The way those shop owners explained their work and about their shop with the love towards their place and customers and mainly with the love towards their making it just brought back the memories of my Kolkata days ❤️❤️❤️❤️
People look at these slum like conditions and have a perception that people are unhappy. But just look at these two guys, early to rise, doing what they love and serving the community.
Its so difficult to find this unity in community. There's something magical about this kind of life. Simplicity. Contentedness. And Purposefullness.
Those three you mentioned are very hard to attain in today's day and age

There's something in the shots. This episode looks so much better, even more so than the previous ones. The team has caught the vibe very well! One thing to note is that the Kochuri seller had the whole root of hing! Previously, afghans used to sell it in Kolkata back in the colonial days, but now it comes in dust, store-bought form! I'm guessing this root paste is gonna taste much better.
Solid hing is available through out the country, but people prefer the powdered form for ease of use. Handling solid hing with fingers leaves a lingering aroma which does not go even when washed with soap.
Terrific job of shining limelight on inspiring hardworking folks that truly have a passion for their craft. Well done CNA!

Love to see my city and thanks CNA for this. I grew up with it and I am glad to see our heritage showcased in such a phenomenal manner. This is the true comfort food of Kolkata, here in Kolkata we have a vibrant culture, along with that we have a wide array of cuisines to choose from North Indian, South Indian, gujrati, punjabi, jain, marwari, continental, asian, persian, American comfort, Italian, European fine dining etcetera but nothing can beat that humble club kachori and alu torkari. That I can assure you.....

@@anushkanaskar4821 Bengal and Kolkata have a special place in our hearts, not just as the home of great freedom fighters & social revolutionaries, but as an important centre of Indian food culture. It is state where even a labourer can eat his fill like a king, as can a rich man. Ignore the haters, they are politically motivated.
This guy has a knack for choosing the right ingredients. His intuition in cooking is commendable!
I love these food streets of kolkata.I feel Kolkata's street food is by far one of the best in India. Even the vegetable markets are so pleasing to the eyes with greens all around along with those river water live fish. Its a vegetable and fish shopping delight experience with so many varieties to choose from. Delicious, sumptuous fish curry with the inherent taste of all those vegetables. The vegetable chop and ghugni of west bengal are very delicious ufff just kono katha hobe na, by far the best taste 😋.

The most important ingredient is the love and emotion towards their work. This is the most unique food in Bengal, you will never get this taste no matter whichever 5star dishes you have eaten
Lovely video! Reminded me of home, but personally, I didn't appreciate the word 'slum food.' I saw the Ganges-the holy river, the people, the food, and the hard-working common men striving to make a difference. Now sure how 'this' is related to 'slum.'

humble, what a beautiful mindset to have in a life that is bound to break you down since birth.
Kolkata's rusty vibe is so pleasing, I am not against development but I never want Kolkata to become next Mumbai or Bangalore..
Rusty vibe and development are different,, Development and Tradition can go hand in hand,, just like cities in Japan,, Kolkata and other Indian cities have their own beauty and they they need to be developed accordingly
typical communist bangali. What's the problem with conserving the culture when being more developed at the same time?!
It won’t change, but the people won’t get the chance to have equal footing if they step out. That’s what I observe.
It's my childhood place. I used to play at Kumartuli Park will my friends. Very nostalgic. Superb documentary.
I have so much respect for these people who do whatever it takes to make an honest living and do it with pride.
Kudos!!!This is how you portray real Indian food !!! watching today's Indian food vloggers is very annoying....this how you present ART

The kachori man’s life is way better and luxurious than a cubicle slave who struggles in fear and insecurity of being laid off at the drop of a hat.

Missing Kolkata...there is a different story of Kolkata...wish I could go back home..
Great job CNA for highlighting the real Calcutta. With time such small eateries/shacks are disappearing due to government crackdown to improve the aesthetic looks of the ever developing metropolis.
The guy selling yellow pea curry is a 'priest' caste, allegedly called 'upper caste'. I see so many people judging others from India based on 'caste' in my university, kind of stupid to umbrella everyone based on the shallow knowledge or biased news you hear via internet.
I am not from priest class, but the reverse casteism they are facing is tremendous. Shamed for what their ancestors did and even not given equal opportunity. And they despite that clear exams with more marks than us. And yet are slammed to wear their traditional symbols. Or even bashed for their name, they didn’t choose for themselves.
My friend left India because of that, only to be attacked in USA. Like blacks have completely attacked whites, even the progressive whites feel sorry for their skin colour, similar is the condition of upper castes in India.
In struggle for equality, we lower castes are on the path of revenge.
I cannot lose my friend, who never made me feel different. But I am targeted by my fellow caste mates, even some liberal upper caste people who tell me that I am discriminated. I sometimes don’t wish to have children in this terrible world, where justice is overlooked and revenge is sought out.
Love the handwritten motivational note on the wall at 1:08.
