Note! There is a weep hole on the upper left side of engine where coolant leaks out into the intake Valley. This is the weep hole for the water pump when it starts to leak through the 1st seal. If it is leaking here you need a water pump ASAP! Don't procrastinate! There are 2 seals on the water pump. If the 2nd seal goes out you leak coolant into the engine and it gets in the oil and ruins your bearings and stops the oil from lubricating properly, thus the need for an entire new engine! Research this weep hole, know it's location and check it regularly!
Amazing, my Ford fiesta s was losing coolant and there was no leak turned out the coolant had served its purpose and the cap was loose (lost its grip). After coolant change and new cap the car is running an absolute dream and is more responsive
This is a great video. Thank you very much. It was the exact problem on my 2012 Taurus. Was able to remove air intake, battery and thermostat housing and pull tube out on driver side of engine. One of the seals was so loose, it almost fell off. Replaced seals, thermostat and gaskets and no leaks. Just make sure you get the tube pressed into receptacle that you can not see. I used a mirror, to make sure it was seated. Great advice. Thanks
There is a small hole to the left of the lower intake pipe and a leak is coming from it. What would cause that? Is it coming from the water pump itself?
you saved me from a dishonest mechanic who said I blew a head gasket,,,hahahahahah, no I did not buddy boy.... this pipe has a whole at the bottom and bad seals so I will never use that shop again...I fixed it myself and changed my water pump timing chain...only issue is rethreading crack shaft bolt....Thanks for your knowledge you share with us..!!!!
Do you have a video of the procedure to change that pipe? I have a 2016 explorer and have tried to change the O rings without luck to stop the leak. Would you use RTV/silicon as a secondary seal on the end of the pipe that presses up against the block?
I have 2012 Ford Fusion sport 3.5 and I was tester pump on coolant and come out leak from Engine between transmission thou flywheel plastic cover. so, your video is same my issue or other issue?
Yes. Remove the air intake, battery and thermostat housing. That gives you enough room to pull out the tube. Replace the the o ring gaskets and make sure you push the tube all the way into receptacle. I used a mirror to make sure. All worked for me with no more leaks. This is not my picture, I am the husband.
Ahora me entero que este auto tiene dos termostato quisas por eso se me este calentando cambie bomba , termostato y lo demas esta bien pero no sabia de este otro termostato.
Thank you so much for this video I was going to buy a Ford product with a 3.5 V6 after watching this I will gladly drive anything else that does not have an internal water pump design what a piece of garbage
Big thanks 👏🏽 so glad I found your site. I own a 2012 Flex Titanium w/Turbo. Approaching 180k miles, 2nd transmission. Can U share any info on the TCC, think it's transmission control solenoid???. My flex shutters when start off, lower speed & rpm's 1200 -1800, worse going up hill...Your Thoughts?
Change the transmission fluid and add Lucas transmission fluid additive. The friction modifiers in the old fluid have degraded. Drive it when done, it may take a couple of days to go away.
After 22 years at a ford dealer I know that motor better than you know the backside of your boy there. The most common point of leak is the water pump, oh.. yeah, the water pump and if I remember correctly..oh, the water pump. Other than that I have only one that leaked from the thermostat housing and only because it had 200k on the original coolant that corroded the outlet. So you guys need to stop making up BS content.

I have 2012 Ford Fusion sport 3.5 and I was tester pump on coolant and come out leak from Engine between transmission thou flywheel plastic cover. so, your video is same my issue or other issue?
Is it possible to change that coolant pipe without taking the manifold off?

My 2016 explorer 3.5 non turbo v6 is leaking coolant near driver side front door. I'm hoping it's this issue or a less . 75k miles, 2wd. Any inputs?
So what causes it to leak on the left side ? All that was talked about was the trans side.
Antifreeze is leaking near compressor side.
This is my problem all I can think is bad bad bad 😔 😭😭😭
What part number are the o-rings and gaskets
Yes. What’s the part number?
Could it be a bad water pump?
Thank you, I really appreciated
Thank you so much for this video I was going to buy a Ford product with a 3.5 V6 after watching this I will gladly drive anything else that does not have an internal water pump design what a piece of garbage
