    Today we are showing you how to install Roush's Phase 1 Supercharger kit on our S550 GT. One of the biggest requests to date has been how to install a supercharger on a Mustang, since the day Bill got his new 2015 he has been talking about putting one on, and has chosen the ROUSH charger system to boost his GT up to around 627 horsepower.
    Installation is a little complicated and very time-consuming. Watch as we take you step by step how to install the Roush Supercharger on your 2015, 2016 or 2017 5.0L Mustang.

    I helped a buddy with his supercharger install on his 2015 GT, he is a very organized person so he had plastic containers labeled where each set of screws came from... He ran out so he had to throw out some of his leftovers in the fridge 😂😂😂

    I just installed the Roush phase 2 and Bill made this possible and gave me the confidence to do it. It took me 15 hours. If I can help anyone, let me know. Thanks Bill for the videos.

      +Chris F do you love it ?

    • @MrFatty239
      @MrFatty239 8 лет назад

      I love everything except the roush tune. It pretty much sucks. If you get on it, it sets off the max torque limiter and puts the car in limp mode so its barley drivable until you shut it down a restart it. So you have to get a different tune. I barley went 60 mph and less than 5000 rpm when this happened.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 8 лет назад

      Is your car a manual? sounds like the clutch protection mode might be kicking in although that should go off once you shift gears. The early tune had an issue with limp mode but that was when the kit was new and was fixed quickly by Roush.

    • @MrFatty239
      @MrFatty239 8 лет назад

      It is a manual. Doesn't go off when switching gears. its giving me code P061B. got my tune in march...is that the early tune? Another problem is I cant get a hold of Roush, by phone, email, live chat, to ask them! Any help Bill is appreciated!

Thanks +CJ Pony Parts for providing a video with such good quality, clarity, various camera angles and a chill yet badass background music hahaha. Your Mustang is sick and congratulations on the new acquirement. Hopefully soon enough I'll have the money to buy my own stang, hopefully my so dreamed 2013 Boss 302 and I'll begin installing my own mods ( not that many though).

      Bill Tumas I agree. They are the most thorough and practical I've seen, done by someone who is clearly an experienced and talented tech, as opposed to some goofball Hollywood type (AmercianMuscle). My only critique, (most people won't care, but sound for film is something I studied) is the music always playing in the background. It's a bit distracting and can be tiresome. Great job, though! I still don't know if I'll try this job myself on my new GT, though!! I'm worried I'll hurt her, and I really just think a pro will do a better, cleaner job.

    Awesome video Hauss. I'll be looking at a mustang tomorrow. I was wondering something though. Do you need to upgrade internals for this supercharger or is it safe for the engine as is? Will it cause premature wear and tear just driving it normally? Does anything else need to be upgraded or is it just this kit and done? What a great mod. Instant beast. Props on your skills. Love the exhaust videos too. Keep up the good work.

    Since this is a repost I guess I'll repost my comment from the original, the best I can remember.
    Firstly glad to see you caught the blower belt on the wrong side of the upper idler pulley....LOL. Also it must be major surgery to replace the blower belt when required since it looks like the bracket would need to be removed.
    Secondly I don't like the Roush requirement for the ECU to be sent to them for re-flash.
    The first reason is the stock tune is now unavailable to the end user which may cause some complications for returning the car to stock or purchasing a handheld tuner. I'm not sure, but I think a handheld needs to "marry" with the car using the stock Ford strategy.
    Second reason is if the end user wants to change gear ratios or tire sizes not having a handheld for user adjustable configurations makes the changes not very practical in the sense of speedometer calibration etc. The Ford Racing Whipple kit and others I believe provide for a handheld for the re-flash providing the end user the optimum in customization options for future upgrades.
    A great kit though and seems like a weekend with pizza and beer would be a reasonable estimate for installation.
    Also not sure, but it seems like Roush is still tuning "rich", for safety, since it appears a lot of black smoke is coming out the tail pipes.
    Thanks for the great video install and your '15 Mustang is making my '13 look bad...LOL...LOL

    Hey Bill. Thanks for the great video it helped greatly when I installed my sc. I noticed you did not use Ford red coolant. Is that okay to use what you did?

      Carl Borino The stuff I used is "world" coolant which is compatible, just a different color.

    Great Video's Bill. I just purchased a 2016 Ford Mustang GT. Do you know of anyone like you guys in Oklahoma? Looking to have the Roush's Phone 1 Supercharged Kit installed but want someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks for any help you can give. ( Just put on a Corsa Extreme Cat-Back with the Black Tips, I purchased from CJ's and it sounds awesome)

    Wait I'm sure I've seen this already, I'm checking the video library and I can't find the original post, this isn't cause of the minor mistake you made by installing the belt over the driveline pulley is it.....haha I noticed anyway I said it before and I'll say it again "man I love being a turtle"...... Wait no that's not it.......great video the most detailed install on RUclips great job.

    Great video providing a much needed visual for this install!!! A couple of iffy parts, but I'm sure someone with half a brain can figure them out.
    My concern on this Roush install is cutting that 'K' Brace. There is a reason for that 'K' Brace and I'm not only looking for straight line speed and acceleration, but also front suspension stability while executing a slalom/road course. Not to mention, it looks so ghetto when you re-install that 'K' Brace even though it has been painted. Really, the only unprofessional mod of this whole install!
    Questions:
    1. Is there another option such as a modified 'K' Brace? Does Whipple require this modification to the 'K' Brace as well?
    2. Will Roush come out with a tune for an automatic GT? Seems kind of strange that they don't have one yet.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 9 лет назад

      Luigi Chincochento The K brace just adds additional support, several models do not even come with it. These modern chassis are so strong they really don't need it, I saw zero drivability changes without it. I went with a Steeda G force lower brace to tie things together up front. Whippled keeps the K brace but also gets rid of the strut tower brace. Roush said the tune is coming soon.

    hey bill im looking into a supercharger in the spring. i was looking into getting the same one as yours. I was wondering how its holding up and i just want to know how it feels over stock. also i have the blowfish manual support bracket on and it feels amazing. i know you have it on yours as well and i was wondering if your center console where the cup holders are ever gets warm. hope to hear back from you :) thx

      +andrew pulcini My supercharger has been great! I have around 9000 miles on it now, I installed the blower around 750. I have had zero problems except for a slight overheating issue hot lapping the car on a road course when it was 102 degrees out which was my own fault. Roush recently came out with a free upgrade to take the kit from 627 to 670 hp for no charge. I don't recall having any additional heat in my cup holder area.

      +CJ Pony Parts sweet :) can't wait to have it installed in the spring :) also did you decide to purchase the additional warranties that roush offers? and if so how much more do they charge for it? thx again :)

    • @chad3801
      @chad3801 8 лет назад

      +andrew pulcini, If you're serious about putting a supercharger on it i'd say take a look at the whipple supercharger. I've installed both a whipple and a roush supercharger on 2015 mustangs. The whipple does not require Griding and modifying your timing cover or valley to fit the belt routing and the inter cooler. Also having put both on the dynojet dyno the whipple's tune is a better tune, although i reccommend getting a custom dyno tune in your area. The whipple also makes more power and has lower IAT's. That said I'm a turbo guy but if i was going to to a supercharger i'd go with a whipple, i've installed lots of them and never had one fail. Good luck in your decision i hope this helps im not here to confuse you haha! If you have a question, feel free to ask!

    I love how you effectively have to mess up the stability of the car and handling just for more horse power. I'd take those braces and a better handling car, than fast in a straight line.
    Great video though!

    • @MikeGossett

      This is exactly my thought and why I haven't added a supercharger to my 17. I'd rather have the stability and rigidity of full K members and the cross brace.

      +2CREATthief also at 59:58 when he filled the fluid, he used the green antifreeze. But after he finished at 1:00:30 it had the orange fluid in it. But I love watching these videos. They are great for a diy'er.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 9 лет назад +3

      +messer23421 I filled it with green universal antifreeze, once it got up to temperature the original pink left in the engine started circulating. That is why the color changed, no trickery there.

    • @messer23421
      @messer23421 9 лет назад +1

      Oh, gotcha. Thanks for the info. I always was told it was bad to mix the antifreeze like that. I also know for a while that the orange stuff really did a number on engines. Is that not the case anymore?

    • @messer23421

      Another question when you have the time, how much power can the stock coyote engine hold without having to forge the pistons and rods? I saw a video of some guys that put a whipple supercharger which they claim gave them over 750 hp at the wheels, but I would think that would destroy a stock motor?
