    OMG thank you for this. I was so frustrated as I couldn't get this hooked up right to save my life. I have a ThinkPad with a ThinkPad Docking Station. So for the right screen. I had to take my power cable from my docking station and plug it in the middle slot on the right screen and plug the USB TO USB-C to the left side of my laptop to the top slot on right screen. Left screen plugs directly into my laptop. Power is in the middle slot and my screen is in the bottom slot. I was almost ready to send this back as I didn't think my stuff was compatible. Thank you so much, this was AWESOME.

    • @techfulgoodies
      @techfulgoodies  4 месяца назад +1

      I think so - in essence both monitors are stand alone monitors so if you want to use HDMI + USB-A for one of them and then hook another device up to the other monitor using USB-C, you can do so.

    • @techfulgoodies

      I think that when you plug the power into the screen that is plugged in with USB-C, the monitor thinks you want to use HDMI on that screen. The power should only be plugged into the screen that has the HDMI cord plugged into it.

Therefore, would a GiGimundo 100W 5A Charging USB 4 Cable with 40Gbps and 8K 60Hz Video Output (Amazon), work with my computer, and help display the second screen? Should I buy the GiGimundo cable? The critical part to consider is that HDMI carries a video signal and so do specific USB-C ports. You "May" be able to buy a docking station with 2 HDMI ports but those usually have to plug into a USB-C port that supports video out.

      I'm just guessing for your situation but you need the switch dock, and hook it up to the monitor via HDMI. If I don't have a USB C port, can I get a USB-A / USB-C adapter to plug into a USB-A port?

    • @tonymouannes
      @tonymouannes 18 дней назад

      USB-A doesn't support video's a limitation of the technology. Some USB-C don't support video either. It's unusual for a laptop to not have any kind of display port. You can find an adaptor from any kind of display port to HDMI or possibly USB-C. If the laptop doesn't have a way to connect an external monitor of any kind, there is nothing you can do. Those laptops aren't capable of handling a second display anyway (only some very low-end laptops have that limitation).

      You need to have a thunderbolt port OR a full featured usb-c port with video out capability. I looked at the specs and it doesn't look like that model supports usb-c video out. You may need to use the HDMI ports to run the monitors.
