I met this dude once, and commented on his watch. I wanna say he was wearing a Patek. He was really nice and took a moment to talk his watches with me. Really nice dude, not arrogant or obnoxious at all.
Guys, I think we need an official petition to get a talking watches episode with Ben talking about his collection. We love your work, your interview style and your knowledge of watches, Ben. Time to step up and give your fans what we want!!
It's not tasteless, or uninteresting. I think the point of these videos is to highlight that different collectors are into different watches. This man just has a different taste and a different outlook on watches. I loved this one the same way I loved the others!
What we do when we've been in the addiction for a decade or more... Five $100 pieces = 1 $500 swiss entry level Hamilton khaki king Then 18k Universal Geneve Polerouter Date for $2000 Then $3900 Tudor Black Bay Steel Then $1700 Ball Engineer Marvalight II Then bam $20,000 Vacheron Constantine in 18k I'm 8 years deep. Was rocking an Invicta for 4 years... Gotten more serious in the last 4 years. Same concept.
The diamonds on that AP look amazing ! In my opinion thats how a diamond watch is supposed to look. Its classy and elegant and not tacky like most out there
Never thought I'd see someone refer to an Audemars Piguet tourbillon as an "everyday watch." I always imagined that pieces like that would just sit in a safe most of the time; great to see that some people aren't afraid to use them as they were meant to be used!
"Talking Watches" is the absolute best horology feed there is...it captures the emotion and community of watch collectors and stirs the hearts of would-be collectors!! Can't tell you how much I look forward to these. You've dine a super job keeping it diverse, funny, interesting and informative. Love love love your videos. Not on that Patel level yet, but since I've started following Hodinkee, I've bought Rolex and a Panerai...working towards the holy grail!!
Absolutely amazing collection. I have to say, probably one of my favourite celebrity collections. The fact that he knows and was looking for a Patek Skymoon is a statement in itself. He's really looking at some amazing collectors pieces.
+Benedict San Diego he actually has good tastes compared to other artists who walk around with 18 k yellow gold diamond studded bs watches that they buy just because they can. If I was making that kind of money I would be doing the same thing collecting Patek, AP, FP Journe, etc. I would also be collecting old Omegas just because I love them more specifically the early Railmasters.
+bassplayer2011ify Most real collectors I know collect Rolex, Omega, Patek, Jaeger lecoultre and other conservative brands. I myself don't have a Patek and Jaeger, but I would like to have one someday; but I think i'll never get an AP sports watch, too oversized and funky for me. I too love the Railmasters, Really simplistic and traditional.
This is my favorite episode. Completely different style than any of the old boys club collectors we usually see interviewed. This episode depicts a serious collector without the same old redundant white man. @Hodinkee, you need to showcase some more of these less traditional watch collectors. Easy way to expand your target market.
According to the US Department of Justice, Prazazrel “Pras” Michel was yesterday (May 10) hit with a four-count indictment that charges him with “conspiracy to defraud the United States government and for making foreign and conduit campaign contributions,” as well as “one count of a scheme to conceal material facts and two counts of making a false entry in a record in connection with the conspiracy.” WHITE MAN
The stark contract in the comments between this and John Mayer absolutely hilarious and we know why that is you people should be ashamed but then again that’s how you naturally are I guess
I have a few hobbies and I collect quite a few things including cameras, watches and pens and i must say that the most OG collectors I've met have always come off as the most humble and nerdy and they surprisingly dress like us regular people. Their knowledge and enthusiasm speaks for them.
Have you guys noticed how Javier keeps bombing the feed with negative comments. What I love about taking watches is that it show cases all different types of watches, collectors... It opens up the watch universe to everyone no matter your taste or opinion.
Hello Matt. This is not that kind of channel where people are looking for fight or some kind of confrontation so please don't say my name and trying to put me down. All I did was to give my opinion and made two comments about what I felt about the poor content of the video. This channel is probably the best in RUclips about vintage watches and Horology. I didn't bombarded with negative comments but I have to say I'm not surprise to see a big number of negative comments in this video.
lucas santoro lol fair, but it's the exception that proves the rule if only 1 of his 40 has diamonds...he's also pointing out that it's not a yellow gold Rolex with diamond dial, diamond bezel, and diamond bracelet, so in the situations he wears it- it would be relatively understated.
Brother, you nailed it at 8:45. That’s describes me to a tee! My collection consists of low level Japanese and Swiss automatics however, the passion is still there. Beautiful collection. You’ve earned it my friend. God Bless You. May you get your grail piece.
I miss the first watch I owned. I wish I kept it, because it started an obsession for watches that rages on 30 years later. It was a Thomas the Tank Engine watch that became a yo-yo. I’ll miss you Tom 😭
Haha this didn’t age well! Shows the bad and very dark side of watch collecting. I think I really enjoyed this interview at the time but right now I realize that he actually doesn’t care about the watches themselves that much as he talks about them like they were Seikos and Swatches. Recent events have put this collection in a completely different light.
Oh my God he did not let you hold his watch......wow freak'in people! It was a good episode case closed! Freak'in watch lovers need to respect the level he is on. They are his watches......wtf I'm sure Ben never gave it a second thought, unlike a few below!
i don't got the money to buy those watches.. but i can understand this guy perfectly because i got the same taste.. respect others taste as well of course
TheFinalApproach what do you mean, all of them do that, every single interviewee takes their watch from him as soon as he picks it up. Haha... I think it's just subconscious for most people. When people comment on my watch I will actually take it off and let them hold it, if I know them, and let them experience it, but then Again I don't own a 24k or better piece either. None of my pieces cost more than 5k, maybe one day.
I would never have thought after all this time he would still have so much money. Most rappers from his time would be selling their watches to survive. Must be a good business man
This is not tasteless. In my eyes, absolutely the best thing about watches are the many different styles, colors, movements, sizes and price-categories. That means that regardless of what your preference in style or particular interest in watches is, there is something out there for everybody. Instead of calling it tasteless, embrace and accept that our differences in style, culture and individual preference is what makes it interesting. Would you really be more entertained if they all whipped out vintage Subs? On a sidenote I think rosegold looks a lot better with his skintone than stainless steel.
Gnarly Flies he's swimming in Richard Milles and Pateks. Think I read John Mayer got him interested in watches and he basically couldn't figure out how to spend the telephone numbers he was making every week. Then he found mega watches and he's now got something to chase.
Just boring watches someone told him he should have. I'd rather he find some obscure old guy with an interesting selection rather than a celeb with a pile of expensive crap.

"I had about close to 180 watches, then I started to get really serious..." Dude what?
I think by this he meant he narrowed his taste down. Instead of just buying a ton of stuff, he became more discerning about what he liked personally
What we do when we've been in the addiction for a decade or more...

he means he had alot of boring watches ⌚️ and started recognizing the grails are a better investment.

The diamonds on that AP look amazing ! In my opinion thats how a diamond watch is supposed to look. Its classy and elegant and not tacky like most out there
Imagine being his friend and one day he be like "Yo, take this Breguet, you need a nice watch" :)
U would be in the feds if u accepted it he would’ve snitched on u
Ok so when do we get Mr. Eric Clapton?
Christmas edition :))
Dream. Come. True.
+1
"They don't care if you Jesus Christ! You have to wait!" Simply brilliant.
Never thought I'd see someone refer to an Audemars Piguet tourbillon as an "everyday watch." I always imagined that pieces like that would just sit in a safe most of the time; great to see that some people aren't afraid to use them as they were meant to be used!

Great start brother I started with Cartier, Rolex , Breitling. I'm looking forward to the future with a lange sohne. Cheers happy holidays
Completely agree. It makes my day every time a new episode comes out.
Check out monochrome-watches.com
I enjoyed this episode. Glad to see diversity in the watch-collecting world, and by that I mean diversity in taste.
Absolutely amazing collection. I have to say, probably one of my favourite celebrity collections. The fact that he knows and was looking for a Patek Skymoon is a statement in itself. He's really looking at some amazing collectors pieces.
Stop saying that this guy have a bad taste in watches.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
let the guy wear his watch.
*has

Pras passion for watches is palpable! Ben, congratulations on yet another excellent video.
This is crazy knowing he had to sell these for being a Informant 😅
this is the best one of the series that I have seen so far

WHITE MAN
Redundant white man? Who made those watches?
Great to see the diversity in all the great collections in this series. Great job, Ben.
Best episode yet!! You did it right this time Ben
He likes what he likes. Another cool episode.
One of the best episodes. Selection of guests is just awesome!
I love this man lol! the score was one of my childhood albums here in the u.k, he has great taste too!
This guy seems like hes really cool and laid back
The stark contract in the comments between this and John Mayer absolutely hilarious and we know why that is you people should be ashamed but then again that’s how you naturally are I guess
lolol u already know and i like how you made your statement lowkey haha
He gave most of his collection away, dam I wish he was my friend!
One of my fav episodes!! Great collection Pras. Great Interview Ben!
+Xavier Darden Im still trying to catch up to your level Nupe..
I just got a new one
Kodak 1911 this is what I'm talking about brothers in the bond that love watches! Yoooo!
I love 'Talking watches', thanks for another good episode.
What he is saying in the last minute of the video is awesome!
For platinum skeleton royal oak to be a first watch purchase says a lot about the richness and taste of this man. 💯
Lol
Good choice in dream watch! The Sky-Moon is gorgeous!
I have a few hobbies and I collect quite a few things including cameras, watches and pens and i must say that the most OG collectors I've met have always come off as the most humble and nerdy and they surprisingly dress like us regular people. Their knowledge and enthusiasm speaks for them.

pls do a show with ARCHIELUXURY !!
Are you serious? The guy needed a partner to buy a Navitimer...
I winder how this video is going to age?
What the actual fuck are you talking about? This guy has awesome taste. Amazing collection. Keep it up
Damn, now we know 😂
"Im not really a diamonds guy." **Insert giant watch absolutely covered in diamonds**
lucas santoro lol fair, but it's the exception that proves the rule if only 1 of his 40 has diamonds...he's also pointing out that it's not a yellow gold Rolex with diamond dial, diamond bezel, and diamond bracelet, so in the situations he wears it- it would be relatively understated.
lmao i thought exactly
Plus, he said he has only worn it two or three times just for fun. Haters gonna hate.
In an ironic way, maybe 😁
lucas santoro ahahhahah
I love it how Pras says to Ben: "I'm sure you can relate to this..." .... seriously?
Of course... all serious watch guys can relate ! This hobby transcends many barriers
this is just the best episode from all.
Best episode of the series....congrats

Amazing, to be honest I think this is one of the best ones yet in this series.
Wow, love this vid!! What a cool guy!!
Haha this didn’t age well! Shows the bad and very dark side of watch collecting. "The salesperson realized...my taste!"
Pras has good taste!
love Pras taste for watch. He goes with automatic watches.Already he owns watch collector list.
That Collection Is Fantastic
It’s crazy looking back from then to now, and this guy has been charged with money laundering, and other financial fraud charges.
i have a new found respect for Pras after watching this video.
So when you started using stolen funds from Jho Low you started buying more expensive watches? Got it
Oooch, good one!!
Really loved this one!
Very awesome collection!
Another great episode. I like the diversity of the cast: athletes, musicians and now diversity in skin color. Keep it up.
Sick collection, exquisite collection. Glad that at least one artist has transcended the ‘more money than sense’ trap.
AP rosesgold tourbillion.
*Pras - you can wear it, you know, after 6 or with jeans.
Great video, great interview, great watches!!!
I think this was a genuinely great collection, good taste. on the second one he lost control a little bit
Would love too know if pras got the skymoon !!
He did
@@UnCleT215 how do you know?
View From Venice because he did 3 of these and he has it in the next one
UnCleT215 he’s lucky! I met him when he came to the PP headquarters a couple years ago in nyc
@@viewfromvenice2912 his collection is pretty amazing..
Enjoyed this interview, but when he told the sheikh “I don’t care if you are Jesus Christ” - priceless!
Oh my God he did not let you hold his watch......wow freak'in people! It was a good episode case closed! Freak'in watch lovers need to respect the level he is on. They are his watches......wtf I'm sure Ben never gave it a second thought, unlike a few below!
Ben I absolutely love these videos. Keep up the good work!
He didnt have a chance to talk about his rose gold Nautilus =[
Love this one
If a person says he wants to buy a sky moon then this person has good taste
he's a mainstream collector... the real ones, the really really rare good watches had john goldberger and alfredo paramico!
I love this collection its trully hot.
good taste.
good for you Pras..
Great collection. Love the AP
Patek 10 day.....I would wear that one every day and let the rest of it sit in the vault. Beautiful piece.
Here after his conviction.
Pras is a Classy watch collector, well done!
Incredible taste in watches
i don't got the money to buy those watches.. but i can understand this guy perfectly because i got the same taste.. respect others taste as well of course
Loved this one!! Very funny and not so serious.
What?!? A talking watches without Rolex?!? Lol Great video!
Not the best episode. Pras didnt even let you hold the watches he kept taking them out of your hand.
+David GT_Aventus Black people are used to people stealing their shit.
TheFinalApproach what do you mean, all of them do that, every single interviewee takes their watch from him as soon as he picks it up. Haha... I think it's just subconscious for most people. love it
Love this one.

What are those sunglasses?

My man, do one with Ed Sheeran. He got some serious watches and I think its gonna be very interesting, cheers

Talking watches with Ben Clymer next!!!! :)

He couldn't have explained better what wearing an amazing watch means like!
Great interview
Cool thing about Talking Watches is it says more about the person than the watches itself. If you know what I mean.
.....I love it
He seems pretty cool, not similar taste but hey, he has a great collection!
Pras gets it for sure.
Great episode but the audio SUCKS!
Great interview!
That part “they don’t care if you Jesus Christ! You have. To. Wait!” Gets me every time
So is the whole Sky Moon story one of the scenes from Billion Dollar Whale? Was his buddy Jho Low? Hmmm.
This is definitely top 3 up there with John Mayor and Jean-Claude Biver
Rashad goldberger ftw
Dubai story made me LOL....They don't care if you are JC
Awesome video.
Guy knows his stuff!
This is the first TW vid that has made me go, "ah, so it's not just me?!"
What was the watch he mentioned that is one million?
Patek Philippe Skymoon.
