Lyrics:
Carelessly you sentence. How indifferently you kill
The prophecies of mans corruption fulfilled
Arbitrarily you harm. Snap your fingers, cue demise
Murder on impulse. Your evil inclinations wrapped in lies
Divine man. Appointed. Claiming the stern voice of god
Absolute judgments passed from where you cowards hide
The lair of snakes. Your dark haven
Where you and your ophidian partisans abide
The doctrine of your unholy trinity
The violence, the spite and the enslavement
You awesome monarch, you man of dominance
All shall be as you decide
Illustrious ruler of all things
Wield your razors, cut the flesh of man
Control, govern and lead us
Into the nightmare of your wishes fulfilled
Grab the reins, you awesome puppeteer, you conductor of chains
Redeemer. Unbreakable strings. Damnation leashes
Remote cords extend, the trusses they run
They stretch all the way behind the sun
So vain our attempts, the useless tugging
This meaningless gnawing at restraints by which we're bound
Hail the tyrant saint, the great bereaver
You will bow before the emperor crowned - Видеоклипы
I want a science show about the secrets of the cosmos hosted by Meshuggah.
*****
No shit, it was a joke.
It wasn't tho.
Aleksandar Georgiev Deeds of flesh would be more appropriate for that
Or we could take the song title literal and think about what goes on behind the sun while we're away
myruler89 thing is, meshuggah dont talk about the occult but they obviously study it. 33, ophidian, demiurge, its all gnostic and crowleyan references.
This is truly a special song, it’s incredibly underrated, especially the ending…like your really going into the sun and there’s nothing you can do about it
💯
It’s a metaphor of the veil of “truth and light” and showing that the ruler of this world puts on a facade, a lie, about who and what he is. That he isn’t pure and just nor righteous, and if we look where the trusses lead, beyond the blinding light (that hides the real truth) of the sun, we will see him for who and what he really is.

one of their best songs
0:00 - 6:15 is my favorite part
But that 3:52 - 4:38 part is a testosterone booster like holy damn it's pure Meshuggah energy hands down
But extend that out to 5:08.... *so* heavy!
4:38 so beautiful and as heavy as the beauty that is our sun.
2:51 My buddy cranked the bass in his truck at this exact moment and I swear to God it gave me the best heart murmur I've ever had in my entire life.
+Matt Top See them live..
Matt Top I bet! 3:55 gets my heart pumping on my iPad. . .
I think the word you're thinking of may be palpitation. A heart murmur is essentially a pinhole in your heart. Often congenital.
@@ishmaelseneca3389 from experience, a murmur is felt as a flutter inside your heart....a feeling that powerful bass hitting your chest can mimick
03:56 This riff (like a lot of Meshuggah riffs) makes me leave this worldly existence for a short while.
After 2:20 it's incredible how the song just keeps getting heavier and heavier and heavier with every section shift until the song just implodes in on itself
literally like a supernova
It's incredible how this band just keeps getring heavier over the years, i didn't think last album could be heavier than Koloss, but fuck *it was*, i just dont know what to expect from next album
What do you think of The Violent Sleep of Reason now? :P
Faaakin heavier than the heaviest matter on the universe.
Jens should write more, this song is fire! One of my favorites from Meshuggah.
This song is so apocalyptic sounding, really could be playing at the end of the world
I think “sum” off of “catch thirty-three” holds that position
For some reason this gave me "Love?" by Strapping Young Lad vibes.. fuckin' love it!
2:52 that drum works are similar
4:37 a truly incredible piece of music. It hits the heart.
Hit the guts for me
it feels epic, eternal, primal. I honestly can't properly describe it
Jens is a damn good songwriter, the other boys should let him write more often
Absolutely agree!
Did he write this song completely? That's neat, I thought he usually didn't do much beside doing the vocals.
yeah he wrote this all by himself according to the album's wikipedia page
Daniel Draugsvoll awsome Behind the Sun was such a surprise for me , that twist in the composure it is heaven simply put.
I thought he's the untalented one they kept just for vocals, holy shit, my fav Shuggah song is made by him
Easily one of the darkest meshuggah songs
Agreed, one of their darkest along with Nebulous.
Darkest and heaviest
There is a creepy pasta about the sun being a living supernatural being of contempt. This would be the perfect background.
5:30 is the most brutal and heavy riff I've ever heard. Surely my favorite meshuggah song, fucking love koloss.
KOLOSS = 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
same for me
Fun fact: koloss in Greek means ‘ass’ soooooo
The fact the the singer Jens Kidman composed this song, makes it even better!
@@Sanoss457 No you are completely incorrect. It means "Colossus". Don't spread false information.
This band was kept secret at Area 51 until now, they came here to earth to teach us how to metal, they are totally not of this world.
03:57 I CAN'T... MOVE. GUYS, I CAN'T MOVE ANYMORE. WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING??????
+The Lukeas ahahahah
The Lukeas that gravitational force was too much for me as well brother..
5:24...I just imagine a slow camera pan upward toward the sun, flares and geysers of fire belching out into space. There's immense mass and power and brutality in this song. It serves to remind me how terrifically indifferent the universe is to our existence, even if that isn't necessarily the meaning behind the lyrics :)
This song is harmonically brilliant. Can't wait for what they do next.
wait a minute this isn't a red hot chili peppers cover
Justin Ayers 😂😂😂😂😂
Not even close.
Both great songs.
One of the best bass riffs ever at the end of this song.
By far probably my favorite track off this album..and easily one of my favorite songs out of their entire catalogue. Just such a brutally heavy song, and something about the main riff has such an eerie-ness at least to me lol. Crazy to think how much they've evolved from the early days of Contradictions Collapse etc. to their newer material. In a lot of ways their sound is almost totally different from the early shit, but still has the same distinct Meshuggah sound that's unmistakable..I don't really know how to explain it haha it's weird. Just love how innovative and absolutely unique they've been since day 1...creating their own sound that was nothing like anyone else had ever done. Definitely one of the greatest metal groups of the past 20+ years, at least in my opinion haha. Been a huge fan since my dad of all people turned me on to them back in like 2004 when I was 14 haha. 12 or so years listening to these guys and being one of my favorite bands as far as metal goes; yet I still have never seen them live. Determined to finally catch these guys live one of the next times they tour through the Boston area I'll take the day off work if I need to hahaha. Enough rambling about them though, just gonna chill as jam out to their music some more haha.
EricJh21690 Meshuggah live is more than just a gig it's a physical experience unlike any other except perhaps Godflesh
I should be able to go to the movie theaters and pay $12 to watch space shit on a huge screen while meshuggah is on at 100+db for 90 minutes because that would be a better deal than these crap movies
lmao, damn right.
It never ceases to amaze me how Meshuggah songs are like 3-4 songs in one; rapid, drastic changes throughout, which is quite unique and one of the main reasons I love them
Terrifying. Gods' right hand of doom on display, with apocalypse music to accompany it.
best song of Koloss
sure, there may be heavier songs on this album but this one is my favorite. the main riff is so fucking sinister
3:11 is insane
311 is awesome but i think you forgot 2:20 ;0
It's curious you say that because Jens is credited with writing this whole song. It's very simple, not super polyrhythmic like the others, more accessible to people who have never listened to Meshuggah. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me. That main riff is absolutely terrifying--exactly what Meshuggah is all about.
nope. that belongs to demiurge.
Has anybody else been experiencing sudden level drops and rises in the audio on RUclips recently?
+Someone Had To I thought I was going mad!
+Someone Had To I thought it was my computer silently telling me to stop playing this song so god damn loud xD I'm glad I'm not going insane
+iAmColossus Haha same with me! I thought it`s some Windows 10`s secret ear protection thing XD
+Someone Had To It's just this song I think! Some kind of a built-in noise gate, made me think my headphones were broken for a while. I'm glad you commented this.
+Someone Had To oh yes! glad to know it's not my soundcard
Might be their most beautiful song
Got to be one of the greatest hard Rock\Metals SONGS Of All Time
That last riff is the heaviest thing in existence
The opening bass ain't exactly light, too... ;-)
The word 'light' cant come with the same sentence with meshuggah
I dig the song, and the NASA image used for the video.
same here. I keep coming back to this
Probably one of the best Meshuggah songs. Reminds me a lot of Gojira at 4:37.
its probably Gojira that reminds you meshuggah
Humba W haha. Well, in that particular section, it sounds like they are channeling a sound that Gojira has patented. That part isn't exactly typical for Meshuggah, and while I don't doubt that Gojira was influenced by Meshuggah, they've definitely cultivated their own sound by now. So! 4:37 of this song reminds me of that patented Gojira sound.
Jatinder Gill I totally agree, and it doesn't take anything away from this song or Meshuggah to say that. Gojira and Meshuggah have a collaboration song. They have worked together, and they are both unique Metal Giants.
Both bands are fucking awesome
Gojira and Meshuggah are easily and without question my favorite metal bands. The fact that they've collaborated together brings me immeasurable happiness...
Ahh man, I was really hoping someone combined a bunch of cool heliocentric photography to this song

Matt Stark INDEED!!! YYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS
Some of the riffs in this song sound like angry gigantic pissed off mecha-bees. Fucking astounding work.
we were already trapped inside of the grooves and we didnt notice it
definitely in my top 3 shuggah songs
This probably makes no sense but imo this song FEELS like getting sunburnt in the best way possible
2:52 The juiciest double bass I've ever heard. Damnnnn
like a fire mass approaching to Earth
Thank you, Jens Kidman 🤘
You are here 1 year after live version of this song
No, seriously...is there anything better than this song?
Some people say demiurge but I call bs on that
@@rustyshackleford9452 both great tunes, but to me 'Behind the sun' has that 110% of brain usage I cannot find in Demiurge
For me it's 'The Hurt That Finds You First'. I mean, just like this song, it's a long build up right from the beginning, until it can go beyond. But then you're left with the calmness of the melody from the guitars.
Chilled out samba track!
2:30 "Key lime pie"
Francis Brown *crying with laughter smiley*
Elivion just use: 😂 you don't have to type it out
This beginning part really hits me hard. Does anyone know any other songs that have the same effect as this?
Nebulous off of nothing is particularly brutal. Try Stifled off of the Violent Sleep of Reason as well.
The beginning of Shed hits pretty hard. Reminiscent of a sledgehammer
Holy fuck, where have I been? Why am I just now discovering this band?
Koloss is underrated. I wonder why people don't like this album, it contains the most unusual types of songs.
i wasnt so sure about that myself
its been one of my favorites ever since i discovered it
that can be said about all meshuggah albums, but koloss is just leading the charge
and honestly i cant even consider catch thrirtythree because
that and sol niger within are both something that can't be described by my feeble thought-ball
This one would have been perfect in the movie “Event Horizon”
Or Sunshine
Quite mellow, very nice.
...When the Anunnaki descended during an eclipse!
Rum tum tum tum tum, blern, ba da beo-wow
Perfection.
Jens needs to write more material from now on.
4:38 f ing love this part
That breakdown at 3:12 is a true head bobber
For some reason this reminds me of some song from the game Command & Conquer.
Afro Mystikal I sometimes have that with meshuggah too. I think that has to do with the fact that they both emulate an industrial sound through the base/guitar combo, and Frank Klepacki did that as well. Especially the red alert scores can have that feeling.
I feel like... as if I were capable of doing anything I want
Well, maybe I am. This song opened my eyes.
5:29 sends shivers down my spine! Perfect homocidal caiotic nightmare.
Lost highway... beautiful
Hail the tyrant saint, the great beaver
So vain our attempts, the useless tugging
This meaningless gnawing at restraints by which we're bound
Hail the tyrant saint, the great bereaver
You will bow before the emperor crowned
This is what you find behind the sun.
4:35 the lead guitar is like something you’d hear in a movie after the main antagonist is killed and the hero looks down on him all bad ass after saving the world..
I think I broke my neck
Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave it Motion.
The riff at 2:01 is awesome.
good picture
Brutal
2:01 Your evil inclinations bathed in liiiiiiieeeeeeeessss!
I see the Sun moving on this image. With the track in the background, that's quite disturbing...
misterpatitucci how high were you three years ago? 😂 😂
Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreal fucking high on drugs
4:37... mamma mia che prog
3:50. Holy fucking balls.
such a dope track
Waiting for that sun to explode from the sonic brutality.
There are 3 mortals that who don't know what are behind the sun
i still use this song in my head set when I'm reducing with alkaloids and sinus meds to extract the wizard of a demiurge reptilian carbon molocule
Wow!
This song increased my bench by 30lbs. 😬😮🤠😶🥴
I'm so happy to hear that people use this song/band to work out
Hail the tyrant saint, the great bereaver. Reach Heaven Through Violence.
when life is being bullshit i just turn on the Meshuggah and let it roll over me

Outstanding!
This song is most meaning about conspiration ahead. One world goverment control, one world religion control. Q nightmare.
But I liked the song. And I love Meshuggah.
Mariluz Calo-Ruiz Nemesis lies behind the suns orbit according to astrological scholar sitchin. Home of our creators annunaki. Their dying planet requires resources from ours to live again. They lead TPTB which lead the sheep masses towards their end goal which is eternal enslavement of humans on earth they will use to mine resources for their planet. Their plan is going great without any signs of resistance. Your "entertainment" (controlled by their slaves) tells you endlessly with false "happy endings", lol. The reality won't be like that at all. The god you worship is actually them which are evil (not that they require you to worship them regardless, you're insects to them).
my best guess is it about a powerful dictator that makes immoral decision to kill anyone against him, it probably called behind the sun because the sun is a big, powerful star so the dictator would hide behind something powerful to protect him, just look at the lyrics "Snap your fingers, cue demise," "Divine man," "puppeteer," "Hail the tyrant saint," "Carelessly you sentence" and "Murder on impulse," they suggest alot of things.
this is beyond the sun
