WoodSongs 819: The Mavericks and Whitney Rose

THE MAVERICKS merge traditional country with traditional rock & roll. The band became one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful groups of the early ’90s. Led by songwriter Raul Malo, the legendary group have released their brand new album, ‘Mono’ that is actually recorded in MONO instead of STEREO. They have started a worldwide concert tour called the Mono Mundo Tour to celebrate the release and come to WoodSongs loaded with new songs and hits. Raul Malo remains the lead singer of the band, his voice easily navigating country, rockabilly, Latino and even opera.
WHITNEY ROSE is a special guest on the show as requested by Raul Malo himself, who produced her new album ”Heartbreaker of the Year.” Whitney is a powerful Canadian artist first met the Mavericks when she was booked to open for them in Toronto, and they were suitably impressed enough to ask her to join them for their entire 2014 cross-Canada tour. WoodSongs fans are in for a powerful night of country music on this special event broadcast taping!
WoodSongs Kid: Haley and Dylan Richardson are a brother and sister duo from Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey, who specialize in traditional Irish music.
