  • A magnificent hat-trick from a devastating Lar Corbett denied Kilkenny their Drive for 5 and powered Tipperary to an emphatic 4-17 to 1-18 victory in an outstanding All-Ireland final at Croke Park.
    Corbett's three goals -- supplemented by an extraordinary and immaculate performance by Eoin Kelly from frees -- were the difference as Kilkenny, without Henry Shefflin who lasted just 13 minutes, struggled to cope with the Premier's awesome firepower.
    The third, at the death of injury time, put a gloss on the scoreboard that Tipperary perhaps deserved. For all of Kilkenny's tenacity and heart, they were simply second best to a Premier side that deserved their revenge for their defeat in last year's decider.

    Beats me too. Vincent Hogan put it so well. He said that it seemed Lar had taken a vow of poverty. If he has he'd better renounce it quickly or some of us Tipp fans will take a vow of murder. Seriously though, if we get the cats in the semi final the sight of that black and amber jersey may bring out the best in him. After all he has a score to settle with them after being held scoreless last year.

      looking back on that final was incredible how going into it pretty much everyone not from Tipperary wrote them off didn't think they stood a chance not only did they beat Kilkenny but they Hammered them in all 3 finals over that decade that they won 2010,2016,2019

    ....And that's how its done! 😉 Great teamwork..commitment...great comrades in battle. But nothing of this possible without the hard training all year...the background team.. The super Tipp fans...and oh yeah...pure skill ! In fairness and I don't think I'm wrong...Tipp can go out strong n fit etc and play their hearts out without any dirt. Unlike the stripes who are known for..... both on and off the ball ...dangerous digs. Not talking handbag stuff either. You just saw a hurl thrown by a little hothead. You don't see that very often. He should have got the line for that.
    Tipp did it again this year. #Pure class. Enjoy your well deserved holiday lads!! Not forgetting the upcoming team either. #Tipp No.1👍

    Now that the Munster final has been put to bed, we can concentrate on whoever we get in the semi final. As you say, it will probably be the cats. Lar is overdoing the handpasses though. He could have got at least 2 or 3 points himself today. Hopefully he does, next day out. The 7 point winning margin was a bit flattering today but the main thing for now is we have our 40th Munster title. Bring on them cats or whoever beats them.

    Problem now is that if we play the Stripey Men at all, it will more than likely be in the semi final, provided we overcome the Deise this coming Sunday. And no sane individual would seriously annticipate a repeat of the 7 goal drubbing we gave them last year. That was a freak result which ultimately did neither team any favours. Personally I'll be happy with a 1 point win to retain Munster. One game at a time as they say.

    Yes I agree , I don't think that loss to Galway is ''the end of Kilkenny' as some people say , In my opinion , They will comeback much more stronger and much more determined now after what happened on Sunday

    So now it's us and them bloody cats in the semi final. No excuses as this time it's winner takes all. Yes they've lost Richie Hogan because he got himself sent off, just like Benny Dunne did in 2009. To be fair to them though, I don't think they'll use that as an excuse if they lose. The road for both teams to this stage has been rocky to say the least. The winners of this match should take Liam as they did in 58, 02 and 03 though Cork and Galway may have something to say about that. Action.....

  • @seamusmccarthy8204
    @seamusmccarthy8204 12 лет назад

    Maybe so but they got a very dubious penalty the previous year which Henry buried and the whole game turned on it. Plus we couldn't put away any of our goal chances in 09. We even got PJ Ryan his all star award for that. It's called swings and roundabouts and it's an intregal part of sport. This year the cats look unstoppable. Famous last words maybe?

  • @seamusmccarthy8204
    @seamusmccarthy8204 12 лет назад

    I suppose we shouldn't really be talking about the cats on this page but Galway fairly skinned them last Sunday. But so did Dublin in the league final of 2011 and we both know how they recovered from that. We ourselves were skinned by the rebels in 2010 but we came back and won Liam. Last Sunday was a rare day when nothing went right for the cats but everything Galway touched turned to gold. Days like that are very rare and you write off these stripey tyrants at your peril. Beware "les chats"

    I had a bird's eye view of the first of those 3 goals. Perfect way to skin them bloody cats. Yes they got revenge last year but we stopped em getting a 5 in a row. That was special. Their previous championship defeat in 2005 also featured a hat trick from Niall Healy of Galway. Much as it galls a Tipp man like me to admit it, it seems nothing less than an individual hat trick is good enough to beat these stripey bastards. That's how good they are.

    • @h.l.phillips3175
      @h.l.phillips3175 4 года назад

      I disagree. A team is only as good as their form on season. Kilkenny used to molopise.
      Tipperary have put them FIRMLY back in their box...opening up the way for more teams...more variety...more confidence in the game itself. Had got rather boring for a lot of people.
      Now all counties must be looking at Tipps ability to triumph. You're only as good as your last game n hyping up egos that are already overinflated...meaow..maybe isinintbhelpful to the game overall.
      There are many lessons to be learned ...not just in the actual skill. The backroom trio in the Tipp camp work as hard as any player...A lot more involved and I must compliment the genuineness..... When they're interviewed after a game...They delight naturally in a win but are also gracious in defeat. The mark of a real hero! (Kilkenny take note on that ...u might look back n see the handshake offered by a Tipp player arrogantly shrugged off..? That's not sportsman like.

    Dead right , I don't know about you but i found myself roaring abuse at Lar for those silly handpasses , It's almost like he wants to give the ball anyway when ever he ges it and at times today , he handpassed it to one of his team-mates when his team-mate was surrounded by Waterford defenders ? Why couldn't Lar just go for goal when he was in that situation?? Beats me.

      Retarded comment, the rest couldn't come within 15 points of that Kilkenny team who were far from a beatin docket in 2010!! Limerick,waterford, cork, wexford and galway all got the shits taking on that Kilkenny team....but not Tipperary!!.....Tipperarys history is different, they bow to nobody regardless if its sport or not!! They beat kilkenny in 14 all ireland finals including a 45 year unbeaten run against the Cats in championship hurling. The younger killkenny supporters could never understand that....why they never had the psychological edge over Tipp that they enjoyed over the rest.
