Did you not check the USFS who lists all the road closures by region? The website literally lists every single closure. A lot close Oct 30 - it truly isn't "unpredictable" at all. 😆
I’ve found the website to not be up todate many times and this was prior to learning that rather than managing the public lands the nfs would rather just close
Just subscribed, videos are great. I’m planning to do the Traverse soon. I’ve read about black bears in N GA and all the precautions required. Seems like you don’t have any issues eating and camping in same place. You’re inside the truck, but often your friends are in tents. Any issues with tent camping and food assuming normal precautions?
I’ve thought about doing this. Looks like so much fun. I have an 03 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition. It’s got 4 high and 4 low. Used to drive on the beach in NY all the time with it. Other than falken wild peak A/T tires, led light bar and rust from the northern winters it’s fully stock. Would it make this trek? Thought about doing a section to start. I have some recovery gear from the beach trips. Worried about river crossings. Also, I’d air down to 15psi on the sand. How do you know when to air down over landing? Is there a go to psi that works to stop punctures over landing? As for the closed roads you guys came across. Is there anyway to know ahead of time what sections are closed? Thanks for the video
You could make it. I air down when I think about it with terrain like this mainly for comfort. I don’t know if a reliable way to find closed road unfortunately
I agree, finding campsites can be frustrating sometimes. I made a google map tagging every spot I could think of so I wouldn't get stuck without a place to setup. Too bad wildcat creek road was closed, they have some great free spots.
First time seeing this... fantastic content! I’ll be running the Georgia Traverse this summer with some buddies in my 2020 Subaru Outback Onyx XT, and I’m super stoked to see what it brings! Definitely gained a subscriber!
Na. When I go out west I make a rule of stopping when paying has stations at a quarter tank or below. I've carried fuel once and it was more trouble than anything
Hey I’m a complete newb at off Roading but I just moved to Georgia and really want to get started, what trails out here are good for a day trip? I’m driving an 02 explorer with some A/Ts with 4x4.
the fifth gen 4runner is probably technologically the best but the headlights and grill and bumper make it resemble a star wars imperial storm trooper (especially the white ones)
I'm not sure exactly, we're just kinda stumbled across it. I wanna say it's around 30-40mi along the GA Traverse. There are a bunch all through the area, especially if rds are open
That last line about moving water cracked me up! 😂

Have a 5gen but man I want a 4gen v8 now
Can you go either direction?
As far as I know
For the record, the ocean doesn’t freeze because of the salt content. 😂 Moving water definitely freezes, think about ice climbing frozen waterfalls.
Lol!!! Oh
Do the 4th Gen 4runner guys have a build page on one of the forums?
Ot that Im aware of. For the most part mostly bolt on stuff. Dobison rear drawers etc
Man that trail looks like so much fun!

Normal precautions also it was pretty cold so they may have been in hibernation 🤷🏽♂️ glad you enjoy the vids!!
Realest overlanding channel on youtube
Thanks, glad you think so.

Great idea
Where was that campsite you ended up finding?
Just a random one along the way
I really like those Gazelle Tents.. I think I will invest in one as a backup Tent for those trips where the RTT isnt needed.
I had looked too and they are sweet but they my concern is how handle wind. Though I don't have any experience with them they do seem easy
I am reading some reports about the Gazelle's that the mesh is so fine it restricts cross ventilation...people say they get very warm.

Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Toxaway lmao
cool
Those 4th Gen guys had some nice bumpers and sliders
Yeah they did for sure
Could you provide info on the fire pit please
Yeah here is the one we used which is unique because it has a stainless mesh bottom that allows for better air. amzn.to/2WFca46
Sir William Goes thank you. That’s a cool pit but I’m not sure about a $120.00 pit
@@XVanman yeah some folks really like can't fires!!
you do carry extra fuel? or do you plan the trips around stopping at certain points along the way to refuel before continuing on?
Na. When I go out west I make a rule of stopping when paying has stations at a quarter tank or below. I've carried fuel once and it was more trouble than anything
If the road is closed, you can still drive down it correct?
🤦♂️ many think so!
I think the issue you are having is the time of year. I ran part of it in spring and it was all open. Even camped at the wildcat campground
Yeah probably. I've also been told that when it get real wet they close it down too so the roads don't get to messed up
I gotta get out on the trail with you this year sometime. 4 4Runners, a Skottle, and no RTT's? Not Overlanding.. LOL 😂✌
Haha. Yeah man. Next trip is full run of Hurricane Creek one weekend soon
Keep me posted please

Just depends on where you are. Take a look in the Facebook groups USAonDirt and North Georgia Overlanders for some good info
Sir William Goes thanks I’m joining the groups now!

That is a great camping spot! Any idea the coordinates or exactly where it is?

Actually I was wrong, I was just working on Day 2 and we had traveled 87 miles when we came to this site
