I believe the Master Volume controls voltage to the power amp does it not? But if you reduce that voltage you will also reduce the amp goodness that results from driving the power tubes. That's why attenuators were invented. They allow you to drive the amp but reduce the voltage to your speakers so you get all the good amp goodness you paid for. So how is this Master Volume mod any different from the Master Volume control found on other amps? And what is its specific function?
I had one of these back in high school in the mid 70's and this is how I remember it to sound. I have heard some of the ones that have been totally tricked out to be distortion and sustain monsters, but my amp was more subtle than that. You really had to play it, because it was fairly clean sounding. I didn't use any pedals in front of it, as I would today to drive it, but there is something very special about the less sustaining, cleaner sounding tone of this amp. I did it... oh the memories.

crap man a master volume would be cheap as hell if you do it yourself. I didnt know they would cost as much as a hotplate for a tech.
A guy playing some Sabbath riffs on a SG Std (pickguard and PUs changed ?) plugged into a modded Marshall can't be a bad guy.
love the riffs man killer tone dude believe it or not heaven and hell was recorded with a modded plexi
