There is a way to fix this but the government and law enforcement have to work together to fix it. In the old days they had road camps for people who committed small infarctions of the law. The law breakers were picked up and taken to these road camps time and again until most come out of it some still die at it but most are helped back into society. Out side of the cities they use to have like Army barracks to sleep in and get out of the weather. They were detained on small infractions even for jay walking, drug abuse, vagrancy, drunk disturbing the peace, etc and placed them into these places for any where from 4 months to a year .The inmates then were forced to grow gardens for the kitchen and raise cows and goats for their milk and chickens for food. Others who behaved their selves were allowed to get out on work furloe's to come back at night and pay a bigger portion of their wages unto the detention center to help cover the costs. Some of the people who could would be taken out in groups of 11 or so and had to clean the road sides and other meaningful chores until time served. It worked. There has always been this kind of homelessness back in the 1940's through the 1970's they were gathered up as ordinary law breakers. It worked because people get clean and start seeing a better way and the government care centers would help them to get jobs even jobs invented by the government for this cause. All worked eventually or go back to road camp no drugs allowed. The cost is not as bad or much as you would think. Right now the government officials are only looking after self if they would just implement this, things would change to the good like before.

If you had PTSD from your service, would you like to be put on a bus and taken 50 miles out of town, with no support or treatment or job or future? Would you set your fellow Marines adrift like that? I'm guessing you wouldn't. So the thing isn't to dump them in the woods until they straighten out, because they will NOT straighten out on their own. Instead the thing ito do is fund VA hospitals and treatment programs to help veterans re-integrate into society.

Drug addiction is not a disease. It is a self-inflicted would people choose to suffer.
In total agreement with your point of view.... if the world was to suddenly "lose" all of these deadbeats..... nobody would miss them for long.
I'd have thought that at some point such desperate generalizations would become embarrassing to knowingly maintain. Guess there's no upper limit to what people can confront in the mirror if the alternative is to face their own character bankruptcy and lack of empathy. I'll bet you'd raise hell though if you saw a dog in the video going hungry, right?
@@HerrinSchadenfreude Empathy? Why should I empathize with people who think getting high is the most important thing on the planet? And since 20,000 children starve to death on this planet every day, why would I care if a dog is hungry? You keep being the happy enabler for people who choose to destroy their life with drugs. I will step over them in the street and let them starve because that is what they have earned.
" Drug addiction is not a disease. It is a self-inflicted would people choose to suffer." It's induced by social despair. It's a symptom, not the cause.

@@truthadvocacy Well...I was simply making sure he (or she) understood it was not DEADLY cold like most cities north of the Mason/Dixon line. Let's use an example. The homeless are much better off in Vancouver than many southern cities! For example, it is much more desirable being homeless in Vancouver than Nashville.

How about just throwing the top few layers of the local drug pushing cartels in jail and as penance they have to go sweep those streets, do the laundry and cook for those poor souls for 8 hours a day for the rest of their miserable lives? Now that's justice.
