather than using something like an HDMI connector. I thought the same thing at the 5:32 mark when they showed those ancient red/white/yellow connectors. No audio/video devices use those anymore and haven't for awhile.
Are you sure SE stands for special edition? I thought it stood for Standard Edition. This is base right? So standard edition makes more sense than special edition.
SE is for people that fall for the line SE thinking you are getting more than what you are. Granted, the RSE on SE trim is nice, but most will pass on that 1990's grey cloth interior.
+william ingram jr I bought the SE for its purpose and value and not for its looks. The SE includes DVD, Auto Sliding Doors, the mid row can be converted to Captains Chairs, Vaccum, Dual Climate control etc for $ 31,500, net of $ 4,500 discount with Honda reliability. I like the Dodge Caravan too and it is the cheapest van for people that dont/cant spend that much. Sienna has AWD but the Odyssey SE just have more tech
+Everyman Driver Hey, even the combined 23 MPG you got is better than the approximate 21 MPG combined I get in my 2002 Ford Taurus. BTW I'm also 6' 7" in height.
i am pretty late to comment , please to try to drive little faster over 100 and check this vehicle stability , it does not support as much Honda think its air dynamic , drive this van under 100 is awesome but over 100 out of control .. just tested long time ago and found this problem , and other hand Over head Multimedia system don't SD or USB option at all , Bluetooth work fine over call but if you stream music over Bluetooth u get 5 second delay and if some one watching any thing on Ipad and trying to broadcast sound over van audio via Bluetooth u get delay of 5 second , and that sucks .. pretty old multimedia console
I was going to only buy Honda but this can was a disappointment to me. The interior is horrible no leg room at all. Also it's all cheap plastic like Honda Civic. I thought also the seats were not that comfortable compared to Sienna. I really think also the exterior is ugly as can be its suppose to be Honda but it was not what I expected out of a Honda vans

+Erick Cuartero this is the stanard verion, you cant compair, your exl is so much better even though it is one model year older
No you don't understand what I am saying I'm saying your touring is so much nicer than the car being reviewed. I'm not being rude.

new vehicle where the engine hasnt been broken in yet will be less efficient.

youre the best eric! thank you for doing such a great job with your reviews! i am a big fan and have watched most of your videos!

The key to frugal fuel consumption with the 3.5l V6 is keeping it below 2k rpm. I routinely get 25mpg in mine.
Old comment I know, but this guy must have a real lead foot or do a bunch of idling.

Pretty much has everything my 2013 touring has except the 16 doesn't have a Son Roof.

thanks for this.I'm so excited to get a used one next month✌🏻🙏🏻
My only complaint is the 20 years old info entertainment system and no psi display at lower level. Don't get the 10 speed
What engine does this have?
Could you install Honda's IMA hybrid system into it?
You fill out those jeans REALLY nicely. Oh, yeah, great review!
What kind of comment is that???
I just switched the interior lights to LEDs and posted a video on my channel!
Hey Dave,
it looks like the cloth that Honda chose for the seats would show a lot of wear easily over time. what are your impressions?
Honda has been using this material for some time on different trims, and in our accord which is 4-5 years old it had help up great , also it stays clean.
What kind of power seat adjustments does it have, for the driver and passenger?
They ruined this minivan by incorporating the vacuum in the spare tire spot, forcing the spare tire into a very awkward center floor position and ELIMINATING a large under floor cargo area which I LOVED. *GRRRR* Make the vacuum OPTIONAL and give us that under floor storage back Honda!

please review the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.
SE = special edition which = the last year Honda is building this generation of Odyssey...hear the 17s are going to be very nice...
Do the middle row seats come out all of the way? That is very important to me.
Thanks for your reply! :-)
tscooter22 yes they do
How do you turn off eco mode?
I think the EX-L is the best bang for the buck.
I like how it fits 8 passengers

Do the wing mirrors fold?
I think honda is still using composite video cable
5:32
2016 and still using composite video.
That video was from 2015... what are you talking about? Thank you.
i think he is referring to the headline which says this is a 2016 model.

+Mayuresh Patel did you watch the first :11 seconds? The words "SPECIAL EDITION" are on the vehicle, I'm just saying :-)
+Everyman Driver Oh wow. I feel stupid. Somehow I completely missed that haha
Thenks for the presentation!
The SE (special edition) is the best buy. I got mine for $ 31,500

+Chummy Chime thanks for the reply
Hi honda whats so special about it to be special edition
For 2016 you said that a back up camera is standard for Honda....or everyone?
+Alec Hayes yes, that's what I've been told. Convertibles may be a different story but that's what I've been told.
+Everyman Driver Hey, even the combined 23 MPG you got is better than the approximate 21 MPG combined I get in my 2002 Ford Taurus. BTW I'm also 6' 7" in height.
I've heard it has to be standard for all makes and models.
Yes. Even the cheapest spec Fit sports one now.

Dave, what are the 8 trim levels?
LX, EX, SE, EX-L, EX-L w/ DVD, EX-L w/Nav, Touring, and Touring Elite
Great video, thank you.
0:49 - I love how Honda put's the battery under the air box, what genius.
That's the sorta thing you expect from Chrysler.
Thanks for this review! I don't want a minivan but it suits all our needs
I would rent one
25000 miles..avg 26.5 mpg. 30+freeway
2015. amsoil equipped
Great video.
Great Video 😉
Lol Howard stern. *high five *
Interior looks like a 2001 Chrysler Voyager

I like the 2017 sienna xle perm. Is way better
It had a vacuum!
