    Man...if Vince would have let the NWO ride despite them being cheered, it would have been huge. As it was, I don’t think he could stand them outshining his current huge stars. Seriously, Hogan was over more than Stone Cold and the Rock as soon as he came back. I was shocked and Vince didn’t want him as a bad guy being so over. That was a hugely missed opportunity.

      I agree! But Hogan wanted to go back to his roots, With the Red and Yellow, and leave the N.W.O

    • @fjccommish
      @fjccommish 5 лет назад +3

      It made no sense them back to being bad guys when Hogan had returned to Red and Yellow while still in WCW, and the evil NWO was long gone in WCW.

    • @MrJjburgess11
      @MrJjburgess11 5 лет назад +1

      The thing is they couldn't let it ride even if Hogan didn't turn. Because Scott Hall got himself fired. And Nash blew his knee out and was done for over a year. So 2/3 of the team is gone. They even tried keeping NWO going with Shawn and Nash and a couple other guys. But once Nash was injured they scrapped the whole thing.

  • @deadaccount7520
    @deadaccount7520 4 года назад +7

    I see the logic from both sides. But the "invasion" wasn't going to work without some of those names. It couldn't happen 2 years down the road either. They needed to strike while the iron was hot and WCW damaged that angle themselves the last year or two they existed. The purchase reignited some interest. But ultimately the iron may have been hot enough but not for the strike that was eventually delivered. No offense to those guys who did want to work.
    When it started to become clear that it was going that direction. I would have scrapped it. Went with more of a "incursion" a year or two down the line. After fans would have stopped considering them as wcw guys. Then grow it organically. Couple of them getting together into separate groups. Not so big that fans would notice or think it anything more than a coincidence. Then bring in a big time wcw guy. Who has been organizing it. And basically united the former wcw talent before the wwe even knew it was in danger.

      It's because of Nash that wrestlers made guaranteed deals. He would advise other wrestlers and tell them how much his pay out was which led to them going to the office and wanting more money. He knew that most people won't think you should deserve less, most just want more. This mentality led to wrestlers openly discussing deals/payouts which lead to higher/guaranteed deals. He might have started a union! Vince don't want that

    So much money was left on the table in 2002. So many possibilities, so little came of it. Egos, jealousy and stupidity ruined it.
    The entire WCW buyout was just a MAJOR disappointment in the end. The key players simply could not move on from the Monday night wars, the animosity and competition continued on with the WWE guys having all the power. ans all of WCW being buried.
    It even carried over for a full decade-plus with Sting having to Job to HHH in his WM debut.

  • @victorysaber1608

    Nwo in wwf was dumb. It worked because it was an invasion. Nobody knew hall n nash were coming. Then hogan. And the peace de resistance, Eric bischoff joined them. While it made sense to do the wolf pack. It got lame easy. Too many members. Same thing when Dx, joined the ministry. And became the corporate ministry. Only had like 4 wrestlers left, think they called them union. I know the big show was one and I think mick Foley was one. Maybe shamrock too. But they did it to fast to flimsy. If they did the ecw invasion with wcw and made it another group maybe it works. Like the outcasts. The biggest reason it failed. Was every wrestler who "invaded" wwf, lost right away, even booker. Not exactly an invasion if you don't win. Your just sad rejects then. You could have done similar. Started with match interference. Bring a few, like booker, rvd, dreamer, n a few more. I know the big names had contract stuff. But shown a united front. With all of them. Not that sad Saturn, malenko, beniot, thing. Had they all been a group right away, come out and cleaned house, had booker beat the rock, or even a dq where he gets beat down. The invasion would have been much better.
