These are the best set of guides on Titan weapons I've ever seen, the level of depth you go into each weapon and their mods it remarkable. Keep up the good work!
I think your choice of rapid/extended mag depends on how you plan to use it. If you're going to keep your distance go with extended mags. If you are going to be up close and personal, choose rapid fire. I use a stryder with rapid fire, rocket salvo, vortex, dash charger, core accelerator. The general strategy is to flank titans, catch them off guard, get right next to them (preferably behind them) then unload the salvo and quad rockets. By the time they turn to face you, they have most likely lost all their shields and a bar of health.
Nice to see someone with good knowledge on the game make guides like these. I would suggest throwing some visual aids when talking about stats on a weapon, especially when you're comparing two items. Other than that, I look forward to more videos!
4 Splash hits with normal Quad = 16 rockets to drop shields, its essentially the same splash damage, since we can't really assume it didn't take the same 15 rockets when firing 4 at a time, vs 1 at a time.
Rapid Fire rockets deal significantly more damage per rocket than the extended magazine version, though. You would expect the splash damage to be increased along with the overall damage, but that is not the case. So the debate remains whether you want to have your aim trained on your enemy for 15 instances to break a shield, or for 4 instances to break a shield. This is not to mention the difference in damage that penetrates the shield during this time as well.
FrothyOmen i love your titanfall knowledge. I play titanfall alot..lol. and wondering if u could add me so you can show me some cool stuff . Im a gen 10. My tag is DMF VENDETTA
FrothyOmen But you forget that you wouldn't have your aim trained on your enemy for it to take 15 instances (that are much faster than non-rapid fire), It only takes 15 rockets if you miss every single one and are relying on splash damage to make up for that amazingly bad aim. I like to think of the rapid fire quad rocket as a sort of mach trigger, semi-auto, rocket salvo. Rapid fire makes the quad rocket the 4th fastest firing titan weapon (chaingun w/ accelerator, regular chaingun, 40mm w/ burst fire). I like rapid fire because I can zoom and not get shitty slow circle rockets.
At around 2:30, you compare the damage from a quad rocket volley to a single rocket, and you say that it takes 12-18 singles to break a titans shields, and it "only" 3-4 volleys to do the same. But that's essentially the same number. 12-18 or 12-16 is pretty much what you said. Also, you said that if you missed with the singles, you quickly lost out to the volleys; but the reverse is true! Missing a single volley puts you well behind the damage curve, since you just missed 4 rockets instead of 1-2.
Rapid fire is great, if you can get in real close, hit them with your shoulder rockets, and then empty the mag into them. Works well for me. Also, the rockets seem to move faster, and taking out pilots and minions is much easier. Good video!
I notice a big difference after using rapid fire for a while then switching back to extended. It seems I get more kills with the extended, the splash damage is a huge factor.
Rapidfire, in my experience on the receiving end, also seems to have the ability to mess up your opponent’s aim more consistently. Like a constant flow of interruption instead of bursts. I really want to use Quad Rockets now that I’m Gen 10 Lvl 50 to shake up the 40mm meta. The Arc Cannon is a favorite of mine, too.
I too am a fan of Stock compared to rapid fire (can we call them quads w/RF?) but I can't deny the disruptive effects that rapid fire brings. It's prolly my most hated Titan primary to go up against. Side note: have you gotten a gooser with quads yet?
DrunkenJedi Rarely. www.twitch.tv/frothyomen go ahead and follow me on there so you can see whenever I go live and watch if you are so inclined. I have no schedule and my internet is only good enough to support 1500kbit 480p while still having a playable ping in-game. i usually will be listening to trap and/or talking with some friends in teamspeak. I'm lucky to ever have more than 1 viewer here or there, though.
FrothyOmen I got a quad gooser the other day and yelled like a little girl in a life-sized polly pocket set. Using extended mags of course. Glad to know you stream!
As a mostly attrition and domination player I think the rapid fire has more utility in a number of situations. Yes its hard to get every missile on target but I tend to miss titans and airborne pilots just as much with extended mags. With rapid fire there's a barrage of missiles that I have control over so I can continuously readjust my aim. The extended mags have a bit of a delay to them that an opponent can anticipate and dodge. I noticed nobody seems to defend the slow spread alt fire... Against Titans I THINK there's a fair amount of fire, smoke, and screen shaking when hit by rapid fire to disorient opponents over the regular fire mode. Also in my experience rapid fire splash damage is pretty decent against pilots. Not as good as the extended mags but as I said its a continuous stream that I personally find easier to aim.
I use rapid fire with an atlas, Cluster Missile, electric smoke, tactical reactor and core accelerator on attrition I find that I can win 2v1 or even 3v1 I'm often getting 7+ titan kills a game
Rapid fire has really really bad HITBOX, thats all.. Even 40mm is bigger. Yes its hard to kill Pilots too. But if you are on a Stryder, definetly use Rapid Fire. You'll thank me later. (and to break the shield i suggest using comp.ordinance)
If you need to rely on splash damage to get kills you should learn to aim better. I destroy titans in LTS with my stryder with auto quad rockets and rocket savlo. The only thing quad rockets are good for are pooping on infantry. That thing kills pilots like no tomorrow.
Don't stop making these videos. some of the best for Titanfall!

Glad you re-visited it! Nice, unbiased evaluation.

Very informative! Keep making videos like the guy said! It's a big help! Thank you!
actually i think Rapid Fire is more forgiving, if you miss with rapid fire you miss 1 rocket, if you miss with non-rapid fire you miss 4 rockets.
That flag carrier kill at the end was just savage.
Looks like I need to rethink my Quad Rocket loadout.

Some good info there Frothy...your the go to Titanfall guy!

Watched three times, such a great video.
It feels to me like one of the regular quad's features that you left out is the alternate firing mods. I don't like it, but someone might.

And no, no quad gooser yet. Will definitely be saving a clip like that whenever it happens lol

Got a clip of it by any chance?

great guides

im a quad fann thx for the tip
I use rocket salvo to take down the shield then shoot the quad rocket to kill the titan
if running the game at 60fps, 3 seconds, 27 frames would be closer to 3.5 seconds, not 3.9.
The math was based on 30frames = 1second, which is what sony vegas's default is. That's how I tested and that was my basis of measurement
Just pump those rockets at the subject. And use the slaved rockets when reload.
I use both on the last Titan standing
Rapid fire has really really bad HITBOX, thats all..

Yes its hard to kill Pilots too.
But if you are on a Stryder, definetly use Rapid Fire. You'll thank me later.

Ok 2020 and I still play tf1
If u have good aim. Then rapid fire is awesome
If you need to rely on splash damage to get kills you should learn to aim better.

I still prefer rapid fire lol
Same if you want there a really good loud out that's really good with it if want use the the stryder with rocket salvo and rapped fire it's really op
The Rhino GOD I prefer cluster missiles personally but yeah that sounds good
To use any quad rocket effectively just get in close and let er rip
