Pat so sorry to hear of your wife's passing....I totally understand what you mean about Merle helping you heal or just grieve....so many of his songs have that element that gives you the strength to carry on. I lost my husband in March 2020, almost 25 years! God Bless Merle. Keep playing his music, God Bless you Too Pat!
Yeah country music had been on a respirator for 20 years, we at least had Hag, Willie, George, Ray Price and a few more there still keeping the traditional sound out there....but, when Hag left, there is a huge void...I just pray with his music and so much more like his music are so accessible, that someone will step up. Until then, thank you for the uploads like HIll Billy and Amazon(that's where I spend most of my free time now)! Hag's song "Are we going down hill" pains me now to listen to it.....I truly feel we have been and are especially with country music. But, his last repeat of the chorus is changed up a bit to say that it isn't and we should not go down that path! So there is hope, always hope! :)

MIchael, I am almost 60 years old and grew up listening to and dancing to Merle, but only was familiar with his commercial hits. Now that I am older and have lived life and seen heartache and loss and many ups and downs, it's his music that gives me most joy. I can now go research all of his albums and listen to them. He was such a fantastic musical genius and he left all of us a tremendous gift. Like Emmy Lou Harris said, "just take any of Hag's records and let the needle fall, that's will tell you what country music is about."
I'm so sorry I never got to see the hag! He was ONE of a kind! His music was great. His voice was amazing. He was an all around terrific performer. He always seemed to truly enjoy singing and playing guitar. And he could be funny with his band members. I listen to all of his recordings and love him more and more each time. Love ya Merle❤❤❤
Merle had everything under control , he every sound his players were to make and what moment, he is just great with anything to do with music, he was so amazing with his songs.
My favorite singer, his music goes 24_7 at my house. Love his music and his voice, style of singing, and most of it is his own life. RIP Merle. We miss you.
Ricardo, I can see how you feel that way, but I truly believe that Merle put so much into preserving country music by playing Lefty, Bob Wills, Jimmie Rodgers and so many more. I don't believe the good Lord would let those efforts fade away; I trust that there are many, many young people out there paying attention and will not let Merle's music die and they will grow to know and love his music and so many that came before Merle. He was so very gifted!
Priceless. I just started listening to Merle and becoming a familiar with his work. I'm completely floored by his talent and showmanship. I just recently watched his Austin City Limits concert on RUclips and his performance was amazing. I love Waylon and Willie, but I must admit there's just something about Merle that all the others just can't match. The way he carries himself, the ease in which his talent flows. He makes it all look so effortless.
Bud, I am so happy you found Merle....keep listening, there is a lot out there..... I grew up with his music, being a child of the 60's and 70's.....I am just now getting to songs that I have never heard...ones that weren't cut as singles and having not listened to many of his records, I am really loving all of it....The 1978 Austin City Limits is my favorite, I watch that at least once a week! My high school basketball team was at UT gym playing for the State title when Merle was in town for that show. I like to tell people that....honestly, I would have rather been at the concert...being that we lost and got 2nd place....LOL
I saw and heard the Hag in OKC in 2006 or 2007 but I’ve loved him all of my adult life and I’ll be 84 in May. God broke the mold after him. R.I.P. AMJ in Fla

I’m not really a big fan of country music , but sometimes find that Merle Haggard is the only music that is left on this Earth that I can still stomach . I just regret discovering his music too late .
The year was 1993 and it was a hot August day when my mama died. Later on when going through her meager possessions, i found a Merle compilation tape with his music from the early '80s. I was a heavy metal guy, but i knew my mom loved this Merle guy, so out of respect for her i took the tape and listened. I was blown away by the 'realness' of Merle and his music. Touched me to the core and was hooked. Surely hope to shake his hand in Heaven some day and say a simple thanks, maybe even with a tear or two. Love you Merle. Rest easy.
My momma loved Johnny Cash, so we played his music at her funeral. And posted a picture of JC on her ceiling. Her view for her last 13 months. 13 months because she did not have her transition wishes in writing.😢
He's finally with his Daddy....in a recent book about Merle, it talks about a dream Merle had .... he dreamt that he died, he was on a concrete slab and he woke up and an angel was standing over him, angel asked him, "do you know where you are", he said, "I believe I died", angel said "yes, and you are late"...then his Daddy appeared and said, "C'mon son your late we have a concert to go to." Merle asked his Daddy: "Who's playing?" Merle's Dad said "Jimmie, Left and YOU!" I totally believe that. Not sure how long before he passed when he had that dream, but I know he had it!
I met Marty , Merle's son at Houston ,Texas along time ago , probably in the 70s at a small beer joint up on north yale and Heights Blvd ,he said he had hitchhiked from Bakersfield California
Chris i totally agree with you. I am so tick of at a singer that merle haggard willie Nelson waylon Jennings open the doors to theos singers that they think there country music legends but there not from 2000 to 2021 i did not like what singers saying mean things one person that died in 2002 i talking about luke Bryan what he said about waylon merle and willie just look it up snd asked what did luke Bryan say about waylon Jennings merle haggard willie Nelson and theos 3 men open yhe doors to theos singers from 2000to 2021 i have no use of country music radio stations anymore i so happy there such as cds RUclips alexa I am a real fan of legends that came out from 1999 back to when hank Williams sr open the doors to real country music 2021

Merle had a lot of talent. I listened to him all while I was going up. Let's not forget ol' Waylon, Willie and The Boys !
Merle was the best, the very best to ever perform.❤
@@clintwalls5217 yes and George Jones and Conway Twitty and Tom t Hall and Johnny Cash and on and on. Not many of those left. Oh Willie still around. And Kris kristofferson..
Wow, after watching and Seeing my great aunt Flossie there was a blessing..
Patricia, she seemed to be a sweet sweet soul. I saw once where Marty Haggard was talking about her and his relationship with her.....he referred to her as "Jesus in a skirt".... many people in country music who knew her through Merle said she was wonderful.....you should be proud so very proud. A beautiful lady!
@@karenenderle532 , Yes I am very proud of her. My mother sure looked a lot like her and Merle.
I am a latecomer to the party. I knew of Merle for decades, only I did not know how awsome he was. Truth staight from the heart, in excellent musical form.

Beautiful Concert Thanks For The Memories I Saw Merle Several Times In Concert And Loved Each One As Much As I Did The Others Merle You Will Live On In My Heart And Memories Forever So As I Say Rest In Peace For Your Music Will Live On As Long As I Am Alive And I'm Sure As Long As Many Of Your Other Fans Live To Keep It Alive And Playing.
A sad loss to all music lovers from where ever He was great
And missed.
Merle is the best
I will never get over Merle Hard,as I type this I feel like just breaking down,I love him like I had known him all my life,he is the best ...
I know exactly how you’re feeling about the hag
I'm so sorry I never got to see the hag! He was ONE of a kind! His music was great. His voice was amazing. He was an all around terrific performer. He always seemed to truly enjoy singing and playing guitar. And he could be funny with his band members. I listen to all of his recordings and love him more and more each time. Love ya
Merle❤❤❤
Five years already ! Time passes quickly.
The greatest singer songwriter I’ve ever seen.
Best band The Strangers. Ole Hag had all of them on thier toes that night... Awesome!! Thank you for the video!
Merle had everything under control , he every sound his players were to make and what moment, he is just great with anything to do with music, he was so amazing with his songs.
Great live show -thanks,Ginger S
My favorite singer, his music goes 24_7 at my house. Love his music and his voice, style of singing, and most of it is his own life. RIP Merle. We miss you.
Tiny Moore on electric mandolin, incredible!
Country Music Died when The Lord Called Merle Home. SERIOUSLY!
He was so very gifted!
so ricardo do u still listen to country music . if u do it has not died . listen to tyler childers for a modern version of country music.
I LOVE MERLE HAGGARD JUST LIKE JERALD PORTER DID ... GOD WINS 🏆 🙌 🙏 ❤️ 👏 ♥️ 🏆 🙌 🙏
Thank you! I am 67 and in tears. Born April 6th, 1955
Haggard's playing is so fluid...so loose but clean....
UNIQUE MAN. HE HAS THE TALENT TO MAKE THAT GUITAR TALK. WORDS FLOW SMOOTHLY OUTOF HIS MOUTH.
AND THE STRANGERS ARE WONDERFUL.
He was my favorite, wish he was still around because he knew good country music. 👏👏👏👏♥️
Best of all play, in heaven my good old friend.
I love his timber, he will be the tree in my forest 🌳 for always and forever❤
Merle is the greatest country music singer & songwriter the good Lord ever strung a gut through. Lord I miss Merle.
So great. There will never be another Merle.so sad.time changes everything.
Fantastic what rhyme Merle had, and certainly knew how to pick his musicians
what a great tribute to merle and country music. real country music
Im loving this fiddle playing!! My dad played the fiddle
wow, your dad was in the strangers? cool!
I love everything this man has ever recorded & his sons are excellent also. Merle lives on in my ❤️
I guess "hurting me now don't mean a thing" is true for Hag now. We'll just have to get by with the music he left behind. Great vid. RIP Hag.
Yes he's great. Him George Jones Waylon Jennings
Love this guy
He was the real deal.
I agree with you all the way
My kids and friends say I'm 'channeling' Merle!! I just love his music and stage presence. We're to blessed to have his music!!
I saw and heard the Hag in OKC in 2006 or 2007 but I’ve loved him all of my adult life and I’ll be 84 in May. God broke the mold after him. R.I.P.
AMJ in Fla
Merle was very happy that his mother was there I'm sure she was so proud of Merle.
l agree with you, indeed Merle Haggard is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style,he's one of my favorites artist, he songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.
I’m not really a big fan of country music , but sometimes find that Merle Haggard is the only music that is left on this Earth that I can still stomach . I just regret discovering his music too late .
Ditto. I am 75 years old now and knew of Merle for years, but not how awesome he was
Merle ist realy a great musican

I knew this guy was good but he was Awesome!
Love merle haggard music I miss him 😪RIP
I clocked a TV documentary recently where Ronnie Milsap declared that Merle Haggard "saved" Country Music in the latter part of the 1960s.
🎉0😊
SEEN HAG SO MANY TIMES..SURE DO MISS THIS MAN❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢🙏
The year was 1993 and it was a hot August day when my mama died. Rest easy.
Heavy metal Smdh
My momma loved Johnny Cash, so we played his music at her funeral. And posted a picture of JC on her ceiling. Her view for her last 13 months. 13 months because she did not have her transition wishes in writing.😢
Complete victory! Got it!
I ain’t gay but I love this man and his music. Been my hero for a log time . His children Marty , Noel and Ben are awesome
there is no gender in music bro, but as you said he is your hero.
Same as You. Scott Haggard is too. BUT IT WONT BE ANOTHER MERLE HAGGARD. WIFE & Love the Haggard 5 as She Calls Them.
Glad your not gay
@@bobbysharbono9672 I Love We You
Been my hero for a log time. Classic.
5yrs and they've been hard ones. Merle is in a better place though he's greatly missed
I am so tick of at a singer that merle haggard willie Nelson waylon Jennings open the doors to theos singers that they think there country music legends but there not from 2000 to 2021 i did not like what singers saying mean things one person that died in 2002 i talking about luke Bryan what he said about waylon merle and willie just look it up snd asked what did luke Bryan say about waylon Jennings merle haggard willie Nelson and theos 3 men open yhe doors to theos singers from 2000to 2021 i have no use of country music radio stations anymore i so happy there such as cds RUclips alexa
I am a real fan of legends that came out from 1999 back to when hank Williams sr open the doors to real country music 2021
