I was introduced to Uncle Willie K’s music while living in Hawaii. I cannot express how amazingly talented this wonderful man was. There was nothing he could not sing. Seeing him in person only gave you a hint of his versatility.
We have followed Uncle Willie as much as possible...it all started in Maui Hawaii. The vocals that he delivers brings one to tears. Opera, country western, Hawaiian Island tunes, his own songs along with pop tunes and single duets! It was a huge blessing to meet Uncle Willie in the 80s, I knew then he was very special, he will always be remembered, what a blessed gift to be able to still watch him perform today, thank you Willie, Rest in Aloha.

This afternoon I was watching Willie K's beautiful rendition of Ave Maria. Mindful that Willie went to his eternal reward just a few days ago, I was filled with joy at the thought of Willie meeting our Lord Jesus face to face. Any man who could honor Mary the Mother of Jesus with such love, devotion and humility, as Willie does here, will surely be glorified by the Lord Jesus who loved His Mother as only God is able. God speed Willie, you happy man!
I saw him sing this song at Kimos on Front St for my 60th birthday. I lived Lahaina for 25 years and saw him many times, but nothing compared to that night. I also gave him some photos of Willy the Weaver, a close friend of mine who had know Willy K since they were in H.S at Lahainaluna.
I've been visiting Maui for 40 years, and I have never seen Willie K perform. On Dec 15th, I was fortunate to be taken to the Will K and Amy Christmas show at the MAC. I will never forget that performance. The only person that I have experienced captivating a room like that was my dear friend Richie Havens. I pray that Willie beats his cancer and is able to continue to do what he loves best...sing to us and make us laugh!
This is just so special. Ave Maria was sung at my wedding almost 60 years ago but it was nowhere as beautiful as this. Heaven has a very special angel and we all miss you Willie K.
I know, we all miss and love you so much but imagining you playing our favorite Xmas song, "O Holy Night" which is so you as you treat all the angels with your beautiful voice & amazing music on your guitar/ukulele, how lucky they are like you were to us and still is filling us with love in our hearts, tears flowing non-stop, we can't help it.
