Fatima Butt me tbh. I’ve become so in love with them as Elizabeth and Philip on the show, and am a bit sad that there will be a different cast next season.
Jules Frank I still love them in show But also in real life they love each other In the marriage there are some difficulties and more if they are a public image But they love each other anyways
You'd be surprised at how much movement and posture helps with getting the voice right. Maybe the best known example is Douglas Rain's voicing of HAL in 2001 and 2010. To get the right calm, emotionless voice, Rain sat in a comfortable chair, took his shoes off, and rested his feet on a pillow.
almostfm lol I know. I'm a theatre performer, as well as a voice actress from time to time. In theatre, I had to act as a woman from the 1920's. It was easier with the right attitude, of course, and my co-actresses and I always talk that way whenever we enter the rehearsal halls to stay in character as much as possible. Our language is pretty modernized nowadays and we tried so hard to keep talking in our old deep authentic language but by staying in character, it was easier, and it was hard to switch on and off. That's why I love Vanessa's change in attitude here, because it is subtle and beautiful, and it really is relatable but bloody hell, I will never be as good as her like that HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
I used to act as well and one time I played Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest and I'm American so every time I was around anyone in the cast we all spoke in posh English accents even just like around campus and we'd get weird looks. Even after the play was over it was just a habit. I remember we all went out after the last show and we were all sitting there in IHOP with perfect posture speaking in posh British accents at like 1 in the morning. And sometimes even now when I want to sit up straight, I just accidentally start speaking in a posh accent and people are like why the hell are you talking like that?
Юлия Элизабет Юлия Элизабет YAHH oh my god, the women of the past in my country were very conservative, deep minded fighters who want their freedom, who always have their backs straight and movements reserved... It was so different from the modern Filipino-we're crazy loud party people now who loves fun so much... and oh God, the accent God... My friends found it weird when I happen to talk to one of my co-actresses in university because I just "revert" to female Filipino warrior mode, because I'm the crazy frantic always dancing bubbly kind of person, so they were like SHOOKT whenever I go back in habit hahahahah especially when I learned deeper words in Filipino which I still now use in my daily conversation. It's quite fun to see their "Who the hell are you and what have you done to Allysa?" expressions... and then I go back to my normal self because I am with my friends hahahahahah This is one of the reasons I love acting so much hahahahah
It's amazing how much older all of them look and feel in the show - especially Claire who, in this interview, looks like a girl who just came out of college.
its what you expect to see because of who they are portraying and the way the actors have their posture. I have a family friend who I like to joke was born middle aged so I automatically add 10 years to his life because of the way they hold themselves in conversation. Its weird how the mind and eyes play tricks on each other
I do too. I remember the scene when Elizabeth broke the bad news to Margaret and they were sitting on the park bench. Margaret look was so in shock that when Elizabeth tried to hold her hand, Margaret just instinctively pulls away as if saying, "Don't touch me." And Elizabeth also quickly retract back. Masterful!
Caligula Longhbottom Both Philip and Elizabeth were related through Queen Victoria if I remember well. She was part German. Her husband was also German(from Coburg). Same for her mother. So I figure that's where the accent comes from. But I think more relatives/royals before that time were also (part) German.
TwinkeCollection(main) Victoria was born and grew up in Britain and did have slightly German-accented English. George V’s children spoke with very little or no accented English. Philip grew up in Paris and around Germany, so his English would be accented.
Claire, Matt & Vanessa carried the body language & mannerism so convincingly! Love every bit of the acting. Perfecto. The queen & Margaret roles are my fave. Just so fabulous acting. Thank you!
I first saw Vanessa Kirby's performance in Mission Impossible Fallout, and the moment that she started her delivery of speech at the hall, I was immediately impressed. I didn't think she could possibly take on a commonfolk accent in real life, but she actually does, lmao.
It actually makes so much sense now that the royal family (at least the older generation) have this weird extreme posh accent, because of the Germanic influence from their ancestors
All the cast should be congratulated on the amazing job they have done by playing the Royals. Personally Matt Smith to me is the least like Prince Philip but his charisma and charm made up for it. Claire Foy also did an exceptional job but I have to give it to the Actress who played Princess Margaret, she really brought her character to life and I honestly forget that an actress is playing the role and believe it is actually Margaret I am watching. I can imagine Princess Margaret being 100% like the way she has been portrayed in The Crown.
I hate being 'that person' but I find it a pity that the real Vanessa Kirby colours her hair light blonde. The darker colour she has in the series suits her much better.
I just binged watched the first two seasons after HRH Phillip passed. Enjoyed it immensely, and I’m usually not a fan of drama at all. Was kinda’ disappointed they changed the actors / actresses for S3.
I did a little research and apparently “the Queen’s English” is completely invented and spoken by very few. I’m American and have trouble understanding anything other than Queen’s English in tv/movies. I’ve been deceived all these years by television!!
Americans: "If it wasn't for us you'd be speaking German" Germans on the Royal Family: "Well, they do, sort of, like a German influenced English dialect"
Ellie Meli none of them will be continuing their roles after season 2 (moving on to older actors) so I imagine they all started changing their hair as soon as shooting wrapped for their next roles or their own personal preference. It’s also possible as least one of the ladies wore wigs during the show.
SammietheAverageGirl thanks for your comment. I have watched several interviews of theirs and it looks like it was their real hair rather than wigs. I am also aware that they won't be continuing with their roles in the future. It's just that I don't think these hairdos are particularly nice on them. Especially Matt's, I find the colour very dark.
Is anyone else on a Claire and Matt interview marathon...
Fatima Butt me tbh. I’ve become so in love with them as Elizabeth and Philip on the show, and am a bit sad that there will be a different cast next season.
Samee. I just cant get over the fact that theyre leaving. ITS SO SAD. They shouldve just made them look older. :p
HAHAHAHA YESS
I'm here
Olivia St. Pierre still here
They have better chemistry in real life than in the show 😂😂
LeslieU1999 no i love them in the show
Yeah I could see them dating lol
Hola Hola they’re not supposed to have good chemistry because she’s frigid and their marriage is tense
Jules Frank I still love them in show
But also in real life they love each other
In the marriage there are some difficulties and more if they are a public image
But they love each other anyways
If you were following the show at all then you would have known they were not supposed to have chemistry.
Vanessa's posture and mannerisms changing when she does the posh accent tho
You'd be surprised at how much movement and posture helps with getting the voice right. Maybe the best known example is Douglas Rain's voicing of HAL in 2001 and 2010. To get the right calm, emotionless voice, Rain sat in a comfortable chair, took his shoes off, and rested his feet on a pillow.

Allysa Dequiño
BITCH YASSSS! Haaaiii! I'm a quarter Filipino!
It's amazing how much older all of them look and feel in the show - especially Claire who, in this interview, looks like a girl who just came out of college.
Patrick Lau They use makeup to make them look a little bit older apparently.
Off screen she looks very Julie Andrews.

I have a family friend who I like to joke was born middle aged so I automatically add 10 years to his life because of the way they hold themselves in conversation. And it’s interesting because they play mid 20-somethings on the show
03:41 Vanessa's laugh snort is adorable. You play a fabulous Her Royal Princess but there's no escaping a good snort-laugh.
Masterful!
that snort!!! 😍😍
She is great. Just talked about her stardom in a vlog 🎥
Shaun where? Link!
I laugh when she snort 😅
The moment Vanessa went into her posh accent you can see the immediate change in her posture
3:30 She doesn't just use Royal British accent. She also becomes Princess Margaret
Definitely. I never thought Helena Bonham Carter got it quite as well as Vanessa Kirby.
And then that piggy laugh. hahaha ♥ love her
The accents are ENGLISH not BRITISH ( which is England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland combined to make Gt Briton )
man, the royal family whishes they looked this good
Philip was better looking than Matt Smith
Totally. The royals have never been very good looking. Generations of inbreeding would do that to you
they are all ugly
Yeah none of them are that goodlooking imo
Young queen Elizabeth II and princess Margaret were stunning though
I never ever thought about the German accent angle, but it’s true.
they grew up around their grandmother queen mary who was german wasnt she?
Actually Queen Mary was born and brought up in Britain.
The first Georgian King's in the 1700's were German and didn't even speak English.
Claire, Matt & Vanessa carried the body language & mannerism so convincingly! Love every bit of the acting. Perfecto. The queen & Margaret roles are my fave. Just so fabulous acting. Thank you!
I love the chemistry between Claire and Matt, they seem like they really admire each other
The crown isn’t the crown without Claire and Matt
True I miss them so much
Agreed!
and Vanessa
This was really interesting...i didnt realize the accent had German undertones but I totally hear it now!
god i love matt smith
Yeah, great butt.
Yeah, he's got a great butt.
Such a legend. I recently said in a vlog that he’s the standout actor in the show. Agreed? 🎥
Agree. he's so hot
Same
I keep thinking Claire and Emily Blunt should play sisters.
True!
Yes! Definitely
And Katy Perry
And Anna Friel (when younger)
And Emilia Clarke
I feel like this interviewer actually believed they got tasered.....
I love that accent! It's so elegant and... royal!
As a non-British, I can still hear them in their royal characters even in normal conversation.
Really? Their normal accent sounds less posh to me and more regular middle class British.
@2:18 Claire's adorable "eeiii" when she was imitating getting tasered 🥺🥺
2:20 CLAIRE IS SO CUTE AWWW
I first saw Vanessa Kirby's performance in Mission Impossible Fallout, and the moment that she started her delivery of speech at the hall, I was immediately impressed. I didn't think she could possibly take on a commonfolk accent in real life, but she actually does, lmao.
3:41 She snorted while laughing, Vanessa Kirby. Lol. So cute!
The interviewer didn't even need to be there for Claire and Matt 😂🤣
Whatever people say season one and two will always be my fave and I took ages to get used to the season 3 cast
the lady who plays Princess Margaret snorts when she laughs. it's so adorable lol
Matt Smith is so adorable in this interview
Emack B Matt Smith is always adorable
Claire is so cute 😍❤️
Just the best people ! Amazingly talented, funny and simply outstanding people. Thank you all !
Claire Foy and Matt Smith are amazing
Vanessa is lovely
Aww I love Matt Smith he’s even my favorite doctor
2 brill actors Clare is fantastic in the crown she was made for that roll can’t wait to see more of the lovely girl
I love Matt's voice. That's all I shall say
Matt's jewellery though. Esp those necklaces.
ikr! anyone can help what kind/type of necklace is that?
I was about to ask that. Just finished s1+2 and now binging every existing interview and Matt's wearing that piece EVERYWHERE!
i love Vanessa Kirby! hoping she lands more big roles now that her time on the shows wrapped up.
I really needed that background music to remind myself that they are interviewing the cast of a show about royals.
Matt Smith will always be the Doctor for me
2:19 and 2:42 Claire it's just soooooo funny love her so much!!!!
It actually makes so much sense now that the royal family (at least the older generation) have this weird extreme posh accent, because of the Germanic influence from their ancestors
"And now fake emotion !"
Lmao that's gracious.
To me (not brittish) matt smith's accent is so fancy that I actually thought he wouldn't have to make any effort
WHEN THE RED MIST DESCENDS (i love it so much)
All the cast should be congratulated on the amazing job they have done by playing the Royals. I hate being 'that person' but I find it a pity that the real Vanessa Kirby colours her hair light blonde. The darker colour she has in the series suits her much better.
J. Nic if I remember correctly, her real hair color is blonde.
Agree
I agreeee!!
Women want attention more than respect...
J. Nic I agree with you
Matt Smith is AMAZING!!
Claire’s accent in the show is so incredible, I couldn’t stop mentioning it to my boyfriend while we watched it 😂
You don't think it's a big change until Vanessa goes all out on it, and then you realize it's a monumental change
I love Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby...Beautiful ladies and well done!! Matt Smith, uh huh. :)
My favorite on screen couple.
Loved this series!! Second season was just as spectacular as the first. Really great work
Claire is so cute and funny😂😂😂
Aw I love Matt Smith I wish he was my husband 😘
I just binged watched the first two seasons after HRH Phillip passed. Enjoyed it immensely, and I’m usually not a fan of drama at all. Was kinda’ disappointed they changed the actors / actresses for S3.
Believe me season 3 actors are the best
“When the red mist descends” 👀
Weird!! Usually they have Americans playing British characters but Brits playing British Characters,” Mind Blown”
A lot of British have played American characters.
i’m watching this for the second time and just now realised that matt says “when the red miss descends” at the very beginning AND I’M LAUGHING
i love watching their interviews more than the crown...
“....but when the red mist descends”
Great teaching video.. if only I could hear what they're saying, ah, what a beautiful life would that be
Vanessa has the MOST beautiful eyes!
Turn off that God awful background music
I didn’t even realize they were using a completely different English accent that had a bit of a German accent to it until watching this video lol
If you listen to the older generations there's definitely a bit of german there.
they have that powerhouse sibling chemistry
Best Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip for me I love the original cast spot on performances.
Me gustaban mucho estos actores de la primera temporada,no debieron cambiarlos.
I love this cast!
"Me and him." Dead common.
SJ Cohen there was no doubting that
Oh.
He and I.... Haha but oh wells... it isn't a Cambridge exam so let's just enjoyyy
"Tom and I WILL END YOU if you correct me again." (If anyone gets this I'll give you a cookie)
OhNoHereComesAlice ! ayeee quensadilla💀
I love this series!!!
they have chemistry
I watched both seasons! I enjoyed it very much!
I did a little research and apparently “the Queen’s English” is completely invented and spoken by very few. I’m American and have trouble understanding anything other than Queen’s English in tv/movies. I’ve been deceived all these years by television!!
By 'English in TV... " do you actually mean the RP? Cuz the Queen's accent is definitely different from the standard RP.
The Kennedy's had an invented American accent too ... makes them be unique
Vanessa! Claire. u both are amazing!!!!! uggggh im inlove
I like all creators are 3 sessions.
Still waiting next part. Love you all
Matt Smith is my daddy
nathaniel jordan that is the funniest thing i read today
hehe ... mine too !
More Claire Foy and Matt Smith Series😭
Background music = Netflix’s ideas on what people want to watch
Miss them
Claire Foy
i‘d give a lot for that vanessa and the chair flip clip
I love this cast
She looks like a young Olivia Colman 😭😭, such perfect casting!
Neat interview, but click bait title. Thumbs down.
2:20 when you accidentally put your finger on a hot kettle
i am CRYING at this comment
Or my rabbit chewing a power chord
2:20 HAHAHAHAH CUTIERRR CLAIREEE
Did she just say "me and him have a big problem"??? That's not the Queen's English!
I know! Horrible.
Love Matt Smith my Doctor Who!
Omg, Claire!!!
Im here for Vanessa Kirby❤️❤️❤️
A piece of me will die when this show ends.
Princess Margaret what a stunner!!
I love Helena Bonham Carter telling Stephen Colbert that the key is don't move your upper lip while speaking
I love matt....
Oh dear, now every time I look at Claire, all I see is the Queen 🤔
Lol@ 2:19 the sound Claire Foy make sound like my rabbit when he nibble a electric cord
Matt is so into claire!!!
2:19 😂 lol Claire
Omg.. they love minstrels..
Americans: "If it wasn't for us you'd be speaking German"
Germans on the Royal Family: "Well, they do, sort of, like a German influenced English dialect"
Any Whovians here?
The ULTIMATE FANGIRL shure thing
Me
What's with both their hair colours and dos?
I like vanessa's blonde. but that hairdo, gurl
SammietheAverageGirl i wish they'd continued, I mean, there are things like makeup and CGI in the world...
Claire chopped off her hair to play Lisbeth Salander in the next film.
