Planeta Bur (Russian: Планета бурь) is a 1962 Sovcolor Soviet science fiction film.
In English, the film is often informally referred to as Planet of the Storms, Planet of Storms, Planet of Tempests, Planeta Burg, and Storm Planet. In 1965, American film producer Roger Corman gained access to the Soviet film footage and hired film student Curtis Harrington to prepare it for an American release. Harrington added several American-made scenes starring Basil Rathbone and Faith Domergue, which replaced scenes of two of the Russian cast, and dubbed the dialogue to English. The resulting film, re-titled Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, went directly to television from American International Pictures. In the cast and credits, the Russian actors’ names were replaced with fake non-Russian names; for example, the Russian actor Georgiy Zhzhonov was credited as "Kurt Boden".
In 1968, American film director Peter Bogdanovich (under the name Derek Thomas) was hired by Corman to create a second, different American film version, re-titled Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women, to which was added new scenes with American actress Mamie Van Doren and several other attractive women playing Venusians (wearing sea shell brassieres). Also included were some minor scenes from another Russian SF film, Mikhail Karyukov's Nebo Zovyot. This second Americanized version is essentially the same as Corman's first, but retold with a parallel viewpoint of the telepathic Venusian women, whose god (a large pterosaur-like flying creature) is killed by the Earth men, and includes an ending with an ironic twist: The Venusian women find a new god to worship, the now eroded and non-functional robot John. Corman's 2nd version may have had some limited theatrical releases in the American South on the drive-in circuit, but primarily became a "TV movie" released through American International Television.

"Voyage To The Prehistoric Planet" I first saw on UHF TV around '73. TV Guide listed it as coming from Czechoslovakia! I read that Pavel Klushantsev got into some trouble for the scene in PLANETA that showed the female cosmonaut crying. A local party official was very disturbed that Klushantsev portrayed a Soviet woman as "weak".

This is the Soviet film "Planet of Storms", which was remounted and re-dubbed from Russian into English. In the original version of this film, a flight to Venus was made (the film was shot before the landing of automatic vehicles and obtaining data on conditions on the surface of the planet, then there were many theories about this). Throughout the film, in the Russian version, interesting scientific ideas were expressed in the dialogues of the characters.

This is a 1962 Soviet film - “Planet of Storms”. The film was made using unique combined filming technologies, which were far ahead of the foreign analogues that existed at that time. The film did not gain much fame in its homeland, but was purchased by 28 countries, including the USA, where it was re-edited by the American International studio (Roger Corman Productions) with the removal of a number of episodes and the addition of new ones, and was released in this form released in America under the title Journey to a Prehistoric Planet. There was no mention that this was a film production from the USSR, and in the credits the Soviet actors who remained in the frame were given English names and surnames.
American actors Basil Rathbone and Faith Domergue, who appeared in the new scenes, played all their scenes in half a day on the set of the film Queen of Blood (1966), in which they were filming at the time.

That tells me that extra terrestrial life is going to be so unlike what we expect that we won't find it soon because the interface between our livable conditions and theirs is probably too lethal for us to cross no matter the present technology to protect us and as far as senses such as vision, sound and touch they would be totally incompatible with our constitution.

I enjoyed it. I am looking for a movie where the ship lands on a planet and everything is an illusion? It looks like fields and bushes but when a crewmember puts his arm through it is extremely cold and the arm freezes? They meet a woman and she comes on the spaceship, when it leaves she disappears. That is all I remember.

Hadn't seen this one previously. S/f which turned out tad better than expectations! Presumably low budget too, yet had a more pricey look to it re various scenes. Quite decent Sci-fi I thought, Marsha character thought also added to it with her sensible congenial persona played by Faith Domergue.

This IS a soviet movie (it was, before the american film industrie cut it in pieces and added Basil Rathbone). But thats not the point. Today we know a lot more about or solar system and space at all, but also the most modern scifi movies didn't care about scientific facts. Thats the "fiction" - part.

Dinossauros. Kkkk. Esse filme obviamente pega essa ideia. Irreal mas muito legal.
