I went to a barn dance on Saturday and learned this one. It was easier to do with the music than the walkthrough practice and was great fun. It was in my top three I did.
"Wearsitwell" Thanks for posting SFO there music is just great was very sorry when i heard that John Mason OBE had passed away i last saw him early 2010 at the Music Hall Aberdeen and he looked pretty ill then But he has left a great legacy
Hi Maggie Thanks for the comments. Music for video is as follows: The Original, Rakes of Mallow, The Waves of Troy, The Stronsay Wedding, The Siege of Ennis, The Reel of Kildinguie, The Original
p.e class before every scottish holiday in my day, wish i could remember all the dances, anyone who cant remember steps in scotland , will just twirl arms with you in scotland for a bit , step back toddle on feet and look at our feet to see if we are tipping right then try twirl arm in arm with you again. its all we have left. if we link arms with you look at our feet and hop a bit before linking arms with you again. we want to be merry with you no matter where you are from and want you to be in what we have left in our dance with us
hargreaves19 It's really easy to do. it only looks complicated when you see the whole group together. :) Although I am glad we are taught all these dances from a young age at school and all the way up the years xD
f you are ceilidh-dance curious, give it a try ! It is physically impossible to feel miserable when doing these dances. VERY aerobic and (probably) top for Peripheral Insulin Clearance and Mental Health ! GO ! FOR ! IT ! ! !
Just loved the video, I wish Scottish Dancing was more popular today. I use to dance to this music when I was a wee one. My Father loved the Schottische, he couldn't sit when one was playing. BTW what is the piece called at 2:15 minutes? Maggie
COMING THIS SUMMER. AS GOOD AS IT GETS TWO Woman: Oh. Look. There is a nice old man with a dog. A falcon flies in the woman's hair. Malcolm makes a hawk sound. The falcon returns to his arm Malcolm: Dont worry. She dont bite unless you have birdseed, flac or pigoen feces in your hair. COMING THIS SUMMER AS GOOD AS IT GETS TWO
For consideration of others, men wear pants under their kilts when dancing. Rude not to. As for not wearing panties under skirts, that's entirely up to the women, what do you do?
If someone - it comes to men - is not or was not ore in the past, in terms of natural hair color - in general can not be and is not considered a Scotsman in the Kingdom of the British, the decree of Queen with the exception of Northern Ireland. The fact that the Scots do not wear panties under the kilt due to the practical tradition, namely, in the old days during the festive attire Scot had the unique opportunity to be aired in intimate places because the baths were held once a year and it's at the royal courts.
In the UK mens underwear is usually referred to as "pants" NOT Panties and usually only soldiers wear "nothing" the rest usually wear "PANTS" please try and keep up....... I'm guessing you are not British
David Felix Burton Well you guessed it :) I am writing as confident out with in a way that intentionally humorous for me the most important thing here is music, dance but if you're British?

Don't put too much in your sporran. I found out that if you have too much, the bouncing up and down is why the men yell.
hilarious! :)
baile muy alegre
several tunes are definitely Irish !
Second one is 'The Rakes of Mallow.' Third one is Irish as well, though I can't put a name on it.
Regimental march of the Royal Berkshire Regiment .
