My great granddaughter's hair is SOOOO thick she looks like a caveman. Her mom does not address it and even shaved her head because she got lice in school. It is now just above her shoulders.. she gets bullied in school. I am doing this. Your method seems to make sense. Very time consuming but whatever does the job. 😊

As a thick haired woman, yes but be careful because my hair sticks up. I have beautiful long thick hair per stylists, but I've always hated how thick it is. In middle school I got layers, as well as in high school. I felt so embarassed, but was told it was better. I still look at pictures and cringe. I now do not let them do top layers, and only thin it from the bottom layers. I hope that your Great Granddaughter can learn to have confidence though! It is possible she has curly/wavy hair that being brushed makes it worse. I'm still learning, but it helps to have someone tell her she is beautiful and has beautiful thick hair. But help her based on how she wants!
Great tips, might try this my 11 yo son has really long thick hair and wants to keep it long but wants it thinning out so he can wear it down more, his ponytails about 2 inches thick!
My hair is thick, curly and coarse on the very top (like the top 6th of my head) and the bottom is thin and lanky. Because the top layer shrinks up every “easy” DIY layering tutorial (like unicorn cut) has left me with long thin ends and too short/voluminous on top. It’s almost pointless to layer since my hair wants to layer itself naturally. I think thinning shears should help me thin out the top but I’m still confused on how to not ruin my hair since I’d be cutting the very top and most obvious part on my head. lol

I wish more hairstyles would understand thinning. She cut 3 inches off my hair. It looks like a bush monster. Nothing like the picture taken right after the proper hair cut. It is to my shoulders it was down 113 of my back. So upset. If they can't do it they should not touch your hair. Geez
My daughters hair is twice as thick as the hair shown. It's beautiful, but she's so tired of it she doesn't even style it. We need to know how to do her hair. This video would not work with her hair.
