@@Artificer1911 He was with Polygon, did a vid called Waluigi, Unraveled where he broke down the character. He's also damn hilarious, his work on Polygon and his personal channel are a great rabbit hole to go down 😆
One things for sure, Danny DeVito HAS to play Wario. A good pair for their age would be Willem Dafoe as Waluigi. You get those two in there *chef's kiss*.
After making a whole video for Polygon that was *chef's kiss*, I think BDG (Brian David Gilbert) should at least be in the running for Waluigi. "Waluigi, Unraveled" was a masterpiece.
I actually like the idea of Chris Pratt playing somebody who somehow switches with the actual Mario. He’s your typical schlubby dude, doesn’t commit to anything and kind of coasts through life. Becoming Mario he has to learn to give a sh*t (namely saving the mushroom kingdom). Meanwhile Chris Martinet voices Chris Pratt’s character in the real world, he’s jumping around, collecting coins and generally being Mario but because Mario is joy personified, this starts opening doors for Chris Pratt in the real world.
If Free Guy could have cameos from Jacksepticeye and Ninja, surely the Mario team could rope in the Oxboxtra crew (doing four very different voices for Ninji)?
I was literally thinking to myself someone for Bowsette would be sick to have a Drag queen play them. LITERALLY A MINUTE LATER! Luke: "What about, Brilliant Drag Queen Joe Black?" SAY NO MORE CASTING DONE DUSTED GET TO EDIT LET'S GO! Honestly a Drag queen would be the literal perfect Idea for Bowsette.
How about Joe pesci as piranha plant? "I'm a funny guy? I amuse you in some way? What's funny about me? You mean the way I talk? You think I'm a clown, that I'm here to amuse you?"
Following the same reasoning as for Christopher Judge, I'm backing Patrick Stewart as piranha plant, also while I think the current Toad casting is a really strong pick, I want Anthony Stewart Head as another Toad, Mark Hamill for Kamek, and I'm struggling for Bullet Bill, but my gut is saying Tina Fey could bring something of value to the part.
Funnily I had Patrick Stewart pencilled in for Yoshi. Similar to Ellen's Chain Chomp pitch, everyone thinks Yoshi is just making Yoshi noises all film until the climax when all hope seems lost and a green dinosaur bursts through a wall and in his most Patrick Stewart-y voice says "I believe I can be of service". He gets like 3 lines of actual spoken dialogue, but the absolute wackiness of the casting sticks with people. Yoshi gets his own spinoff.
JOE 👏🏻 BLACK 👏🏻 There has never been a more perfect casting choice. And I love the crossover of some of my favorite content creators in two of my favorite areas- drag and video games, being fans of each other! These things make my heart happy ☺️❤️

I think Waluigi/Wario is realistically gonna be voiced by Charles Martinet, why get the iconic voice actor involved if he's not gonna voice at least one of the 5 iconic characters he's known for voicing? (Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, and Paarthurnax from Skyrim, although we can probably safely cross that last one off from appearing in the movie)
I always preferred Mario to be voiced by Capt. Lou Albano (I know, he's dead...) because Mario even though he meant to be Italian, Mario's from Brooklyn so needs the accent.
We all have that gut feeling that Waluigi and Wario are going to be Adam Sandler and Kevin James... it's not a GOOD gut feeling, but admit it. It's there
Wait....has Wario been announced? Because in my mind Wario and Waluigi are a duo acct, you can't just throw two actors together they have to be a unit.
My casting: Waluigi: Pete Davidson Yoshi: Kate McKinnon Chain Chomp: Will Ferrell Pieanha Plant: Melissa McCarthy Bowsette: Kristen Joy Schaal (she is in everything, of course I have too include her) Birdo: Eddie Murphy Warrio: Dany DeVito Kamec: Whoopi Goldberg Goomba: Jonah Hill
The true Hollywood producer mentality is bankrupting the production to get Doug the pug in the door when literally any pug/bag of wet gravel could’ve provided the same performance
9:34 lol Ellen’s face says so much right there I would pay $ to see piranha plant refer to Mario as “Boy”……maybe something along the lines “This is no….Game…Boy.”
As a Drag Race fan, I am completely gobsmacked that Joe Black is mentioned here AND is a fan of the channel! I know you’ve been referencing Drag Race in some of your videos and this just confirms that OXbox and OXtra are indeed aware of Drag Race ❤
Waluigi: John Leguizamo Yoshi: Andy Serkis Chain Chomp: Dave Bautista Pirahna Plant: Tiffany Haddish Bowsette: Undecided, out of Luke and Ellen's choices, but when Ellen started to describe a cute but chaotic actor for Bowsette, before Ellen said anything my mind instantly went to Jenny Slate from Parks and Rec, who funnily enough also voiced Harley Quinn in The Lego Batman Movie!
If Chain Chomp is going to be making the feral noises for most of the movie and then only reveal his voice at the end, you could have both Dave Bautista and Doug the Pug!
I like to believe this whole idea was pitched by Luke based only on the fact that he had a dream of Doug the Pug dressed up in a Chain Chomp costume and had to find a way to get that into Show of the Weekend
All I know is I want Dee Bradley Baker as chain chomp as this is the man who has voiced Appa in Avatar the last air bender and hundreds of other amazing roles
Real talk: Someone probably bought that Yoshi puppet in a lot at a warehouse auction.....along with 2 corsets from Moulin Rouge and an Eyes Wide Shut mask.
Waluigi: WWE wrestler Seth Rollins - Yoshi: agree with Ellen, Andy Serkis - Chain Chomp: Will Arnett - Pirhana Plant: John Goodman - Bowsette: Sarah Chalke - Bonus round: Wario: Jon Favreau - Diddy Kong: if you're gonna have Seth Rogen, it's got to be Jonah Hill, right?
Personally, I'd see Margot Robbie playing more of a Daisy than Bowsette. She's a massive tomboy, happy enough dropping her dresses for more practical attire and getting down and dirty, more suitably fits what we've seen of her before. Meanwhile Bowsette (Assuming we aren't making "18+" movies here anyway), considered her an older lady, well off. A connoisseur of finer living, the kind of person who can fit connoisseur into a sentence. I think she can still pull it off, Maggie Smith.
If they weren't cowards, Illumination would have cast Jack Black in every role
I would so fucking watch that
After hearing Luke's impersonation of Andy Serkis playing Yoshi, I want Luke to play Yoshi
He deserves it after being passed over to play Detective Pikachu.
What if Luke plays Andy serkis
If you wanted to get meta for Bowsette, you could cast Madison Iseman, who played the teenage girl who wound up in Jack Black's body in Jumanji
That’d be a great connection actually.
That is kinda brilliant.
That was my exact thought. I'm surprised neither one of them suggested her.
That's brilliant! 👏
Or Wendy O'Koopa
I'm with Ellen, Chris Pratt is the personification of "just some dude"...
He's a dude playing _some other dude_ he's a _professional_ people.
Ok but who is going to voice Ninji, the true lead of the movie?
Poor Ninji, perpetually disappointing his family...
David hasilhoff
SungWon Cho
Genuinely my first thought when I saw this.
@@randyotte9599 NINJIIIIIIIIIIII
I can't believe you missed the most obvious casting for Yoshi with a proven track record and a brilliantly recognisable game-esque voice:
Ellen Rose
First I'm wearing Luke's exact outfit, despite being a woman in the southern hemisphere, then a dog wears the shirt better than both of us. Rough day.
A dog!
That is Doug the Pug, that dog has more followers than Batista 🤣
Also that dog wears that short better than anyone tbf
...you mean “ruff” day.
Brian David Gilbert is the only viable Waluigi casting. Wah.
Was just about to comment the exact same thing XD
Yes
I did a quick google to try and find out who that is. It did not help.
@@Artificer1911 He was with Polygon, did a vid called Waluigi, Unraveled where he broke down the character. He's also damn hilarious, his work on Polygon and his personal channel are a great rabbit hole to go down 😆

Omg that would be brilliant!!
▪︎YES▪︎
"The super crown, or whatever item it is..." Oh Luke, let's not pretend you aren't intimately familiar with Bowsette lore
I was not anticipating a "Who wore it better? Luke Westaway or Doug the Pug?" segment today
One things for sure, Danny DeVito HAS to play Wario. A good pair for their age would be Willem Dafoe as Waluigi. You get those two in there *chef's kiss*.
At that point, this movie would just be a set up for a Wario/Waluigi spinoff movie.
Couldn't possibly agree more.
I am dissapointed that when Luke said the best line from Kratos, that we didnt get to hear Piranha plant yell "BOY!" (._. )
Same.
*BOY*
After making a whole video for Polygon that was *chef's kiss*, I think BDG (Brian David Gilbert) should at least be in the running for Waluigi. "Waluigi, Unraveled" was a masterpiece.

I mean, Chris Pratt did commit to one thing, homophobia.
BDG deserves to be allowed to play Waluigi.
Also, John Oliver as Toadsworth.
Matt Berry as Bowser Jr. :"Faaatheeeeerrrrr...!"
But who, who would voice popular character Ninji? That’s the real question
Gotta go with either Andy Serkis again or SungWon Cho
Stephen Hibbert. He did a good job in Pulp Fiction after all.
If Free Guy could have cameos from Jacksepticeye and Ninja, surely the Mario team could rope in the Oxboxtra crew (doing four very different voices for Ninji)?

How about Joe pesci as piranha plant?
"I'm a funny guy? I amuse you in some way? What's funny about me? You mean the way I talk? You think I'm a clown, that I'm here to amuse you?"
Luke's impression of Andy Serkis as Yoshi was so incredible that I choked on my tea.
Luke, who has only seen "Mitchells Vs The Machines": Hey, you know who would be great for this role?
i'm fully on board with Ellen's theory, makes as much sense as Link is Doomguy and look at how we all agreed to that
Yes... we *agreed* with our hands up, nodding and slowly, carefully backing out of the room.
Let's not forget that Rachel Bloom voiced Peach in the Starbomb song "Luigi's Ballad," so she had experience with the source material, as well!
i feel waluigi's appearance in the film would be an after credits stinger with him bursting out of a pod, nude and screaming
A blurred out mushroom covering his shame.
Just like that scene of Danny DeVito coming out of a couch naked
The movie will be entirely about Bowsette, but it's Scarlett Johansson on the mic.
Rosalina is voiced by Lauren Mayberry (Chvrches singer).
I was thinking Vin Diesel for Bullet Bill, giving a parody Fast and the Furious speech before firing.
Funnily I had Patrick Stewart pencilled in for Yoshi. He gets like 3 lines of actual spoken dialogue, but the absolute wackiness of the casting sticks with people. Yoshi gets his own spinoff.
As a bonus, Andy Serkis is used to being dropped in lava in order to advance the plot :D
Christopher Judge also has some pretty good deadpan comedy timing, as seen through his role in Stargate SG-1 as T'ealc.
Indeed
Ah the stargate corner of RUclips... yes I am safe here! XD
Come for the witty jokes and lovely chemistry, stay for Luke's mid-show breakdown when he realises a dog is more successful than him.
I think Waluigi should be played by the real life Waluigi, Nicholas Cage.
Fair. That could potentially be pretty good. I’d also nominate Jim Carrey, though I kind of think he’d run with it a bit too much.
This. This is perfect.
But it would be 10x better if he could play a live-action Waluigi
@@Storyman09 He's Dr Eggman though, we can't let the streams cross!

Ellen's transition from Gollum to Yoshi was pure art
I think we can all agree on Vin Diesel as Birdo.
Waluigi: Jim Carrey
Yoshi: Nancy Cartwright
Chain Chomp: John DiMaggio
Pirahna Plant: Keanu Reeves
Bowsette: Ashly Burch
Rosalina: Issa Rae
Christopher Judge... aka Teal'c of Stargate fame was Kratos?! Man, I'm a terrible fan... Great show as ever, my adorable Brits!!
It was a recent switch, starring from God Of War 2018. Up from the beginning to God Of War Ascension, Kratos was voiced by Terrence C. Carson.
I think Waluigi/Wario is realistically gonna be voiced by Charles Martinet, why get the iconic voice actor involved if he's not gonna voice at least one of the 5 iconic characters he's known for voicing? I'm not gonna pretend it is my idea, but when I saw this ic on twitter that showed "The Rock as Rosalina", it was the best image I've seen in a month
John DiMaggio as Wario. That's my hope, my dream, my everything.
John DiMaggio is a great choice!
I don't know many of those names, and yet I was entertained, lol
I am with Luke on H. Jon Benjamin but only if it's H. Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer as Chainchomp
I could only see Tessa Thompson as Bowsette. She can really pull of that whole sassy but also might beat you up vibe
Well it's not been 10 minutes and I'm already dying over the gollum impressions talking about Yoshi. Just normal adults here still
We all know the best voice actor in OX is Andy. All hail senu
I'M A BIRD!
LOOK OUT BAYEK!😂
When you started talking about Bowsette having a Broadway number, my mind immediately leapt to Kristin Chenoweth.
Me:Ellen is gonna say "queen peach"
Ellen: your peach is in another rook.
Honestly, the both of you would make a great collective Yoshi!
When you have to mention Christopher judge is Kratos, I guess Luke never watched Stargate
Wait....has Wario been announced?
Because in my mind Wario and Waluigi are a duo acct, you can't just throw two actors together they have to be a unit.
I don't think Chris pratt and Charlie day are in anyway a duo act, soo no chance for wario and waluigi😅😅
To be fair, Waluigi has never appeared in any mainline Mario game. Waluigi was born as a duo partner for Mario Tennis since Wario didn't have one.
Andy Serkis as Yoshi.. lol
I’m 100% here for this The Mitchells Vs The Machines content, and I cannot be more behind this Doug The Pug casting choice!
What about Wario? My pick: Matthew Lillard. He's the voice of Shaggy, but pitch it down an octive. Easy for a voice actor of his caliber.
Ultra Instinct Wario
Chris Judge may be Kratos, but no one seems to remember he was another killer of gods: Teal’c from Stargate SG-1.
Indeed.
Waluigi: Bryan Cranston
Yoshi: Alan Tudyk
Chain Chomp: Idris Elba
Piranha Plant: Zendaya
Bowsette: Claudia Lee Black
Bryan Cranston as waluigi

Lol nice picks
This show is the best thing, probably ever

How did I not know about Doug the Pug?
Thanks Oxtra now the rest of my weekend is going to be spend looking at cute dog photos.😀
Great, thanks, Luke, now I'm seeing Yoshi with spider limbs.
Jack Black has a intangible quality that links him to Bowser
