FullTouch is so cool. Full expression in both directions for the full length of key travel.

The action of the FullTouch MPE is exactly what I wanted for playing sampled string libraries

Just waiting for the Keylab MK3 imagine this keybed with their great build quality and all the faders and knobs we need, the expression for mpe would be amazing and the upgrade we need

Thanks Dan! I’m convinced. After seeing enough reviews and your bits I ordered it through Sweetwater. Love the two years of free support!

I see a preset folder labeled "Daniel Fisher" in my miniNova Librarian software , is that you? If so, do you have a demo video available showcasing these presets? Novation finally got their miniNova Editor and Librarian programs running on an M class Mac, very nice!

The complexity of sound achieved trough MPE seems to have a strange effect on an analog synth: It almost sounds like a VST. Maybe this is simply the case because complex modulation is easyer to program in a DAW and we are allready familiar to such sounds from that realm.

It is hardware, it sounds very warm and analog and very far from the vst sound. The fact that it sounds like a vst is a classic and unreal story, some purists and fans of prophets and oberheims who have never owned this machine started running.

This is cool but I will never give up on the hydrasynth. I still have alot to learn

Having a button to change between AT functionality looks super functional and flexible.
The full touch sounds/looks like its expressive nature is similar to the Osmose key response, where the fingering (velocity, depth and AT) takes the place of an envelope response. In truth every keyboard/key bed is very different, and gives a different response so, each lends itself to a different expressive performance capability. The weighted piano (and controllers) are traditional. Even my weighted controller doesn't have AT, but neither does an actual acoustic piano so I don't feel lacking when I play the controller. My Hammond keys are just simple gates without any velocity or AT, but organs don't have that so no loss. My Hydrasynth gives poly AT plus the separate ribbon for various effects with a standard keyboard delivery. My Seaboard allows 4 octave pitch bend dives and freedom to slide between any two notes, though not being a traditional keyboard, it requires it's own technique and practice. My Osmose, with it's horizontally moving keys allows the most natural compromise between a keyboard and the seaboard for vibrato and AT. All together it's the right tool for the right performance technique/job.
Funny enough, even with all that to choose from, I've still never played a modern keyboard on ANY current synth (typically either with a proprietary or more likely, a Fatar key bed) that can let me play as fast as my old P5 Pratt-Reid keyboard. It snaps back faster than anything else I've played, allowing me to to play two handed hammer-on type leads. No other key bed snaps back fast enough for me, and no velocity or AT means no extra sensors to soften the feel of the keys. They're as fast as a Hammond, maybe faster IMO. :)
What an amazing time we live in. I can only wonder what's next? :)

Owning a Hydrasynth is like going to synth college.

@@davebellamy4867 that's a good thing right. Isn't the point to always continue learning.

@@malikdavis6091 Exactly. The hydrasynth can literally do anything if you know what you're doing. People who turn their heads away are blinded by ignorant conjecture on "analog" and "digital" sounds; if you know what you're doing it doesn't matter.

This is another feature that Arturia have implemented where they seem to have been inspired by Expressive E again. First with the Morphee and now with this new keybed which seems to have been inspired by the Osmose. While the Osmose can still do more than this, it's cool to see this level of expressive potential combined with an analog synth engine, particularly one as versatile and sophisticated as the PolyBrute. I may trade my standard PolyBrute towards this if only to get a better feeling action. To that point, it's nice to see Arturia putting what I hope is a better feeling keybed into their products because their synths are great but IMO let down by flimsy keybeds which remind me of a $200 midi controller. The fact that this new one seems to feel better AND incorporate these expressive possibilities is exciting. I hope they revisit the otherwise excellent MatrixBrute in a similar way.
