The fact that Euphoria is still played plenty on the radio (at least here in the Netherlands) 11 years later just shows what this song did for Eurovision... I think she pulled an ABBA! ❤
I never like these type of songs but it’s just impossible not to feel happy and full of energy when tattoo builds. And no one else would be able to perform it like Loreen does!
@@Scheherasad I would say the third corous (after the ‘pause’ and hand movements). Maybe not as much in the studio version but live, and with Loreen in her true environment - performing, it really makes me feel every time
@@myass5679 It builds a growing expectation that gets rewarded by Loreen's belting vocals right after and the song tapers out with the string instruments. The entire song has a "building" effect since it starts with Loreen's soft vocals and they get stronger the further into the song we get. The bridge (where Loreen does her hand movements and she goes back to soft vocals) brings out that climax from the contrast of the powerful singing to quiet instrumentals and soft vocals, and then pulls you right back in when the belting starts with the strong instrumentals again. Idk i think it's an incredibly composed song
Tattoo is just altogether too similar to Euphoria to be the true best song this year. I can't dispute how good Loreen is live and how she could create a wall of sound by singing an advertisement for a plumber but I just can't get excited for a nostalgia act when we could have had Statements a few years ago. If she wins I'll be ecstatic but it will be tinged with a kind of sadness that it's not with a better song.
I mostly agree, although I would add that Loreen would be a "boring" winner as well. Boring in a sense that the song has been done before and brings nothing new.
I’m really sorry for the Eurovision artists and the fan base when it comes to the vocal few who feel the constant need to prove that Tattoo is “overrated” or “overhyped because it’s Loreen”. I wasn’t even a fan of Eurovision when she won but I can easily tell that she’s a kind soul and gets along very well with the other contestants, so I wish everybody good luck. I only come here to be entertained, and what it Eurovision if not entertaining? Thanks for the video, Matt!
I mean you can say the song is overrated without making it personal against Loreen. And the song is overrated, just it's also performed by a wonderful vocalist and performer.
thing is, and it's not a new or hot take, if tattoo was the exact same song, sung the exact same way with the same voice (or even person if we were in a parallel universe where loreen wasn't a swedish winner of esc), but representing a country like azerbaijan or montenegro, nobody would care, or at least not to the same level. it's not just overhyped because it's loreen, it's also overhyped because it's sweden like almost every swedish entry has been since... well, since loreen won 🤷♀
@@iyawakarehenif it was performed by other people or country then it wouldn’t get the hype because ONLY LOREEN CAN ELEVATE THIS SONG so stop all of these sweden hate :)))
Euphoria is just a classic. An eurovision moment that won't be forgotten. And I'm always thinking how it would be if the Euphoria moment was nowadays? Now that Eurovision is more World than Euro, Loreen might hit the sky in the charts! However, Tattoo is not a amazing song as Euphoria, even being so similar ... I think that Loreen as a performer deserves to be recognized and be part of the pop music charts all over the world, she is waiting for this since 2012 and she deserves that! Hoping that some tiktoker brings Euphoria back to life in some video to show that Loreen has a lot to offer since 2012! 🎉
Actually, Europhoria was made from the same mould as other popular Scandi dance tracks from the era; think Swedish House Mafia or Avicii. You could even do a mashup of Euphoria and Don't You Worry Child since they're so similar. Mans Zelmerlow repeated that formula to victory in 2015. And now Loreen has done the same thing again.
Loreen is an incredibly talented and superb performer with the ability to elevate a mediocre song into something much more powerful. For that I give her credit, and she certainly deserves to do well this year. However I don't think the song is a worthy winner. The charming eccentricities of Finland, Serbia, and Spain feel more refreshing and worthy of recognition to me. I'd much rather see any of them take the trophy.
@@tanktheplayer4275 Absolutely, and I think all the countries I mentioned also have very captivating performances, strong live vocals, charisma and stage presence. They're not just quirky songs, they're multidimensional and meaningful.
SERBIA? NO F**ING WAY.. BOth last year and this year have great performers, but who BARELY SING WORTH A DAMN. At least Kaarija will be realistically singing when he shifts song styles.. Luke? Great performer... barely passable when he sings. Konstrakta also didnt put any real effort into singing. While I dont insist on brilliant songs, I do insist the performer is truly SINGING and putting in some major effort. All the Big 5 Acts are doing MAJOR vocal work this year.. and frankly for that alone deserve their qualifications.
@@ZakhadWOW That’s nonsense, first off if you claim there’s not much singing in Serbia’s song, then you can’t say the opposite for Finland because with all due respect to Kaarija, but there’s even less in the Finnish song, and the part you refer to doesn’t call for much vocal ability. As for your referral to last year’s Serbian entry, Konstrakta, that was the style of the song and she finished top 5 so clearly the song can take preference over a vocal as long as it’s quality, so your opinion is worthless!
The superfans only control what gets out of the semi into the final. The outcome of the final Still depends on the song on the night & the ordinary people voting for it on its merit. There are plenty of casual viewers who don't even know who Loreen is, even if they watched in 2012 (trust me, I know some people I had to explain it to). Tattoo is good, it's getting trendy to say it isn't. It won't be surprising if it comes anywhere top 5, and it'll be really enjoyable to watch it happen.
I mean Tattoo is a good song, super well produced, Loreen is an amazing artist. No hate here. BUT does it deserve all the hype? I believe other great songs are not even given the proper chance this year. Plus, Tattoo is nothing too groundbreaking, it’s a 2023 version of Euphoria, which back then was something. But now? Idk..
I think Matthew made the point that is it not a groundbreaking song. Rather a good song, that is made amazing with how it was performed and by whom. Also, it is really unfair to compare it to Euphoria. I wonder when people will stop this justification.
@@studio-fn7yl both songs have very similar beat, structure, chorus, genre. Same singer, same competition, same stage (absolutely stunning) effect. How come not compare the two? Again, it is overall very good. I just think it is a shame the Loreen effect is not giving other songs a chance.
@@studio-fn7yl I mean when an act returns to Eurovision you are naturally going to compare the new entry with their previous entry, especially when the returning artist won the contest. See: Rybak, Dana.
At first I was disapointed (not petrified) over Tattoo not beeing a new Euphoria (song I still get shivers from just humming it cause of epic outstanding great even without the performance) but now I'm totally into it. Hugely totally. I predict there will be an exciting final in Liverpool this year since there's some heavy competition for the win. 🇸🇪💃🏾🦖🥐🚜
@@studio-fn7ylPeople stop it when Loreen comes to eurovision with a new song that is something new for Loreen that pushes her a bit outside the euphoria box. (And then swedish people could drop her from melodifestivalen again.) If 'taking inspiration' is a must for sweden she could have copied Sting's desert rose and would have gotten my vote. I bet it would be amazing with her.
I'm going to pause the video at about 9 minutes in to tell you that Glorious is to this day one of my most regularly listened to Eurovision entries, to the point where I don't listen to it in a Eurovision context. As you said, Euphoria as a song? It's alright. As a union of music and performance? Legendary. Glorious as a song? An absolutely fantastic example of its own genre that ages extraordinarily well.
Glorious and Euphoria have a big difference: the genre. While on one hand Euphoria was a well thought pop song, which was a breath of fresh air to the music industry and to a too gimmicky and silly eurovision, Glorious was the EDM remix that nobody asked for.
@@rageguy311 you would be surprised, but Russia is actually extremely homogeneous in terms of culture, theres little to no regional variation to what media people consume and so on. There aren't really any dialects even, during the Soviet times everything was forced into one mold.
I tried to explain to my 76 year old mother how big Loreen is in Eurovision and she didn't really get it until I showed her the interview where Mae totally loses it and becomes starstruck because Loreen enters the venue.
There is a drawback for legitmising Eurovision through radio hits. Different countries tries to do the same and they end up with generic and the most unoriginal songs that perform well in focus groups as they can appeal to average listeners. I don't want such type of Eurovision. Besides it doesn't matter that much in the era of streaming.
Love your dedication you try to explain, understand and compare. Its very advanced but overlooks completely the most important thing; law of attraction; energy, journeys and authentic struggles, storytelling and staying true to core intuition of the artist…would love to have a separate chat with you giving my interpretation of why certain winners win and why certain things repeat succesfully why many people don’t understand it rationally/consciously - its more complicated than your analysis; which is already in-depth and interesting. 4:20 In Wallonia (french speaking part of Belgium), "Running scared" reached #7 on the bubbling under charts. It never reached the general charts (top 50).
Forget Sia and Bjork, Loreen's performance in 2012 was clearly inspired by Kate Bush and her video for Hammer Horror. As far as legendary performances that legitimized the contest, well that has already happened with another Swedish entry back 1974 by a group you might have heard, I think they are called ABBA. Following that win, even the Brits were dead serious about the contest. Loreen's return feels more like a case of self indulgence mixed with a desperate attempt to reignite her career that went nowhere after Euphoria, her only hit. Once again this year, the ESC "bubble" has already decided who should win just as the oddsmakers did - Sweden topped all odds long before a song was even selected and that tells you all you need to know about where the contest is these days. This is the problem with ESC and as someone who has been watching the contest since the 70s, I find this disappointing and for the first time since 1977 I have no interest in watching the show. Why bother if the winner has already been decided ? Even worse, her return takes away the opportunity for other younger artists from Sweden (or elsewhere) to have a chance at winning. What's next, the return of Ell & Nikki or Conchita?
Stop this narrative! Returning artist are nothing new to ESC. Lena, Rybak, Logan; Carola, Dana etc. It adds to the mix. I love it! If you only want debutants maybe go watch Idol or the Voice instead!
@@evipevi1973 Ah yes, who can forget the incredible entries by Rybek in 2018 or Carola in 2006. Those entries "added" so much to the mix, their contributions are still oozing down the ESC stage 🤣🤣
I think this will be a very close Eurovision. I don't see a runaway winner, I see like 5 acts that will split the juries and 5 acts that will split the televote. Jury favorites for me are (Tattoo, Cha Cha Cha, Evidement, Bridges, Eaeaea) and televote heavy will be (Cha Cha Cha, Tattoo, Who the Hell is Edgar?, Unicorn, and Heart of Steel). It's a crowded field of great performers, and a lot of the songs get better with multiple listens... except most ESC watchers will be hearing these songs for the first time. It should be exciting, regardless of who wins.
@@FenixDown23 The song isn’t really that good. It’s like a few minutes of her singing Unicorn. The lyrics and the structure are very weird tbh. Especially in the end when she says ”You wanna see me dance”😂 Like what?! The dance break is the only good thing, but then it’s only 20 seconds left of the song😅
The song "Tattoo" is not bad per se, but compared to "Euphoria" it falls a bit flat. Loreen is for sure a good performer, but I'm really interested in how Käärijä who is the runner-up is gonna place.
I would really like to get in on the hype around Tattoo and Loreen, but I really don't get it. The lyrics are ordinary, the music is repetitive, many people agree on that, but will say that her performance elevates it. However, I'm not sure if we're watching the same thing, since as a trained musician I hear a singer with a forced vocal timbre and discutable articulation, who is out of breath and off pitch for a considerable portion of her performance. I get that she seems to have a nice personality and has lots of stage presence, but to me it doesn't make a great song nor a great performance. However, I'm ready to change my mind, as last year it took me a very long time to get warmed up to "Hold me closer", which I fully appreciate now.
I had never heard of Loreen before this Eurovision unfortunately the UK never took it seriously and any winning Eurovision song barely makes the charts. We don’t get to choose the song or the singer we just get it on tv. For me Tattoo has 90’s Ibiza style music to it (been done before ) and I just don’t get the hype.
Wow I sure didnt visit the same clubs as you on Ibiza. Damn it! I would have looooved songs like that! You couldn't have been dancing a lot though considering this is a mid tempo anthem-like song and not a party tune...
@@evipevi1973 It’s the backing tune before she starts singing that is giving me Kevin and Perry vibes ( if you’ve seen the film ) you will know where I’m coming from…
You've articulated exactly what I've been saying since I saw Loreen perform Tattoo in Melodifestivalen. Loreen elevates whatever she sings and performs into something truly special, and that's the strength of Euphoria in 2012 and Tattoo now.
I don't know if it's fair to insinuate Euphoria (if anything) was plagiarising Cascada and not the other way around because Euphoria is electronic pop and so is Cascada - that's a reach. Just to assume the position of neutrality anyway. But then again, I suppose this channel is called "Overthinking it" so that's exactly what was done here lol. Well played!
Other way around, Cascada has a habit of doing their own takes on popular songs. Check out San Francisco, a track that bears a suspicious resemblance to California Girls.
Will the overthinking of Tattoo cover the pain as the needle hits nerve? Compare practices of Japan, Polynesia and Western such as Sailor Jerry? Or what newton forces upon the diaphragm as a singer performs on her side opposed to singing standing up? What are some other difficult things would she encounter while singing on the ground? Other difficulties as the huge mass hovers above her in a reverse Giles Corey death? And why were her nails way long? Seems like a chav thing to wear...
The song itself MUST be great if it's high in the charts, man! But you're right, the lyrics aren't as deep as some other songs I've heard. However, I believe that if you search the lyric video for Loreen's 2017 Melodifastivalen entry "Statements" and later the Mel. performance of it, I think you'll find there is a deep meaning behind it. Do the same with her 2022 song "Neon Lights" and its official video too.
I agree with many critics that Loreen is wonderful singer but Tattoo is just worse song than Euphoria. Euphoria was catchy and easy to remember. Tattoo has less earworm potential. I feel very disapponted if it wins. I like My Sister's Crown or Queen of Kings much more.
I have an idea: since Loreen is so special why dont each country pays her million to represent it? 😅😅😅she won’t have to worry about anything then. And this way all the countries who haven’t won yet, will have theri win. And she will be paid million each year only to perform on Eurovision! P.s never was a fan of here, even of euphoria. But whoever votes a singer just because of his name and not because of the actual song then the problem it’s him. If Loreen got on stage and sang only aaah aaah , would you vote fore her just because it’s her? Jeez
You are wrong, i dont think that many people thinks Loreen is interesting again, she had her victory that time, now she is doing a Cascada and copying Loreen. Great channel by the way, you make Eurovision much more interesting then it really is 😁
Basically in Italy nobody cared about eurovision. It was considered an outdated show with terribly dressed singers performing cheesy and horrible songs. After Loreen's won with a contemporary and classy song, Italians started appreciating eurovision
What especially made Glorious so crass was the context. Bringing a song with strikingly similar chord progression to ESC the very next year from when its possible inspiration became a giant success, meaning it was the contest hosted by that country whose artist made the song. Had it been 10 years later, it would've probably been met with nostalgic comparison, but surely the clock was ticking for Cascada already in 2013.
If they had gone with a similar song without trying to recap on Euphoria QUITE so obviously, they would have done a lot better. (But Cezar would still be 3x better.)
Euphoria followed the 90s MTV lesson of ''the video/staging complements the song'' and nailed it. Her staging elevated the song, but the song on its own is average. The same thing happened to Fuego. Now, do we need Loreen to win again? Heck no. Times have moved on and her current contribution is below par, mirroring her first one more than a decade ago.
The fact that she can only win in Sweden with a song very similar to euphoria says it all! Yes she is good artist no doubt about it but she shouldn’t have to make almost the same song to be able to win, she has competed in Melodifestivalen several times after euphoria and did not even make it to the final and this song is not even that special and as a lot of people have said this year “she did only win because she is loreen, any other artist would not win with that song” and that is probably true as she skyrocketed the betting a long time before she even competed and no one had heard her song yet.
It isn't about what kind of song deserves to win - it's about what kind of song the viewers (and juries) like. We can all put the great songs on our personal playlists where they will get the appreciation they deserve.
The other contestants in melodifestivalen were shit tbh so it was obvious from the start that she was gonna win even from just her performance alone lol
Other artists wouldn't win with the same song not because they're not well known, but because they're not as good at her lol. I mean, how can you dispute those vocals. It's like the emotions are pouring out of her - that's what people are connecting to here.
I understand how euphoric everyone was with Loreen in 2012, but I don't get the same hype this year. Sure, she is a fantastic performer, but the song doesn't deserve to win this year, IMHO.
@@Bandido894 Hola Bandido. Mi inglés no es nativo, ¿preguntas porque no entendías qué quería decir? I meant in spite of Loreen being so beloved and having a good song. Just a feeling, we all know in Eurovision, you never know what might happen. I‘d be happy with other winners as well, this year I like several songs.
Italy's Gigliola Cinquetti won in 1964 and came back ten years later, in 1974 placing 2nd. She placed second to ABBA's Waterloo, to be exact. Loreen is a gifted performer with stage presence and and an excellent voice. Her ESC entry is far from great though. The first minute or so is good, but the rest in numb repetition of the same theme. A bit like what happened last year with overrated Cornelia Jakobs who also had a very bland, very repetitive song.
Loreen is truly "the full package" in the best sense: staging, styling and the song. The problem with her though is that without appropriately elaborate staging, the songs aren't much appealing. Without the giant "panini press", Tattoo is a good enough hit, but that's it.
I think, she is a big think, because her personality is very pleasant, her aura is very warm and dearing. Plus, euphoria is one of the most memorable ESC winning songs, which has also become a hit beyond Eurovision, something that seldom happens. Plus, she represents Sweden, the most favourite ESC "kind", a "big" ESC country. I really think out of all these reasons and not because of her mediocre mid pop ballad "Tattoo"...
@@MsMeyara I don't think he will, he will get a super good result in the televote, but I think, or better I expect that the most juries will ignore him or wil just give him 1-2 points just because the public lines him so much. Neither will Schweden win, look for the winner somewhere between France, Norway, Israel, Czechia, Austria
I can agree that the song alone is pretty Meh. Also she wasn't popular at all where I live 10 years ago, so her name means nothing to me, either. Let's wait until the semis to see what's all this fuzz about
Love love this channel! And Loreen of course - I dont know if Tattoo is better than Europhoria but it sure is than any other song this year (and I am talking about the wholr package) - whoever denies this is just makinb themself a joke
For 2nd year in the row Eurovision will be won by someone not because of the song, but because of who the winner is, last year Ukraine won just because it was Ukraine, they could send any other song and they would win anyway, this year Loreen will win just because it's Loreen and because she is loved so much by the fandom (I loved her too after Euphoria because it was great song, but now I literally want anyone else to win this year's contest because it would be much more fair)
You may be right in thinking that lots of votes last year were placed for non-song reasons. But I disagree that Ukraine's song last year wasn't of winning merit. Regarding Loreen, I hear what you're saying, but I don't think Queen status will push this top the leaderboard. We won't be going to Sweden next year, but maybe close by.
I doubt the majority of Europeans really cares who she is. If she sings well, the performance is captivating and the song is enjoyable, they'll vote for her. And while the song might not be unique, she elevates it by her presence and vocal capabilities.
I mean Ukraine still deserved to win last year - I would say that the 'sympathy' vote got them an even bigger win but I maintain they'd still have won the televote and overall.
Me too, I loved Ukraine last year and I voted for them because I genuinely liked it the most. And I love ukraines entry this year as well. About Loreen, the euro fans around Europe , most of them, we do love Loreen a lot. And because it is her and she can performs like nobody else, a lot of people are just influenced by this love. She is in my top 10, just because it is her performing this song, that I don’t like so much. I would prefer Finland to win, but, if Loreen wins, we can expect a great Eurovision host next year! So let’s see, and have a great show in just two weeks!!!🎉
@@ExistentialDawn there's a song on RUclips here called Shia LaBeuof by Rob Cantor. I highly recommend you check it out! It's kinda old now but it's still very fun to listen to :)
TO be bluntly clear about 2011 and Running Scared... by now almost anyone who really looked into it knows that it DID NOT WIN legitimately. ALiyev, the President For Life, paid off multiple small nation juries and that was the ONLY REASON it managed to beat out Italy's brilliant return number. Azerb. Even ANglicized the singers' names to avoid ... issues with someone named "Nigar". Neutral word in Azeri, but highly problematic for English speakers.
Short version : while all the contestants sing for themselves, she sings for her audience. If she knows she can't give her all she would never climb on scene.
I am not a fan of Eurovision silly contest...but Loreen is another chapter. Real alternative artist with great voice and amazing performance... Euphoria was a great song but Tattoo is another level ... undisputed Winner
I see her as more alternative than mainstream as well. I wonder how one alternative artist gets so much mainstream success, comsidering that alt music isn’t that ultra popular.
Tattoo is just boring. Here, I said it. It’s definitely not a bad song, I wouldn’t turn the radio off, but I wouldn’t listen to it myself either. I don’t even remember how it goes now, despite hearing it literally yesterday. I remember the vocal was brilliant though.
The show is not the X- Factor 😂Loreen is a great artist the song and music & performance was great, it’s insulting people are saying it’s rigged or Finland should of won. If she wasn’t a good singer then fair enough but she is. I’d listen and play euphoria and tattoo on Spotify . I wouldn’t play cha cha at a club or party or in my Spotify You wouldn’t hear cha cha played on the radio either or queen of the kings but they sang well with great performances. It’s a competition so someone’s favourite will lose it happens every year this year is no different. People are too sensitive these days 😅
I am sorry, I don't want to disrespectful to anybody, but I think Eurovision should not allow any previous winner to participate in Eurovision. Loreen had a chance to win 12 years ago, and she did, congratulations. I saw many reactions and ranking during last month, most of them call winner with Loreen not Sweden even in some points in this video. It means they vote for her, not the song. I believe they feel bad to give her low rate just because she is previous winner, and most televoter goes with the idea that she was a winner, she must be good. I believe most of Swedish younger singer who wants to show their talent but they couldn't, are not happy with this choice either. I have heard her a little bit more performances, her voice is all digitized with all equipment around her. I think her participation is effecting every other Eurovision singer, because the rating she is getting is not accurate rating, and base on her previous win, and that shadow covers everybody. Please if you are disagree with me be respectful, and give me your reason that why I am wrong in this matter. Thank you.

Look at any video made with Nordic content and how much interaction it gets. But even if Loreen was unknown and competed for another country she would be a huge favourite for a lot of people. And, my guess, have a better chance of actually winning since people prefer voting for a percieved underdog. She has the voice and the stage presence to win. And without those -any gimmicks, fun or a beautiful song will just be forgotten among the masses.
Why Loreen? First of all say I'm not a fan of Loreen, I don't follow her, I don't go to gigs etc... I only got to know her with Euphoria and then I said, she has to win. Why does Loreen have to win again now? Very simple; the song is a masterpiece, the picture is complete; the act, the visual, the vocals, everything is top notch. She deserves to win again. Norway is also very good. Finland should absolutely not win, that man hardly sings and afterwards it is monotonous with that cha-cha-cha and then just stand silly then? I don't really like that. Give me Loreen's class.
If loreen wins --> Recycling artists, Uncreative things are rewarded. If you want class loreen is not the best choice. France is. Better vocals + More original. Cha Cha Cha doesn't even need to win since it will 100% be the most memorable song this year.
She's soooo overrated. Hope anyone else wins. It's a mistake to say contest was ever a joke and Loreen was the one putting it on the next level. The show is about representing your own culture, so ethnic songs and jams will always have my vote instead of generic electro dance pop such as Euphoria.
Euphoria sounds so dated even for 2012. The staging was nice, but other countries like Ukraine had been doing great stagings for years before Sweden won in 2012.
I think it's super ironic that you're calling out a guy for monetising his video about Loreen ..... while making a two part video on Loreen. Both monetised.
I think there's a misunderstanding here. What Gustaph did was actually PAY Instagram for more people to see his post. And I'm not calling him out, it's a legit promotional strategy. I'm saying it shows the power of Loreen with the hardcore fanbase.
@@overthinkingit yep, and you're doing two videos on Loreen and not anyone else. (Ok maybe Croatia but that's the same video twice). It's still using Loreen's power to give views.

Exactly
I mostly agree, although I would add that Loreen would be a "boring" winner as well. Boring in a sense that the song has been done before and brings nothing new.
Agree
We're the Mario brothers and plumbing's a game
Sorry, but statements was not good. I’m a Swede myself, that’s why it did not reach the final in 2017😅
I’m really sorry for the Eurovision artists and the fan base when it comes to the vocal few who feel the constant need to prove that Tattoo is “overrated” or “overhyped because it’s Loreen”.
North and Southern seas actually works for Loreen, who's of Moroccan origin (and Morocco borders the Mediterranean!)
Please keep her away from the Chinese.
I heard Satellite in a store in Istanbul the summer of 2010 - the joy was great! :D
From Ted gärdestad?
Loreen is an incredibly talented and superb performer with the ability to elevate a mediocre song into something much more powerful. For that I give her credit, and she certainly deserves to do well this year. However I don't think the song is a worthy winner. The charming eccentricities of Finland, Serbia, and Spain feel more refreshing and worthy of recognition to me. I'd much rather see any of them take the trophy.
Well to be a worthy winner you can’t only have orginality, it has to have all the things with it too.
@Aria Anderson Totally agree.
(And then swedish people could drop her from melodifestivalen again.)
If 'taking inspiration' is a must for sweden she could have copied Sting's desert rose and would have gotten my vote. I bet it would be amazing with her.
It would be a pleasant surprise if Loreen lost this year
If you have ears, a heart and soul, you know
I'm going to pause the video at about 9 minutes in to tell you that Glorious is to this day one of my most regularly listened to Eurovision entries, to the point where I don't listen to it in a Eurovision context. As you said, Euphoria as a song? It's alright. As a union of music and performance? Legendary. Glorious as a song? An absolutely fantastic example of its own genre that ages extraordinarily well.
Great comment. People should never apologize for the stuff they love. Speed Racer is one of my favorite movies!
@@overthinkingit I would compare Loreen more to Kate Bush
Glorious and Euphoria have a big difference: the genre. While on one hand Euphoria was a well thought pop song, which was a breath of fresh air to the music industry and to a too gimmicky and silly eurovision, Glorious was the EDM remix that nobody asked for.
Loreen CAN be considered queen of North and Southern seas
She is Swedish (northern sea) with Moroccan ethnicity (southern sea)
she CAN, but she shouldn't.
Alessandra too, living between Norway and Italy (Liguria)

@@rageguy311 you would be surprised, but Russia is actually extremely homogeneous in terms of culture, theres little to no regional variation to what media people consume and so on. There aren't really any dialects even, during the Soviet times everything was forced into one mold.
I tried to explain to my 76 year old mother how big Loreen is in Eurovision and she didn't really get it until I showed her the interview where Mae totally loses it and becomes starstruck because Loreen enters the venue.
You mean this interview? ruclips.net/video/8F87eX6C8qs/видео.html
Never mind streaming…it’s all about the next TikTok hit!
What's next, the return of Ell & Nikki or Conchita?
when he was talking about Bjork and Sia I was just angrily screaming "KATE BUSH"
Stop this narrative! Returning artist are nothing new to ESC. Lena, Rybak, Logan; Carola, Dana etc. It adds to the mix. I love it! If you only want debutants maybe go watch Idol or the Voice instead!

Where did unicorn come from😅
@@tanktheplayer4275 Israel has a catchy song and if she can dance as well as people say... She should do well.
I hope you’re right about bridges.
Cha Cha Cha is not going to be a jury favourite. I think 5th is the best we could expect if not lower with the juries.
Few songs bring tears to my eyes by just listening to. Euphoria is one of them.
ahahaha the running scared roast was -- unlike the song itself -- peak
The song "Tattoo" is not bad per se, but compared to "Euphoria" it falls a bit flat. Loreen is for sure a good performer, but I'm really interested in how Käärijä who is the runner-up is gonna place.
Loreen. Omg. I love her so much!!! 🇸🇪❤️
10:05 Not 25, but 26 countries*
@@evipevi1973 It’s the backing tune before she starts singing that is giving me Kevin and Perry vibes ( if you’ve seen the film ) you will know where I’m coming from…
Well now she’s 2nd in the uk spotify charts she’s worth the hype
Euphoria was good. Honestly, when I heard Tattoo I forgot it right after. I think it’s dull. Loreen is a good singer

I love this thesis!
You've articulated exactly what I've been saying since I saw Loreen perform Tattoo in Melodifestivalen. Loreen elevates whatever she sings and performs into something truly special, and that's the strength of Euphoria in 2012 and Tattoo now.
10:08 I hope that wasn't a dig at Cezar! That was one of the most amazing performances we've seen in 70 years!
@@overthinkingit Ah okay I must have misheard that. Love the videos though!
GREAT analysis
And now the irony is that "Tattoo" is being accused of plagiarism as well.
Every song 2023 is worse than Euphoria.
HEY! Cezar is a treasure! And his pipes are impressive!
Jeez
Honestly? If she competed with Statements and not Tattoo I would 100% vote for her.
she tried, too late now
0:30 Clearly Cleopatra was missing here as well as Hatshepsut
You are wrong, i dont think that many people thinks Loreen is interesting again, she had her victory that time, now she is doing a Cascada and copying Loreen. Great channel by the way, you make Eurovision much more interesting then it really is 😁
Basically in Italy nobody cared about eurovision. It was considered an outdated show with terribly dressed singers performing cheesy and horrible songs. After Loreen's won with a contemporary and classy song, Italians started appreciating eurovision
Laughing out loud, stuck on a parade float love it!
I will not rest until "to have the chutzpah to go the full Björk" (my new favorite phrase in the English language) is a dictionary entry.
Liverpool is north of Baku. Alessandra isn't wrong.
Regarding the seas maybe there‘s a Quaithe thing going on. To go north you must journey south. To reach the west you must go east.
You make so intelligent content! Can't wait for the follow up. But meanwhile I'll look at other "Overthinking It". 👌🏽🤗👋🏽💋✊🏽
I really want us to win ❤️🇸🇪
I still think Finland will win this time, even with the Loreen effect….

@@Bandido894 Hola Bandido. Mi inglés no es nativo, ¿preguntas porque no entendías qué quería decir? I meant in spite of Loreen being so beloved and having a good song. Just a feeling, we all know in Eurovision, you never know what might happen.

Still bitter about Statements 😢That would have felt to me like artistic progression for Loreen. Tattoo feels stagnant in comparison.
I really think out of all these reasons and not because of her mediocre mid pop ballad "Tattoo"...
yes exactly this and seeing how the same could be said about Käärijä being awarm person and has the better song I still believe he's going to win
@@MsMeyara I don't think he will, he will get a super good result in the televote, but I think, or better I expect that the most juries will ignore him or wil just give him 1-2 points just because the public lines him so much.
Thank you.

Will you marry me? This is the most on point comment on RUclips!❤
She's soooo overrated. Hope anyone else wins.
It's a mistake to say contest was ever a joke and Loreen was the one putting it on the next level.
The show is about representing your own culture, so ethnic songs and jams will always have my vote instead of generic electro dance pop such as Euphoria.
NO.... she´s not going to win....
she shouldn't
Well she won
@@allaboutanime2617 yea but it was the most rigged eurovision ever. even more rigged than last years. KÄÄRIJÄ FOREVER!
Mika Newton did it better 🎉
Agree
Euphoria sounds so dated even for 2012. The staging was nice, but other countries like Ukraine had been doing great stagings for years before Sweden won in 2012.
I actually did expect to get dragged in the comments for saying Euphoria is nothing special but everyone is just nodding.
Loreen is just the best🇸🇪❤️
I'm just going to say it. Loreen's "dancing" is super cringe. Writhing on the floor is not real dance.
Correct! We're also doing her last for the same reason. But the thing that confuses me is that you think there's any "calling out" here, like we think what Gustaph is doing is wrong or shameful. We didn't say anything like that! We are also not ashamed of trying to make a few obvious choices to get people to watch the channel like covering stuff people are interested in.
It reminds me of when we posted the Rosa Linn video and a bunch of people were like, "Her success isn't genuine because she paid to promote that song on Tiktok," as if marketing is cheating or something, as if every single artist doesn't have a record label for the same reason. Everyone's out here hustling for eyeballs, from Taylor Swift on down. Don't hate the players, hate the exploitative system of late stage capital that we're all buried alive under.
Great singer
Great performance
Eurovision royalty
However the song is average and there’s far better songs this year.
She’ll probably win but it won’t be because she has the best song.
