    I’m glad to see you’re doing more videos. I have always followed you. You have some of the most accurate guns I have ever seen. Check out some of my videos. My father was a gunsmith he taught me everything. I learned every bit of how to read the rifling in a barrel. I take these Chinese guns and I get under a half inch group at 100 yards. Do you ever wanna barrel done you just message me and you got it. You get your barrel back and shoot it you are not gonna believe how much more accurate it is. Your HM air 17 Cal would be the barrel to do. I’m extremely familiar with green mountain barrels. The Barrel will be more accurate than a TJ when I get done with it. I like watching your videos because you truly enjoy the sport and you have a really good knowledge. Most people don’t understand that a gun needs to be vetted they don’t understand how much these guns actually move in the stock and how much accuracy that robs. And there’s so much more to all of this than that. I was lucky enough to be taught by a master gunsmith are used to sit there for hours and watch my father. And he had some tricks that made his guns shoot better than anybody else’s.Awesome videos looking to see more on that vixen. If you can’t get that sub on my way at 100 yards I can do that barrel for you and we can get you there.

    Awesome groups. I never considered off the shelf .177 Cal viable for hunting, then again I never had anything like the AGN Vixen. All of your custom .17s created massive energy and had the advantage of using powder burner barrels for superior accuracy. I am looking forward to your next episode on the Vixen. Hopefully get some Jacks along with the ground squirrels. Thanks.

    Thanks!

    Just picked up a used Vixen long 177 off the AGN classifieds. They had removed the factory shroud and added a carbon sleeve over the barrel. Its super accurate with the 8.4 JSB at 925fps. Took a ground squirrel at 50yrds, head shot with the 8.4 and put him right down. What reg pressure did you set yours at to shoot slugs well? I also have a RTI Priest 2 and a new Impact M3 also in 177. I've been doing slug testing with both of those guns and they do really well but haven't ran any through the Vixen yet. Not sure what it is about the little 177 cals but I think I enjoy shooting with them the most out of all my other caliber guns! From Ed in Tucson AZ, be safe and waiting for the next Vixen! :)

    It likes the jsb pellets.
    But hunting pellets, hollow point or other brands like H&N is a different story they are all over the target.
    A bit disappointing but It is what it is at least it loves the jsb

    • @Tofazfou
      @Tofazfou  2 года назад +2

      So, many factors here could be the culprit. H&N makes various head sizes like 4.5 and 4.51 and 4.52. A lot of times, thats the trick, getting the right head size. Speed is another factor.

    • @Tofazfou
      @Tofazfou  2 года назад +1

      Its not hard, You just have to do things in little increments. Like turning the reg a 16th or 1/8th of a turn at a time and regas up the guns bottle to check speeds and repeat the process. DEGAS the gun, unscrew the bottle and the reg is right there. Make a PERMANENT INK mark at 12 o clock on the hex grub screw and turn it clockwise just a tad and rescrew on bottle and refill. Repeat as necessary. There was no way for me or you to test the reg pressure without adjusting it and refilling up the bottle to check speeds. At least i don't know of a way for that particular gun. Once i got to my desired speed with said slugs, that was it. Just so happens, i tuned it to another guns exact speeds and it worked

  • @edwardenglish6919
    @edwardenglish6919 2 года назад +1

    Was it just adjusting the hammer spring to increase the power?

    • @Tofazfou
      @Tofazfou  2 года назад

      No. So with regs, once you bump up the reg pressure, you might also need to bump up the hammer spring tension. I bumped up the reg pressure as its set at 110 bar from the factory and the gun only makes 17+- FPE! I also found a spring in my collection that is made of better materials than the OEM spring and its just a little bit stronger

      I want you to do me one really big favor shooter group on film with your 17 Cal Air force and then watch my video on barrels polishing the last one I did there’s a picture of rifling drawn out for the thumbnail i’m going to shoot the second part tomorrow and explain in depth more of how to feel the inconsistencies in your barrel. And believe me and him consistency near the bridge definitely affects you down at the muzzle. And very important taper the rifling like a shot at the breach end . My father built guns for people all over the world and his services weren’t cheap but he was a top dog. All the stuff I shell is the stuff he showed me. It was an art watching him your truly know and understand how much of an art all of it is. But let’s get back to these groups. After you do the barrel the way I show . Shoot a group and you’re not gonna believe how much Better it is you will usually get a group half the size or 2/3 less. And once you do it. Post what you did how are you did it and show the groups. It’s about passing it on.

    Pellet onpellet shooting 10.35 jsb heavies with a second hand mtc 10.30 prismatic ill put the gun away 4 days later its shooting 3 inches left, have you ever heard of anything like this , i even put a mtc viper connect scope on didnt solve the problem any input mate would be grestly appreciated, you wouldnt think you would need to do this on a 2000 pound gun, regards big man Daz you know more about rifles than anyone i know so thats why ive asked you bro regards from england👍

    • @Tofazfou
      @Tofazfou  2 года назад

      I have NEVER heard of firing 10 dry shots to cure a POI/POA shifting problem😲. Now, 1st, I say try it because, well, you never know. The scope is def not your issue. It could be a few things. #1, make sure all screws on the entire gun are tight. And I'm not talking about tight enough to where you're about to strip or break the screw. #2, do you notice any kind of pressure loss after you store the gun for a few days? And to add to that, if the reg itself is creeping? #3, make sure you're not getting blow by on the bolt probe due to a cracked or frayed oring. That definitely can cause point of impact shifts and loss of power. #4, check that when you pull the gun out and fill it back up that the bottle is not pressing against the stock. Too close of a tolerance between the Woodstock and bottle can cause point of impact shifts in certain guns because when the bottle is being filled it can push against the stock. To me it seems like either something is loose or something is being pushed against to cause your gun to consistently shoot OFF to one side

      haha, i got joe in my back pocket. He's lightweight! My 14 year old hits harder than him and weighs more too....lol! Now, as far as those IG's go, ok, so, they are tough if you hit them in a less than PERFECT spot. HEART or BRAIN! Besides that, me and Joe both knocked them out of trees and off the tops of hills with one shot from our .177's running 24+ FPE. This was a huge topic with our group and I just said, "let me hit em in the brain with a JSB KO travelling 905 fps and we will see how tough they are". And of course, I was right. But, if you hit them like in the rear lungs are even further back, they don't even jump, they just run off to never be seen again. Hopefully in me saying all that, you get were im coming from😉 All animals are tough when your shot placement sucks, plain and simple! No need for .22 or .25 or .30 or .357, its a MENTAL preference.

During mating season, I seen videos of average power .177 PCP's with 10.34grain domes hit some of the big IG and the Iguanas just ran away. Maybe not perfect shot but good head and neck shots. With the heavy HP slugs and 10 more FPE with your shooting skills and accuracy Your getting the same FPE as the middle road .22 caliber..

    • @Tofazfou
      @Tofazfou  2 года назад +1

      @@gmanneod8085 Yep, my BROD makes 24.7 FPE using the JSB KO's at 910 fps and she is just as accurate as the vixen with the same slugs. The Green Iguana in this video was my very first and it was one headshot with KO's in .177. Just laid there on the dock and flinched a little. This was my very first IG hunt so i studied the kill zones on them then built my BROD to be accurate enough to smack em right in that zone. The KO's are very soft lead and they have a pretty good HP opening for its caliber. I also pop ground squirrels with them in the heart and its just FREEZE UP and KILL OVER! I also keep my distances under 75 yard to get maximum accuracy and expansion. Mostly 30-60 yards
