    A big part of why it didn’t work was their start back with the company... Because right from the get-go, you had the 3 nWo guys almost losing to Rock and Austin in a HANDICAP MATCH… You had Hall losing to Austin, even with Nash’s help…You had Hogan losing to Rock, and to make it even worse for the nWo, you had Hogan turn face and leave. Gee, I wonder why it didn’t work. It was set up for it to fail. The audience was into them, it wasn’t about them not being “over,” because they were

      IIRC HHH started to give input on the creative as early as 97. I think I heard something about Vince liking some of his ideas, so he basically did some stuff in creative without getting extra pay for it. It's almost like an internship if you think about it. You can scrutinize him being in that position in the first place, but this is the explanation I remember hearing. It might not be true though.

      @@FamousMovieScenes09 There's always some jackass in the YT comment section who wants to take everything I say and (rather than apply it to the topic at hand) try to set up a match between me and said person. So how's this? Bring it on. Challenge accepted. Prime mid 20's or even 30's me mops the floor with HHH and leaves him screaming in agony. How's that? My mobility is 10x greater than his. My stamina is 10x greater than his, and I would hit him so hard I'd knock the spray tan off him. Body builders are NOT fighters. Not even close. He would have NO chance against me at my best.

    I have a hard time believing the plan at first was Hall/Austin and Rock/Hogan. Austin's said he didn't think he and Hogan would've had a good match, but if he was game for it, there's no way Vince would pass on Austin/Hogan for WrestleMania. It doesn't get much better than the two biggest names in Wrestling on the biggest stage of them all.

    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 4 года назад +4

      No it's always been a thing in wrestling. You don't put on your biggest potential matches on all right away, because then you have nothing left. You've gotta have stuff in the bag ready to use. I think it's called "blowing the town" or something like that, where if you're almost bankrupt or something you say "fuck it" and just book a card with all the biggest matches on as a desperate last ditch attempt to save the company, but then even if it works you've got nothing left anymore, nothing exciting to build up to. It makes perfect sense they'd wanna build Hogan/Austin up for an entire year to culminate at the next wrestlemania. But they didn't see it coming that Hogan would basically immediately turn face, and didn't know Austin was in his final year

    • @bearcathampton5844

    That was spiteful writing by Meltzer. The most successful wrestlers in the United States were always, for the most part, the ones that Dave ran into the ground every week. Hogan, Cena, Nash, Hall, Michaels, HHH, Flair, etc. He has no love for people who don't call him and give him information. He has no love for people who don't work a certain style in the ring. To Dave, you've got to be someone like Dean Malenko or Eddie Guerrero to make it in this business. All of those guys are much more successful than Dave and didn't need him to get over. In fact, they got over in spite of Meltzer.

    WWE never got what the nWo was! The nWo wasn’t just a stable. The nWo was an entity built by ex-WWF guys, that wanted to take a over a company (WCW) and start their own company with their roster. Therefore it could never be just 3 guys, or even 5, or even 7. You wouldn’t be able to reign in a company with only 3 or 7 guys. That’s why the nWo had a big roster! The main angle was to have an entire roster split in two, nWo and WCW and have them wrestling each other for supremacy and for the show’s control!
    So when I hear these WWF guys like Bruce Prichard, and even Vince, talking about how the nWo shouldn’t have been the way it was etc… It really gives me the whole clue on why the nWo failed in WWE. Just like WCW didn’t know what to do with a Bret Hart, WWE didn’t have a clue on what to do with the nWo.

    I was very excited they were back. But it was hard to make the nWo make sense in New York. The concept was Hogan, Hall & Nash Ex WWF Stars going down south and declaring their better than wcw..and they were.
    In the WWF is doesn't work as much. Plus. It's HULK HOGAN in a WWF ring. No way he's not going to be cheered to death. It's freaking Hulk Hogan!

    No disrespect cause he does a good job, but 90% of their listeners probably tune in mainly because Bruce is involved. Its like if I started a podcast about football and ditka was my co-host. Again he does a good job, but he's really got the goose that lays the golden egg...edit...ha over a half hour later he makes a reference to the golden goose

    • @joeygana8864
      @joeygana8864 6 лет назад +5

      Matthew Singh-Dosanjh just Blame Russo, like just Blame Trump, I guess it was Russo’s fault WCW went under? No, it was done when he got there, if you look at the Ratings, they were up for the months he was there, and TNA was at its best when Russo was there, 04,05,06,07,08 were TNAs best years, Hogan, and RipOff killed TNA, Prick, yes I am, but Clueless, No, Not Even Close, stop listening to Libtard CORNETTE, he is still stuck into 1979,and I loved Pro Wrestling in 79, But it’s almost 2018, and CORNETTE WOULDNT have a podcast, if he didn’t use Russo, Trump, Dixie, KO, Kenny Omega, the Bucks, as his stick. Just stating Facts.

    • @MattSingh1
      @MattSingh1 6 лет назад +8

      WCW under Russo- Nitro ratings went from an average of 3.08 to a 3.10. Average attendance went from 4,628 to 3,593. Pay-per-view buyrates (the biggest source of income for the
      company) went from 0.52 to 0.26 (they dropped BY HALF).

    The chemistry didn’t work because Austin thought he was better then Hall...But it was because Hall was not promoted right by WWF & Hall is partly to blame for that...But Still Hall has never got his just due credit for being an unbelievable mind, character & performer due to his issues!! There was soo much that could have been done with the NWO angle & the WCW invasion but the WWF “Dropped the Ball” on all of it in my opinion!!
