That's a masterpiece for you bro. Back when music was written with passion, with heart, soul and meaning! Those were the days...today although there are some good music but everything seems superficial, cold, after 2-3 years no one remembers a song. Instead these old songs will be remembered forevaaaaa
That's because you don't listen to real artists today. If you truly believe that people who can make masterpieces stopped being born after the 90s instead of realizing that's just your music taste then you're naive. It's correct that some pop music today is more superficial and just quick bucks, but there are still real artists today who make masterpieces and some of them are also doing pop, you just need to dig a bit. The influences are there and todays musicians are as influenced by the older generations as much as you
This was by far the most awesome thing I ever saw live. Axl playing November Rain on a white grand piano with one of my best friends who is no longer with us. What a memory. And we would drive around singing Patience, Sweet Child O Mine and all the songs on Lies. Having the time of our life. Rest in Peace Brandon. I miss you.
"I know it's hard to keep an open heart, when even friends seem out to harm you..." One of the best songs of all time... Your exactly right on Axl's voice.. something that unique needed to be heard by millions, so God made sure it happened (another unique voice that's very cool is Macy Gray, esp the song "I try")
My mom is a GNR super fan. She’s been to dozens of shows, met all the members, and is now close friends with slash’s son. She has a whole room of signed memorabilia. Posters, picks, a microphone signed by Axl, an Epiphone Les Paul signed by Slash. I’m working on getting a couple Slash Gibsons. One for her and one for me, I’m still learning to play. I’m glad to have grown up listening to GNR. 🤘
My husband and I grew up with Guns n Roses on the radio. When November Rain came out we were actually in the final days of our sons life and he died in October of that year. When you mentioned a religious aspect to this song and the band, that's what we felt from them and this song. It was so moving to us that we had wanted to play it during his funeral but decided at the last minute not to. To this day whenever we hear November Rain we stop what we're doing, look at each other, and acknowledge our son, God, and each other. Our 34th wedding anniversary is this June. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and finding this song. ❤️
Really appreciate your in depth reaction to this classic, masterpiece of a song. I have to give you huge props for noticing the look on the bride's face. I haven't seen anyone else catch that. This song is based on a short story, which is what it said at the end that got blocked off. In the story, the bride commits suicide after the wedding. The songs lyrics, if you think about them long and hard talk of a person who is battling some demons. Maybe they both are. I think he is trying to convince her and himself that life can be good. Her death puts him in a place of self medicating (start of the video) and nightmares (end). It's quite heavy. I really loved your analogy of the reason for the music switch up at the end. I think you were spot on. For sure, all the rain references in the video and lyrics also have to do with the darkness, chaos and anxiety of her death. Deep stuff.
If you look at the inside of the coffin you’ll see that it has a mirror, which is a technique used when dealing with victims of head trauma like a gunshot, so suicide is not out of the question as to the reason why she died
I'm so happy you enjoyed this song. It really got me through hard moments in life and continues to be my top 3 favorite songs of all time. Plus the greatest guitar solo of all time.
I see all the comments and i don't understand how nobody is recommending You Could Be Mine....i just don't get it!!? If you check on RUclips you'll see that nobody reacted to that song and it's a masterpiece.
As G'n'R songs go Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine and Civil War should probably be added to your eventual to-do list. these guys are pretty awesome.
My older sister would watch MTV way back with her friends just waiting for this to come on and had a VHS ready to record. She gave me one as a gift and I think I wore out the tape lol
@@lildex9468 oh I'm not. Being right makes me feel good not stressed. You should be the one stressed, not knowing anything about guitarists and all. Feel bad for ya.
This was a bit of a departure from their 'bread & butter' hard rock sound. This does prove that these guys were actually very good musicians - Axl Rose (vocals, piano), Duff McKagan (Seattle born & bred on bass) & Slash (guitar) in particular. Slash's solos are sheer brilliance in my opinion. Arguably his best work within GNR full stop. The arrangement is terrific and the strings were a stroke of utter genius. This is my personal favourite GNR song.
I cannot think of a guitarist who's solos fit the songs as well as Slash's. It's almost like listening to an additional verse. They always had a bit of a grove to them and it didn't have that feel of showing off that a lot of the lead guitarists had back then.
I am pretty new to your channel but I already love it. I can tell you are a very intelligent young man and your passion is infectious . Keep up the awesomeness.
I'm telling you this video was sooooo deep... Notice how when it's a happy time (the wedding) the church is packed, but when he's going through heartbreak (the funeral) there's very few there comparatively... Man is that a comment on how life is!!
Its a 3 part song. November Rain is part 2. Part 1 is Dont Cry and Part 3 is Estranged. These songs are based on a short story called "Without You". November Rain was one of the most expensive music video.
Well, to be perfectly accurate, the songs aren't actually connected, nor are they in themselves based on Without You. Don't Cry and November Rain were both actually written shortly after the band got together, before Del James wrote Without You. There was actually a version of Don't Cry that was recorded in the Appetite sessions, which (obviously) didn't make it on the final cut of that album. Estranged, meanwhile, was written about Axl's relationship with Erin Everly falling apart. The video for November Rain was heavily inspired by Without You, the videos for Don't Cry and Estranged not so much. The video for Don't Cry was more based on the mental health issues Axl had been going through and the collapse of his relationship with Erin. The video for Estranged was more based on the collapse of his relationship with Stephanie Seymour and his wish to get himself in a better mental health state. The three songs and the three videos are not an interconnected whole in the same way that, for example, Pink Floyd's The Wall was. Rather, they are only considered a trilogy because they were three videos that were produced with cinematic production values and told compelling stories. Also, it's worth noting that Estranged was not originally going to be the third; the plan had originally been to shoot a video for Coma and have that be the third video of the so-called trilogy, but the plan changed after Axl and Stephanie broke up (incidentally, the plan would have also had Stephanie serving as a common factor in the videos, as the plan was for her to have a central role in the video for Coma as well).

You are reviewing one of the most iconic rock band of the 80's of course you will love them 😂 fun fact : rock music is the most emotional and deep kind of vibration you will ever hear, it runs in the vein and makes your heart beat, that's why rock will never die. I still remember, 11 years ago, coming back from school with so much excitement, just so that I can hear this song after so many hours of boredom. Those were the good days and it's 11 years already with this song. More to more, feel like time has gone so fast, and listening to this reminds me of Childhood memories, when everything was fresh as the bright blue sky. 🙂🙃
Did you know the Axl Rose locked himself in his studio for weeks to create all these songs? It was a nearly obsessive drive to create these master pieces. Your comment of being on this world for a purpose made the think of that detail. By the way, this son is part of a trilogy: "November rain". "Don't cry" and "Estranged"... @LFR JOJ also check out these gems: "COMA" or "Dead horse." Laslty, a cool way to compare their early days and the last stuff before they broke up are these two (cover) songs: "Nice boys ( don't play rock n roll)" ( album: Lies) and "Down on the farm" ( Album The Spagetti Incident) Those two rock like hell. Let me know what you think:)
God has his hands on you son. Keep up the good work. You're on such a higher level than your peers surrender your ego guys and you can be as clean as this young man. He's a beautiful soul. Absolutely raised right.

@@joshjenner9486 Not gonna argue with that. I was only saying they are similar in being emotional guitarists, and none of them need to show off. Slash is better technically though.
@@Fnelrbnef yeah I understand they both have a minimalist approach to guitar. But slash does have plenty of crazy shred songs and solos too🤣I haven't rly ever seen Gilmour let the brakes off and go crazy like Slash does, he always feels a bit more restrained? Idk I haven't listened to anywhere near as much Pink Floyd as I have GNR/VR/Slash though so I'm not hugely educated on Gilmour
"They got a billion views for something ".... that something is Slash's solo in front of the church. A few thousand of those views were me,lol
Only my favorite song ever since I was 11... I'm almost 41.
Hell yeah!
@Leo Howse you're awesome! My son is 23 and I'm the reason he hates this song,lol... he's heard it a few times.
Same here 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Yes!! I used to hate when they would play the shortened version of this song…
Same age, same feelings about the song. It’s the perfect song
30 years later and this video has stood the test of time. Watching it, they look and feel just as badass today as they did then. This was my favorite reaction so far! So genuine. 🤘🏻
Who is this guy?
Well my good sir, this is perhaps one of the greatest guitarists to ever live. SLASH.
Slash is one the best guitarist of all time . Back in the day when Rock bands would have guitar solos
"Who is this guy?" That my friend, Is an Alien that came to Earth to teach people how to play a gig.
Lol. Love this!
"In a world that he did not create, but he'd go through it as if it was his own makin'. Half-man, half-beast, I'm not sure what it is, but whatever it is, it's weird and it's pissed-off, and it calls himself Slash."
Best Axl introduction of Slash back in 1988...
Passing along the legends to the next generation. I’m loving it! Carry on young man! You make me SMILE 😊
That's a masterpiece for you bro. Back when music was written with passion, with heart, soul and meaning! Those were the days...today although there are some good music but everything seems superficial, cold, after 2-3 years no one remembers a song. Instead these old songs will be remembered forevaaaaa
Absolutely well put GnR forever
That's because you don't listen to real artists today. If you truly believe that people who can make masterpieces stopped being born after the 90s instead of realizing that's just your music taste then you're naive. It's correct that some pop music today is more superficial and just quick bucks, but there are still real artists today who make masterpieces and some of them are also doing pop, you just need to dig a bit. The influences are there and todays musicians are as influenced by the older generations as much as you
agreed
very true
@@acezaro7927 Thank you for your comment. Now I don't have to make it.
I miss you.
"I know it's hard to keep an open heart, when even friends seem out to harm you..."
One of the best songs of all time...
Your exactly right on Axl's voice.. something that unique needed to be heard by millions, so God made sure it happened (another unique voice that's very cool is Macy Gray, esp the song "I try")
"Who is this guy, He's good"!
* me waiting for Slash to walk on top of the piano* :)
You should hear the long note he holds in the song Don't Cry.
He actually should to hear whole the song
yup that freaking true that song was lit
Yep, I like that one and cival war too.
Uuuu best of best
How is it that Slash isn’t recognizable by literally everyone in the civilized world anymore?
because of new artists advertising
My mom is a GNR super fan. She’s been to dozens of shows, met all the members, and is now close friends with slash’s son. She has a whole room of signed memorabilia. Posters, picks, a microphone signed by Axl, an Epiphone Les Paul signed by Slash. I’m working on getting a couple Slash Gibsons. One for her and one for me, I’m still learning to play. I’m glad to have grown up listening to GNR. 🤘
"This guy" is just one of the best guitarist ever, SLASH
Oh my goodness! You are so fun to watch! You getting "swept up" by the emotion of the music , is like watching the power of music in action!! ❤💥✌
Deep stuff.
Thank you!! You are one of the few who get it. Thumbs up! 👍
I always got the vibe that she actually wanted" Slash" in the video but since she was with "Axl" she felt stuck 🤷
@@bethshadid2087 I have never read the short story, but I don't think it has anything to do with that.
Probably one of the best music videos ever. I remember seeing it for the first time back in the 90s. Blew my mind. Just fantastic artistry.
This was the first song released before the invention of RUclips to get 1 Billion views on RUclips.
Really? I thought it would be teen spirit of bohemian
All 3 of them are awesome though
I see all the comments and i don't understand how nobody is recommending You Could Be Mine....i just don't get it!!?
If you check on RUclips you'll see that nobody reacted to that song and it's a masterpiece.
One of the best! Absolutely agree with you
Yeah bro, it's like their forgotten hits..
@@miskandar4368 Not really, it was on T2 ffs! Always on the radio, how is that forgotten?

“Who is this guy, he sounds good?” Hahaha. Hilarious
Axel Rose, is one of the best vocalists to ever grace a stage. PERIOD!! GNR= LEGENDARY!

As G'n'R songs go Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine and Civil War should probably be added to your eventual to-do list. these guys are pretty awesome.
"Sweet Child of Mine" has a legendary guitar riff!
Oh yeah
Sucks
Duh
I prefer Anastasia by Slash
Nothing compared to the end solo of November Rain though.
as a metalhead who loves rap too, I love the diversity and openness. Good Vibes bro!
Bro, You deserve a lot of success, I love the way you react and analysis the lyrics
My older sister would watch MTV way back with her friends just waiting for this to come on and had a VHS ready to record. She gave me one as a gift and I think I wore out the tape lol

ESTRANGED
And YES u were spot on about AXL ROSE being called by God to sing and do music...
Yes! Estranged is so overlooked!
Estranged is my favorite GnR song EVER!!
Yeah pretty much, he leaned to sing this amazing as a kid in the church.
Amazing solos
the baddest rock band of all time
Seeing a younger person get so much enjoyment discovering this music makes me so happy 😊
When you see Slash walking out on the open field, you know what is going to happen
@BossMcHogg He was. Too bad he gets overlooked.
I cannot think of a guitarist who's solos fit the songs as well as Slash's. It's almost like listening to an additional verse. They always had a bit of a grove to them and it didn't have that feel of showing off that a lot of the lead guitarists had back then.
"Whoever this guy is, he good in the guitar"
>>bruh, he's god mode
I am pretty new to your channel but I already love it. I can tell you are a very intelligent young man and your passion is infectious . Keep up the awesomeness.
He has a very unique maturity, doesn't he?
The ending part of the song makes me levitate.. This is definitely the best song ive ever heard in my life
80’s rock was the closest we ever came to world peace
People who know the song and know what’s about to go down when slash walks out the church 🔥
I am on pins and needles waiting for him to get to that part! I AM SO EXCITED!!
When he climbed up the piano!!
I'm telling you this video was sooooo deep... Notice how when it's a happy time (the wedding) the church is packed, but when he's going through heartbreak (the funeral) there's very few there comparatively... Man is that a comment on how life is!!
So sad how kids my age don’t know great songs like this :/
Yeah. Soon to be 16 here and I actually can't believe he doesn't know who Slash is lol
Rock will never die - MSG

Even though he is already like 20 or something, I am happy he is discovering the old legendary music and actually enjoys it
@@assicreeper3370 YES SAME it’s so sad
He feeling that solo! 😂😂It’s sad that people now days don’t often listen to rock, blues or anything like that
"Why the song get lit when she dies?" 😂 Greatest reaction to this song ever. Glad you liked this masterpiece.
that slash solo will alwasys be one of the best scenes in a music vid
Its a 3 part song. November Rain is part 2. Part 1 is Dont Cry and Part 3 is Estranged. These songs are based on a short story called "Without You". November Rain was one of the most expensive music video.
4 part now This I love being part 4
“Who is this guy” LMAOOOO almost died
The guitarist is Slash. I don't have a clue as to what his real name.
Saul Hudson is his real name.
Me too. I just simply excepted it, like all one-name celebrities.
His mom was a costume designer for a bunch of huge groups back in the day and even dated David Bowie in the 70’s who got him into guitars

All 3 songs are tied together as part of Del James short story "Don't Cry" which this is based off of.

"Who is this guy he sounds cool" oh really? He is a legend
“Who is this guy?”

You are reviewing one of the most iconic rock band of the 80's of course you will love them 😂 fun fact : rock music is the most emotional and deep kind of vibration you will ever hear, it runs in the vein and makes your heart beat, that's why rock will never die. No it is Rose
Bailey and Rose are both technically correct. He went by his stepfathers name as a youngun.

‘Heartbreak inspires the best songs’ nothing but facts 💯💙
"November Rain" is a beautiful masterpiece and has a deep meaning the music video and the song itself..
That would be Slash, one of the greatest rock guitarists ever.
Let me know what you think:)
not really true.and november rain took axl 10 years to complete.he started working on it back in 83 before gnr was even a thing
Bro it’s Slash, he’s one of the gods of guitar, even I know that 😂
How old is he?
God has his hands on you son. Keep up the good work. You're on such a higher level than your peers surrender your ego guys and you can be as clean as this young man. He's a beautiful soul. Absolutely raised right.
It's based on a short story and there are three songs that are part of the story. "Don't Cry", "November Rain", and "Estranged".
