Between the trailer and the actual release, "Baranga" became "Tabonga" (sometimes "Tabanga"). Paul Blaisdell, who created and operated '50s no-budget boogeymen in _The She-Creature, Invasion of the Saucer Men, It Conquered the World_ and more, was hired to design the Tree Monster, but his version's tall, spindly trunk with long, spiderlike branches wouldn't fit a suit-actor, so the producers changed it to...this.
