    Thank you for sharing this information. Nice job on camera work. One of my daughters bought an Edge AWD 2009 with 120K miles and I’m looking at a list of repairs . I just completed 4 wheel bearings/brakes. I replaced front sway bar end links, one was broken, and I’m waiting for shipment of a driveshaft carrier bearing. The fans run all the time so your temp sensor video will serve me well. I’m also considering a stick of dynamite and a long fuse. Semper Fidelis Dave Heitman

    My over temp coolant light just came on on my 2011 exploder! NOPE!, Selling it for sure! Had to do spark plugs a while back what a POS! Soon my Add will read: 2011 Explorer for sale $2,500 under going price!! Mechanics special only needs a coolant temp sensor!! Bargain days are here!
    Never again, so unbelievable. This is also my second engine, lost my first well maintained never abused engine from a simple water pump seal going out. Genius engineers at Ford decided it was a great idea to locate the water pump inside the timing chain cover! Yup that cover that is full of motor oil. By the time you get off the highway after hearing all the noises it’s over. That was fun! Seriously unreal, 100 plus years of automotive experience in building engines and we are here!

      @Marc S
      Hiya Marc-
      That sensor HAS TO BE part of the "chain"...
      I replaced the fans and module, the thermo, you name it.
      Last year I had to pay someone to do the stupid internal water pump, I certainly didn't want to bother with it.
      I'm almost positive... It's GOT to have something to do with that Temperature sensor.
      If not, I'm thinking about buying five gallons of gas and a book of matches.
      That'll fix this boat anchor.

      Where you able to figure it out? My fans do not come on. I replaced the fans after checking the fuse and finding out it was fine. There’s power going to the new fans at the controller, but the don’t turn on. I can put power to the fans directly from the battery and they turn on. Now I understand if the radiator cooling fan doesn’t turn on if the coolant sensors is bad, but I don’t understand why the A/C wouldn’t turn when the A/C is turned on. Any help would be appreciated.

    I'll be honest and say that this MAZDA engine will be added to my list of "World's Best Boat Anchors", along with every other Fraud Motor Company product produced since the year 2000.
    In fact, the Flux that we unfortunately own is such a P.O.S., I've sworn off of ANY vehicle built post-1985.
    I'd rather rebuild 40 year old "junk" over and over again, for $2,500 instead of throwing away $1,500 EVERY TIME something goes wrong with this Flux... I call it that, because there's really no Flex at all to it.
    ABSOLUTE JUNK.

    You did a great video to explain this, but I must say, what a load of horseshit engineering from Ford/Mazda for a job that usually takes little time for the average car, if they had a threaded port on the outside head or near the thermostat. Ridiculous to have to tear a motor apart for what could have been a simple job. Engineers are book smart and common sense stupid. I have to soon do this on a 3.7 Mazda 6. Looks very similar design.

      V Hernandez The cylinder head is similar in purpose to the coolant temperature sensor, however, it is more accurate due to the construction and operation of the
      sensor.

    Nothing like everything being made out of plastic - such as plastic fastener clips - and - as in this video - plastic breaks after just short amount of weather degradation - makes the manufacture more $$$$ for cheap plastic now being used on upward of 30 -40-50% of new automobiles 🤨😡
