    Very creative setup! That's what we need more, flexible and functional tones!

    Wow your set up sounds great. Which do you prefer the 20 watt plexi or the JCM800? Also, in your other video you mentioned that the amps can get too bright. Is that an equal problem for both or is one better on that issue?

    I use my line 6 Hx fx. Same way. I drop a volume pedal into one of the blocks and use that to control my overall output. It works great.

    For about 12 - 15 bucks for the parts you can just make an effects loop volume control similar to jhs little black amp box.. a couple of input jacks and a audio taper pot and an enclosure, some solder and u have a nice little project and a new toy built by you!

      Most of my musician buddies won’t even adjust their own truss rods let alone build something. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to fix a jack on their instruments with just a socket wrench.

    Great vid, you have a very toneful setup there, nice sounding Les Paul, amp/cab and pedal board, nice playing and note choice. I loved the '80's too ( You can take the kid out of the '80's, but you can't take the '80's out of the kid)

    Awesome video, I just bought a 1987x and yeah it’s stupidly loud. Hopefully this little hack helps to bring the volume down👍

    Great video! Am I right to assume that all the time based effects were added in the efx loop as well before returning to the power stage of the dimed Plexi - and that the volume turned down in the loop also keeps the time based efx 'clean' and not being over driven at the power stage?

    Trying my TC again my chain: TC front - insert out (loops SD1,TS9,L6M5) - to amp input - I'm not using the fx loop on my Origin 50 ....running a line out captor 8 to TC insert return - TC stereo out to HB poweramp 2 PA speakers for a W/D/W rig

    Very useful and informative video. I would only say keep the reverb off for the crunch and overdrive settings for rhythm. Always seems to kill the tightness of a marshall. Otherwise sounds great.

    • @bhosterman
      @bhosterman  3 года назад

      I usually have reverb on the recording so it’s not so stale. Might have over done it. And sometimes I use it to cover up the gate closing. I have bad power so I have a healthy hum to cover up. But for the most part I agree.

    Just got a g system.
    This only works when the amp has an effects loop right?
    I want to do this with a non effects loop plexi style amp

    I use one of those cheap attenuators to tame the volume but if you want bedroom levels it does such the treble out.
    You have to run it a bit loud.

    So can I just plug a volume pedal into the fx send return?

    • @american_psycho1147
      @american_psycho1147 Год назад +2

      Yes. I have a SV20H and I just put a JHS Black Box in the fx loop and use it as a master. Does it degrade the tone? Maybe some will say yes but I don't think so. Go for it!

    Is that expression pedal also working as volume pedal.? What brand is it
    Tx

    • @bhosterman
      @bhosterman  3 года назад

      It can but I have it setup just to control the filter/ wah. It’s a Ernie ball volume pedal. It’s not ideal for a wah control because all the action happens after the halfway position-toe down. I’ve compensated for this by shifting the Mid point in the g system up to around 80%. So basically 0-80% movement of the pedal equals roughly 0-50% sweep in the wah sound.

    sounds good, but there's no power amp distortion :/

    • @bhosterman
      @bhosterman  3 года назад

      Well that’s kind of the by product of having it bedroom volume. I guess you can use a power soak but for my style of music I don’t want power tube distortion. That means I’ve lost all headroom for lead volume boost.
