Nagito's my absolute fave in DR, and one of my top 3 characters of all time! I knew most of these, but I actually didn't know that the meteor showers were linked to his desire to read outdoors. I was also really happy when you mentioned the fact about him and Makoto being almost parallels. The doppelganger is one of my favorite tropes in fiction, and I really wish he had gotten more screentime with Makoto so we could see what happens when the doppelgangers meet! What i wanna know is if he does actually have this cancer he talked about where he said he had about (i cannot exactly remember) 1/2-1 1/2 years left to live. At first i thought maybe this was a forgotten fact people forgot to add to the anime but then i realized in sdr2 it was their first few days or month(s) on the island when Nagito said this and his class are a class higher than makoto's and Makoto's class was in hope's peak for 3 years after Nagito's class fell into despair. Going with the anime by the time he became despair i felt he should of been close to death. Udg was after dr1 and idk how long that game and rounding up all the RoD would take but from Nagito's mindset to Nagito's coma body in terms of years seems like Nagito should be dead. Shouldn't he be dead or did somehow becoming a RoD made him cured from his supposidly uncurable cancer? Even without the anime or udg and we are just talking about dr1 and sdr2 i feel it will still be about 4 years more or less.

I have no proof whatsoever (I've finished all games, but haven't started anime yet), but what theoretically could've happened is that they made his cancer progress slower with chemotherapy or something, because Hope's Peak definitely has some advanced technologies (since they were able to perform brain surgery and even create talents artificially- that whole story with Izuru Kamakura). Also I'm pretty sure that at least the frontotemporal dementia part was the truth. When he first appeared in UDG, my first thought was "Oh God, his dementia has gotten worse". It was pretty noticeable with how he reacted to things slightly different - just enough to make it feel like something's off - and especially how he spoke slower (from what I read, dementia affects not only social behavior, but also speech and thinking).
