Amazing what you can do with PSE if you devote the time to learn it properly.
This is a great demonstration in using the techniques of masking and blending.

Lots of steps either way. Actually I simplified the technique to make it work in PSE. It is more complex but with a better result when done in Photoshop. Basically anything is better in Photoshop. These kinds of projects just require a lot of steps and time.
