i feel like the cell saga forced every character to be horribly written for the plot to work, yes trunks has common sense, but you're telling me namek saga vegeta who taught goku the killing philosophy and goku who at the end decided to kill Frieza after he tried to kill goku, is the same goku and vegeta who let cell power up, and didn't kill gero just cause he didn't make the androids yet?, it just doesn't make sense
@IINoir it actually does, Goku won't kill you if you've done nothing wrong yet. Even if you did sum he does still would spare you, as seen with Frieza and Vegeta, and when he chastised Vegeta for killing Recoome. Goku didn't want to kill Frieza but was forced after Frieza betrayed his trust. You can see the disappointment in his face after he kills Frieza, especially in the manga.
What I love about future trunks is that he’s the anti goku in that he’ll also fight to protect people with zero convincing needed but he will not drag out a fight and would never let a villain power up all the way if he can end them immediately. The man doesn’t play around.
Man got trauma from the androids. I wouldn't play around either if I saw all my friends and some of my family die, without any possibility of getting them back.

That’s what I’ve always liked about Trunks. He’s a far more practical and focused fighter who’s only willing to get stronger for the benefit of everyone else, and not just himself. Being raised in an apocalyptic timeline caused him to develop a burning hatred for violence and chaos, which makes sense, because who would actually want to live like that? The Androids made every single day a living hell for him, and Trunks got sick of it, so he opted to find a way to take them out and restore peace to the world. So by training under Gohan, he saw his golden opportunity. He always admired how Gohan never really became a warrior on his own merit, but he answered the call to duty regardless because the world needed a hero. So he adopted that mindset and became a warrior of peace. His world’s versions of Goku and Vegeta were never around, so he didn’t grow up having influences like them that probably would’ve molded him into another battle-hungry Saiyan barbarian who seeks greater power for the sole purpose of being stronger point blank period. Trunks walked his own path and made a vow to keep any if not all violence to a minimum, and when he was sure that the world was safe, he could rest, too. Because of this, he makes more logical decisions in battle when it comes to dealing with the enemy in question. Unlike his father or Goku, Trunks doesn’t like to prolong the battle for the sake of getting a good fight, because he’s a lot better at controlling his Saiyan impulses and can get hyper focused on the main objective, which is to take down the enemy as soon as possible. And that’s why he wasted no time with 17,18,Cell, and Babidi and Dabura. Frieza and his dad caught the smoke in less than 5 minutes, too. I’m glad during the Androids saga, Trunks stuck to his guns, and didn’t let Vegeta’s Saiyan pride bullshit make him lose focus from his mission. He wanted to bring down the Androids and Cell as soon as possible, but then you had people like Krillin, Vegeta, Goku, and Gohan who made everything worse due to acting out of impulse. It was ridiculous! I like how Trunks, Piccolo, and Tien were the only ones truly locked in!
amazing comment, I said something in another thread, and its that although trunks is a G, the cell saga kinda ruined some of the main characters for the plot to work and to also highlight trunks intelligence, vegeta in the namek saga killed quick and taught goku the law of killing, goku rejected the philosophy until after Frieza rejected his mercy, then in the cell saga trunks warns Goku but goku sparres doctor gero even tho he knows what will happen and vegeta trolls cell and even tries to hurt trunks instead of stopping cell, this is not the same vegeta and goku in the namek saga, literally at the end of the saga goku tells gohan to kill cell and vegeta has regret in his actions, meaning goku and Vegetas characters regressed and only came back to their namek saga versions when it was too late

He swung back for Gohan, the Z Fighters and all the earthlings against the androids and I was all for it. He has the backstory in dbz and a story that was resolved well. That's why he's my favourite character and the GOAT.
Future Trunks, the only Saiyan that took protecting Earth seriously. No letting bad guys power up for a good fight, no letting them heal, he didn't skip training to work at an office.
I think it's less that Trunks is as savage as Vegeta is, but more like he values life a lot more. Future Trunks grew up in a time where there wasn't any dragon balls to magically fix his problems unlike in the main timeline, so he thinks a lot more carefully and isn't as careless as the other Z warriors because he knows how truly bad things can get if he becomes careless and lets dangerous powerful enemies live. We've seen that at heart Trunks is a kind person from the start and that doesn't change, but he knows that he just can't afford to let dangerous enemies live since he can't just magically wish people back from the dead.
I didn't love how whiney they made super trunks, or the blue hair, but hearing my boy packed up Daburs and bobiddy so efficiently that Buu couldn't even appear was pretty cool
Future trunks is always gonna be my favorite character in the whole franchise. He doesn’t get a lot of credit if it weren’t for him, Goku, or anyone else would not be alive not to mention the fact he’s the only one that doesn’t play around in his fights and actually gets straight to the point and just kill the potential target he’s fighting if he had Gohan’s power in the cell saga, he for sure would have just finished cell off

We can thank his encounter with Vegeta for amping him up by teaching him about his lineage I mean imagine being told by Vegeta "you're supposed to be called Prince Trunks". Imagine how much more he hates bad guys after knowing they're the reason he's not living the ultimate soft life
Kinda cool that at the end of the Cell Saga you had Gohan in the main timeline protecting it and Trunks in the future timeline protecting it. The sons of Goku and Vegeta taking their places.
future trunks is my favorite Character he doesnt fuck around like goku and vegeta do...hes like:"oh you wanna destroy earth?! aight imma slice your ass into more pieces then there exists one piece episodes! " and when the enemy is to strong he goes to the alternative timeline where goku and the others are alive,helps them out against fighting the threat ,getting bodied in the Prozess but without dying so he gets a couple zenkai boosts and Training in plus the knowledge what the enemy is capable of ,then goes back to his time and then be like:"ok now i can blast his ass into the sun on my own!" and he looks cool while doing it...but i must say i prefer his old violet hair colour it was unique and it suited him ...but the "bulma blue" looks good regardless...
also the fact that Saiyan human hybrids are generally stronger than full blooded Saiyans due to higher potential ceiling they just don't like violence or battles which is why Gohan gave up training and why trunks ends fights super quick
