I just installed the Roush phase 2 and Bill made this possible and gave me the confidence to do it. It took me 15 hours. If I can help anyone, let me know. Thanks Bill for the videos.
I love everything except the roush tune. It pretty much sucks. If you get on it, it sets off the max torque limiter and puts the car in limp mode so its barley drivable until you shut it down a restart it. So you have to get a different tune. I barley went 60 mph and less than 5000 rpm when this happened.
Is your car a manual? sounds like the clutch protection mode might be kicking in although that should go off once you shift gears. The early tune had an issue with limp mode but that was when the kit was new and was fixed quickly by Roush.
It is a manual. Doesn't go off when switching gears. its giving me code P061B. got my tune in march...is that the early tune? Another problem is I cant get a hold of Roush, by phone, email, live chat, to ask them! Any help Bill is appreciated!
I have a mustang gt with a roush phase 1. This video makes me appreciate the engine a whole lot more knowing it takes a lot of hard work and proper installation.
I helped a buddy with his supercharger install on his 2015 GT, he is a very organized person so he had plastic containers labeled where each set of screws came from... He ran out so he had to throw out some of his leftovers in the fridge 😂😂😂
I don't even own a mustang myself, but this video is so good and so satisfying to watch that I actually sat through the entire duration of the video! Thanks +CJ Pony Parts for providing a video with such good quality, clarity, various camera angles and a chill yet badass background music hahaha. Your Mustang is sick and congratulations on the new acquirement. Hopefully soon enough I'll have the money to buy my own stang, hopefully my so dreamed 2013 Boss 302 and I'll begin installing my own mods ( not that many though).
man im 16 here watching this video trying to learn about engines, upgrades, and certain components that can be useful. im so confused on whats what but your step by step tutorial here is extreeeeeemly helpful. im glad i came across this
It’s a bolt on supercharger it’s not rocket science. Nearly every ford dealer in the country has in most cases multiple technicians qualified to do this job. The ford dealer I work at has 3. One guy has done 30 of them now.
CJ I want to commend you on the knowledge you display working on engines, or vehicle parts in general. I was lost after 5 minutes. If I lived close by I would without hesitation bring my 2007 GT Roush Supercharged Mustang to you. Thanks for sharing.
Bill Tumas I agree. They are the most thorough and practical I've seen, done by someone who is clearly an experienced and talented tech, as opposed to some goofball Hollywood type (AmercianMuscle). My only critique, (most people won't care, but sound for film is something I studied) is the music always playing in the background. It's a bit distracting and can be tiresome. Great job, though! I still don't know if I'll try this job myself on my new GT, though!! I'm worried I'll hurt her, and I really just think a pro will do a better, cleaner job.
jastanger Thank You for the compliment. The sound is something my videographer/editor is regularly conflicted about. We have done a few videos without the sound and we both feel they seem longer without it.
Bill, I used to have a Dodge Challenger, after watching your videos and thoughts on the mustang is what made me switch and trade my challenger in for a 2016 GT PP. So far I've redone the entire suspension system. Just debating to either go all motor or go with a blower! Thanks again for all your great video content and information! I look forward to more content!!
Hey Bill I'm glad you find that the serpentine belt was on the wrong side your fix it right before you put the anti-freeze Great video by the way I would like to know if I'm the only one notice it lol.
AMAZING install video man! You guys make such detailed install videos it makes it look doable for anyone with some knowledge. Cant wait to install this on the 2016! Kudos guys!
Hello my ford friend how about the guys out here that have trucks that they are building with five liter’s coyotes, I’ve been building on my 150 for two years now and plan to put a Roush supper charger but decided to also refresh the motor with rods and bearings . I will be looking for the next episode on install for a f150, this is very educational thank you CJ pony for the lesson. Sincerely ,Scott
thanks for helping me out with my VMP install you guys saved me 2k, I really needed help with the vacuum line's cuz VMP Instructions on the vacuum lines were crappy, awesome video guys :-) really helped me out
Just about to pull the trigger for my 2017, great video! I notice you reran the belt past the idler... I thought it was incorrect. maybe you should have mentioned that.
Don't know how I missed that. Is it still driving sweet? I'm on the UK waiting list and will likely become one of your favourite customers when the car finally turns up :-) Your product reviews are the best by far.
gmoz1 Thanks I appreciate the compliment! The car is running great! Roush had one revision to the tune and everything is spot on. I have around 2000 miles on the car how and absolutely love it
fantastic install nothing left to wonder about except i did not hear u mention to install the coil covers, but thats what the instructions are for but for a guideline on what to do Ford needss to ship u r video with each of these install kits it is that concise i have a gt500 but i still enjoyed the video
The stock tower strut gets removed, so what will go in it's place once the supercharger is installed? What company sells one that will fit with the supercharger?
You don’t need a strut tower brace or anything like that. I felt no difference at all with my car which is a 2016 The suspension is fine no weird noises or anything
Awesome video Hauss. I'll be looking at a mustang tomorrow. I was wondering something though. Do you need to upgrade internals for this supercharger or is it safe for the engine as is? Will it cause premature wear and tear just driving it normally? Does anything else need to be upgraded or is it just this kit and done? What a great mod. Instant beast. Props on your skills. Love the exhaust videos too. Keep up the good work.
Hey Bill. Love the video. I'm leaning towards the roush simply to not void the warranty. Is it mandatory to send the cpu in to keep the warranty? Kinda sucks you lose all factory settings.
Do these new Superchargers bolt onto an older 6-71 style blower manifold? I am interested in installing one on a 351 Cleveland 4 barrel ? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. Excellent Video. All your videos are.
bill thanks for the response wasnt expecting one as i said you do a fantastic job of presentation i say that with some experience as i am now retired from gm as a ase master and L1 for 12 years or when the L1 was first offered emissions master and on and on i have my self love working on cars and teaching automotive for 5yrs so when i say you do a great job i have a pretty idea of what a good instruction presentation is you have it any way ive watched other project you completed i was wondering what horse power and torque that blower car project produced and if u ran it thorough the 1/4
+perry lewis Thanks for the compliments. We have another video with dyno pulls but it made 555/487 to the wheels on the 627 HP tune. Roush just came out with a free upgrade for the kit to bump it to 670 HP. I will be getting the car out to the track early next month with a decent tire on it to see what it can do.
i have a 2014 gt, and i can't find a pdf from roush or any reputable guys on youtube like yourself. how similar would you say the instal on your 2015 gt is to the 2014?
is there a way to purchase the throttle position sensor harness for this application? mine seems to be acting up i’ve already changed the throttle body and the same issue comes up. P2111 and P2135 any info or help is greatly appreciated thank you
for this kit do they just warranty the kit parts? or ford still warranty the entire car? to how many miles? also price for installation if authorized dealer do the installation?
Whilst you're videos are all superb I am always amazed at how clean your vehicles are underneath and in the engine bay, how the hell do you keep a daily that clean?
I have a 2017 mustang GT 6 speed automatic. Do you have to build the auto tranny to match the power output? How much power is the auto tranny rated to withstand? 600whp is a lot. Hate to blow my trans. Also if the transmission is capable of hold 600 hp is this a reliable build? Can I still use my car daily maybe beat on it once in awhile? Will it hold up
Jacob Johnson it is a 6R80 transmission meaning 6 speed rear wheel drive and 800 ftlbs of torque that it is rated for, they can hold more than that though. So you’ll be fine.
Hey Bill. Just got done about 2 hours ago with my install. Thanks so much for the video. Say what you want but... That was a huge pain in the ass!! Who designed those hose clamps? This video was really helpful to use along with the instructions. I just hope everything works!
Great install! Only thing i really noticed near the end was filling with green fluid when there was still orange coolant in the motor. Did this get flushed later down the road?
keep up the great vids, i order all my parts from your website :) bill you come off as a super nice guy and recommend all my friends purchase off ur site.
Hi Bill, just added the phase 1 on my 16 GT. Should I be considering changing the oil pump gears??? I assume if Ford is willing to keep the warranty with this supercharger and not have to change the gears is because it must be safe?? Or am I assuming wrong?
Perusing Person I think you're confusing the Mustang GT with the Ford GT....two VERY different vehicles. Mustang GT is 5.0L v8 where as the GT is a mid-engine turbo v6 sports car. It's like confusing a Porsche 718 Cayman with a GT2 RS
Perusing Person that isn’t true the dealers were just telling him bs cuz they just thought he was a dumb kid wanting a gt500 he literally just ordered two GT500s you really think he spend 1.2 million?😂🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for reposting this. Can't wait to see the dino test. I'm looking for a supercharger for my 73 Mach 1 351C. I'm wanting to run an EZ EFI 2.0\ something like it, but can handle a supercharger. You have a system for 289\302, but not a 351C. I'm in the process of building my engine to a 408 stroker with 9:1 dish pistons. Any recommendations supercharge EFI system.
You stated that the strut brace would not be reused. I've got a 2013 gt that I've been wanting to do this upgrade to. I was wondering if it's possible to use the brace in conjunction with the supercharger? Since you removed it, have you noticed any handling differences?
I have a 2015 mustang gt. I want to put a supercharger on it. In recommendation on what brand to get or what supercharger. I would like to get up to 600 plus hp
Got my car on the dyno yesterday. 566 and 491. Question. Have you had any issues with taking the car for a ride and all of a sudden feel it bog down? Restarted the car and it was all better... It was barely limping with throttle?
I love how you effectively have to mess up the stability of the car and handling just for more horse power. I'd take those braces and a better handling car, than fast in a straight line. Great video though!
This is exactly my thought and why I haven't added a supercharger to my 17. I'd rather have the stability and rigidity of full K members and the cross brace.
will this kit reduce the reliability and longevity of the engine? will it get bad gas milage after installing? im thinking on getting this next summer from your site i live in canada i have the gt 2017 5.0
Since this is a repost I guess I'll repost my comment from the original, the best I can remember. Firstly glad to see you caught the blower belt on the wrong side of the upper idler pulley....LOL. Also it must be major surgery to replace the blower belt when required since it looks like the bracket would need to be removed. Secondly I don't like the Roush requirement for the ECU to be sent to them for re-flash. The first reason is the stock tune is now unavailable to the end user which may cause some complications for returning the car to stock or purchasing a handheld tuner. I'm not sure, but I think a handheld needs to "marry" with the car using the stock Ford strategy. Second reason is if the end user wants to change gear ratios or tire sizes not having a handheld for user adjustable configurations makes the changes not very practical in the sense of speedometer calibration etc. The Ford Racing Whipple kit and others I believe provide for a handheld for the re-flash providing the end user the optimum in customization options for future upgrades. A great kit though and seems like a weekend with pizza and beer would be a reasonable estimate for installation. Also not sure, but it seems like Roush is still tuning "rich", for safety, since it appears a lot of black smoke is coming out the tail pipes. Thanks for the great video install and your '15 Mustang is making my '13 look bad...LOL...LOL
Happy Thanksgiving Bill, question have you heard of any defect on the roush throttle body, cause a wench came out on my dash lost power then I shut down the car restarted it and wrench is gone for now but Im hearing it can be the throttle body....please help if you know or heared anything like this??
I had an issue with the car losing power after a long ride but that was the first generation tune. I got a reflash with a more current tune and had no other issues.
I'm seriously considering getting a GT as my daily driver. Do you think I'd be alright in the winter with a good set of snow tires? (I'm in Toronto, Canada).
Bill Tumas Fair enough, keep up the great videos. I love watching them and congrats on the ride. Supercharged GT like that is my dream car. Can't wait to see videos of you taking her for a spin!
Hey Bill. Thanks for the great video it helped greatly when I installed my sc. I noticed you did not use Ford red coolant. Is that okay to use what you did?
Hey there, Bill! Since your GT has the perf pack, what happens to the vacuum gauge? Would be nice if an oem style vacuum/boost gauge direct replacement, a la ecoboost, comes up in your store. Cheers! Amazing installation video by the way, must have taken a hell of a lot of work.
3:45 he gazed into the deepest part of my soul and knew.. He knew from there on i was now a mustang fan
Lol!!
So true....that's hilarious!!!
Bro, I read your reply and spit beer everywhere. LMAO
Bro I'm deaaad
This should be in the video description!

The most detailed video installation ever. Great job

Same here, and now I want one! Nice job on the filming.

I'm only 16 but I've wanted a Mustang for since I was like 5, I first saw it at a car show and fell in love with it. its my dream car
Oliver Chapman I can say the same
I would sure feel better with Bill installing my Supercharger than letting my local dealership do it
The only time a dealership saw my car was when I drove off the lot with it.
Local won't install it anyway.
I ask Bill, if they do work for the public he said no. I wish he did. Not to many you can trust to do this type of job.
It’s a bolt on supercharger it’s not rocket science. Nearly every ford dealer in the country has in most cases multiple technicians qualified to do this job. The ford dealer I work at has 3. One guy has done 30 of them now.

Yea. I can see that it's not an easy decision, as I don't know what I would do, either. In any case, thanks for the great videos.
18:43 I get the feeling he didnt have a bucket under that haha.
Been there man...
pikula
Koolaid
good for you man, i admire your patience, I'd be swearing up a storm the whole time, I don't know how you hold it back
I don't, I have good editors :)
This is the best channel I have found. Cannot wait for the Mustang to come to Australia. Keep up the good work!
thank you... I'm just playing this in the background while I'm dreaming of buying a mustang.
Try having a mustang and dreaming of buying this kit 😢
this vid is better than a movie:)
The cleaniest installation I have ever seen
3:45 the way he stared I couldn’t look away I was locked eyes with him.

You are probably the 5th or 6th
I don't even have a car yet but I love mustangs so I watch the video anyway 😂
My back is aching just watching you Bill...I think 🤔my local dealer will get this job.😁👍🏽
I just bought 2018 Mustang GT, which is completely stock - picking it up tomorrow 😊
Step 1: Take your entire car apart.
Step 2: Have your disassembled car towed to a custom shop and pay them to complete the supercharger installation for you.
jesaliga I legit was about to get to this point on the 2nd day and 10th hour LOL
@Jonathan Harger Yes.
SkylineBNR34 That’s only for Hondas😄

AMAZING install video man! You guys make such detailed install videos it makes it look doable for anyone with some knowledge. Cant wait to install this on the 2016! Kudos guys!
DISLIKES!? Must be from people who wish they had this Roush Supercharger Kit :)
Hello my ford friend how about the guys out here that have trucks that they are building with five liter’s coyotes, I’ve been building on my 150 for two years now and plan to put a Roush supper charger but decided to also refresh the motor with rods and bearings . Just bought a 2015 watching this made me drool 🤤 jealous, hopefully 🤞thank you for the video.
Great video cj, I can guarantee the hardest part of this install was filming and editing the video.
Nice video.can we get a phase 2 upgrade kit install video?
thanks for helping me out with my VMP install you guys saved me 2k, I really needed help with the vacuum line's cuz VMP Instructions on the vacuum lines were crappy, awesome video guys :-) really helped me out
Just about to pull the trigger for my 2017, great video! I notice you reran the belt past the idler... I thought it was incorrect. maybe you should have mentioned that.
Come on Bill, I'm waiting impatiently to see the driving review with this supercharger.. Can't wait for the details
gmoz1 The dyno and drive video has been up for awhile now on this channel
Don't know how I missed that. Is it still driving sweet?
I'm on the UK waiting list and will likely become one of your favourite customers when the car finally turns up :-)
Your product reviews are the best by far.
gmoz1 Thanks I appreciate the compliment! The car is running great! Roush had one revision to the tune and everything is spot on. I have around 2000 miles on the car how and absolutely love it
GREAT video Bill! I referenced this several times during this past week install of the Roush phase 2 supercharger on my 2017 GT PP. Thanks!
Awesome video.. if you had a shop here in PA I would definitely own a 2015 GT and all my money would go to you for mods.
This guy makes it look so easy.
fantastic install nothing left to wonder about except i did not hear u mention to install the coil covers, but thats what the instructions are for but for a guideline on what to do Ford needss to ship u r video with each of these install kits it is that concise i have a gt500 but i still enjoyed the video
+perry lewis Thanks for the compliment. We do leave some very basic stuff out occasionally to keep the length of the videos down.

Hey Bill. Love the video. I'm leaning towards the roush simply to not void the warranty.
Is it mandatory to send the cpu in to keep the warranty? Kinda sucks you lose all factory settings.
A true professional, this is amazing
Great install video, I really enjoyed it!
I also look forward to your complete review after you driven it for a few hundred miles!
Are you available for install on my 2017 mustang gt
Do these new Superchargers bolt onto an older 6-71 style blower manifold? I am interested in installing one on a 351 Cleveland 4 barrel ? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. Excellent Video. All your videos are.
What are potential downfalls to not using strut bar after installation of supercharger?
bill thanks for the response wasnt expecting one as i said you do a fantastic job of presentation i say that with some experience as i am now retired from gm as a ase master and L1 for 12 years or when the L1 was first offered emissions master and on and on i have my self love working on cars and teaching automotive for 5yrs so when i say you do a great job i have a pretty idea of what a good instruction presentation is you have it any way ive watched other project you completed i was wondering what horse power and torque that blower car project produced and if u ran it thorough the 1/4

This is a very well put together video. Nice job guys.
Awesome video and very detailed. Would've loved a small clip to hear how it would've sounded with the supercharger.
is it a very hard install? or just takes time and patience? Good instructions on how to grind the timing cover?
i have a 2014 gt, and i can't find a pdf from roush or any reputable guys on youtube like yourself. how similar would you say the instal on your 2015 gt is to the 2014?
It is similar, there are some changes though but if you watch this video and follow the Roush instructions you should be fine.
is there a way to purchase the throttle position sensor harness for this application? mine seems to be acting up i’ve already changed the throttle body and the same issue comes up. P2111 and P2135 any info or help is greatly appreciated thank you
for this kit do they just warranty the kit parts? or ford still warranty the entire car? to how many miles? also price for installation if authorized dealer do the installation?
Just want to thank them for telling the viewers that he had the belt routed wrong!🤣 And fixed it at the end of the video.
Hey bill could you please someday do a instalation video for a whipple supercharger? thanks a lot!
Do they have a single bore throttle body that will fit? Like the super cobra jet single bore throttle body.
Whilst you're videos are all superb I am always amazed at how clean your vehicles are underneath and in the engine bay, how the hell do you keep a daily that clean?
Amazing video, you guys do the best installations good details. Do you guys happen to have an install this detailed for the 2014 GT's by chance?
We did not do a 11-14 video but the process is similar.
Man I love your videos. Keep doing what you're doing it helps slot
I have a 2017 mustang GT 6 speed automatic. Do you have to build the auto tranny to match the power output? How much power is the auto tranny rated to withstand? 600whp is a lot. Hey Bill. Just got done about 2 hours ago with my install. Thanks so much for the video. Say what you want but... That was a huge pain in the ass!! Who designed those hose clamps? This video was really helpful to use along with the instructions. I just hope everything works!
Congrats on the install!! Yes I agree on some of the clamps and fitment but nothing we haven't seen before lol
Those clamps would barely go on the hoses for everything that they’re required for but they will go on
Great install! Only thing i really noticed near the end was filling with green fluid when there was still orange coolant in the motor. Did this get flushed later down the road?
+now534 They are both universal coolant and can be safely mixed
CJ Pony Parts lower intake fuel charging assy, can you remove lower intake intercooler for a better one or is it made into lower intake
You can add different heat exchangers but there is no lower intercooler upgrade I am aware of.
keep up the great vids, i order all my parts from your website :) bill you come off as a super nice guy and recommend all my friends purchase off ur site.
So your belt routing was incorrect at first right? Just making sure I saw that correctly lol
Correct
Should I replace the cams an drive shaft when installing the phase 1 kit on my 2017 gt?? Great vid by the way! Awesome!
There is no reason to touch the cams, upgrading the driveshaft is not a bad idea with the additional power. - Bill
CJ Pony Parts thank's for the advice an keep the great vids coming in!!
The roush site says it can’t be installed on mustangs with adaptive cruise control. Which mustangs do and do not have adaptive cruise control?
Hi Bill, just added the phase 1 on my 16 GT. Should I be considering changing the oil pump gears??? I assume if Ford is willing to keep the warranty with this supercharger and not have to change the gears is because it must be safe?? Or am I assuming wrong?
Oil pump gears are always a good idea on high RPM or high HP cars. I would not say they are a necessity but not a bad idea either.
Thanks
dam I was thinking of doing this but there are like a 1000 steps I'll just wait for the gt500
lmfao when you have money...
Perusing Person I think you're confusing the Mustang GT with the Ford GT....two VERY different vehicles. Mustang GT is 5.0L v8 where as the GT is a mid-engine turbo v6 sports car. It's like confusing a Porsche 718 Cayman with a GT2 RS

looks like the Roush SC is a Whipple. What is the benefit of getting a Roush kit instead of a Whipple kit?
You stated that the strut brace would not be reused. I've got a 2013 gt that I've been wanting to do this upgrade to. I was wondering if it's possible to use the brace in conjunction with the supercharger? Since you removed it, have you noticed any handling differences?
I have not noticed any difference at all. I don't know of any braces that will clear the hood and the supercharger.
I have a 2015 mustang gt. I want to put a supercharger on it. In recommendation on what brand to get or what supercharger. I would like to get up to 600 plus hp
Would you be able to take your car to roush to have the supercharger installed by them.
Got my car on the dyno yesterday. 566 and 491. Question. Have you had any issues with taking the car for a ride and all of a sudden feel it bog down? Restarted the car and it was all better... It was barely limping with throttle?
Send me an email, i have some info on that bill at cjponyparts dot com
Great video! Please make one for 11-14s! You can use mine if you want, I have a vmp stage 2 kit waiting to be installed on a 14 grabber blue gt.
hey bud. are half shafts a must? i drive rather moderately
Looks like a big oval TB would be a better fit. I bet that’d pick up some good power!
Bill, great job on the installation. Question, I have 2015 GT automatic, will this Phase 1 Supercharger compatible with mine.
hph
What are we looking at time-wise for this? Trying to accurately quote this installation. Actual labor hours roughly?
+Warhawker 8-10 for a qualified tech, 12-15 for a home mechanic.
+Bill Tumas Thank you
Great video! I want one for my GT now. When are you going to post a dyno and test drive video? I can't wait.
Nick Twaddell If you search our channel it is already up
Would I be able to do this to my 1989 Buick park avenue?
That looks rather simple, long but simple. Makes me want to buy a mustang ...
Bill, why did you decide to go with the Roush SuperCharger and not another brand?
+Jon W I have had TVS superchargers in the past and always liked the power delivery. Warranty is a nice bonus too!
Love all your videos man thanks for all the info and install videos !!!
Bill Tumas so I should call roush for that??
Yes I would suggest contacting them.
ok thank you so much have a good day...
I have pp3 .. do recommend pro charge to keep parts or super charge?🤔
I'm seriously considering getting a GT as my daily driver. Do you think I'd be alright in the winter with a good set of snow tires? (I'm in Toronto, Canada).
***** I can't say I would ever consider driving mine in the snow but I have done ok with other Mustangs with proper tires and driving.
Bill Tumas Why wouldn't you drive yours if you don't mind me asking? The fact that you wouldn't feel safe or just babying it?
***** It's not my daily driver so there is no reason to ever consider driving it in bad weather.
Bill Tumas Fair enough, keep up the great videos. I love watching them and congrats on the ride. Supercharged GT like that is my dream car. Can't wait to see videos of you taking her for a spin!
would you recommend this over the procharger? whats more reliable ? thx
Hey Bill. Thanks for the great video it helped greatly when I installed my sc. I noticed you did not use Ford red coolant. Is that okay to use what you did?
Carl Borino The stuff I used is "world" coolant which is compatible, just a different color.
My only concern with the Roush supercharger is with the fact you have to delete the strut tower brace. Does it affect the handling very much?
Patrick Kean I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure it does to a point.
theres one part in this video where the supercharger belt is fed the wrong way around the idler pulley, they fixed it at the end
How similar is this to installing the Roush supercharger on a 2014 GT?
+herzeleid05 Few small changes but overall very similar
did you install a boost gauge on your car? if so where did you plumb the gauge in?
Great video Bill, I can't find your dyno video...
+Jerome Riggins Search Roush Phase 1 on our page and it will come up
Hey there, Bill! Since your GT has the perf pack, what happens to the vacuum gauge? Would be nice if an oem style vacuum/boost gauge direct replacement, a la ecoboost, comes up in your store. Cheers! Amazing installation video by the way, must have taken a hell of a lot of work.
I am trying to get my hands on the PP Ecoboost boost gauge which is the same size but crazy expensive through Ford
Bill Tumas Let us know once you get your hands on it! In my opinion that would really complete the supercharger install. Too bad about Ford's pricing
at 23.40 what tool did you use to cut the rubber? ty for ur vids btw.
