    Texturising scissors when done correctly looks amazing. My sister used to be a hairdresser and knew how to use those scissors. Not one other hairdresser has ever thinned my hair out. So i bought my own texturising scissors and 'finish' off my hair at home after a cut. The difference in how sleek my hair looks and feels is insane. To those commenting below who say never to use texturising scissors, actually you leave the top section and a tiny row of hair at the base of the neck to not have 'frizzies'. Also, I do it myself over two sittings - one on freshly washed and styled hair after getting it cut to remove excess weight and the second removal is merely to help define the 'cut'. This way you have less chance of removing too much.

      SAME HERE! I'm so jealous of people who can grow their hair long, all one length, and can cut some length off easily at home once a year to keep it fresh. 😭 My hair gets thick in the middle and I struggle to know how to go about thinning it myself without ruining my hair.

    Oh my God! I would love for you to thin out my hair! No one knows how to use thinning sheers! They always tell me to leave it alone. My old stylist used this technique on my hair and it looked beautiful. She retired. :( I've been through a lot of stylist Since then and no one knows this technique. My hair looks like crap and I were it in a bun now because I can't style it due to the thickness and heaviness of my hair. If you can recommend a stylist in the NJ area please let me know. I'm desperate for a haircut.

    Nobody understands what you have explained. I just had my haircut yesterday. I am a female I’m 65 years old. My hair on top of my head is heavy and it draws down in front of my face. I cannot stand the hair in my face. I always comb it backwards, so having a heavy hairis uncontrollable it will automatically fall backwards and drive me crazy. I paid money for this haircut, but the lady would not listen to me. I told her time and time again she would talk over me and I have the worst haircut.

    How do stylists get jobs when they don't already know this stuff and when to apply it?? I've had so many mediocre haircuts by stylists who don't understand when thinning is needed and how to do it properly. Shouldn't they teach this stuff in beauty school!? If you give someone a bad haircut you're pretty much disfiguring them.

    • @jakethompsonhair
      @jakethompsonhair  9 месяцев назад +3

      Hey @ksmp, thats a loaded question w/a loaded answer. 1st off beauty school is only the beginning to their career, you don't learn everything especially advanced weight removal. So i would recommend finding a stylist that is all about advanced education or someone who has thick hair, they will at least understand your struggle to thick hair and ways to remove weight. And yes i agree there are a lot of mediocre stylist that do not understand weight removal.

    I have too thick of hair but will look stringy when layered???

    • @jakethompsonhair
      @jakethompsonhair  2 года назад +5

      Hi Bolo for Jesus, I'd suggest taking out weight closer to the root of your scalp(not close to any part or hairline), avoid taking out weight towards the ends of your hair as that will make it look stringy. If you take out weight closer to your scalp you will maintain the structure of your cut towards the ends while lessing the overall weight of your hair.
